Woah made this in like 20 minutes!! 😆 I literally just learned how to crochet like a month ago and this is THE EASIEST project I have come across. The instructions are super clear and they’re so much fun to make. Thank you Kelsie!! 🫶🏽😊
Love how thorough this tutorial is! You teach the stitches in case anyone watching doesn't know them. You're very descriptive. Thanks for making such a great tutorial! Cant wait to try my first scrunchy
hi Kelsie, I started crocheting in February this year. This was the second tutorial I tried to follow. My mom got me some pretty velvet yarn. I failed, I was a newbie. I tried some of your other tutorials, including learning how to knit. I love all of them and the items I’ve made. After a few months I tried again and still couldn’t do it. Today, I finally conquered the scrunchie 🥳 Thank you for making videos, I enjoy crocheting with you (through a screen)
❤ I just found your channel yesterday and I am so excited! I am 80 and I have a huge family, so I will be making a lot of scrunchies! I really enjoy your videos❤
I would recommend for people who are beginners, or if you (like myself) are visually impaired, to use a stitch marker on the 1st single crochet and treble crochet so its a bit easier to see where everything starts
This was a very easy video to follow💜. Thank you for making it. I'm new to crocheting. I started with 2 singles in a single stitch for my first scrunchies. Baby steps for me so I don't get frustrated and throw it out the window😂.
@janaegraber3907 no everything is basically the same. You just switch up the stitch. So, tc x3 in each stitch or dc x3 in each stitch, that's pretty much it. I like the treble crochet for solid scrunchies, but if I'm gonna be lining the scrunchie with a 4 weight yarn, I'll use double crochet and then a round of single crochet. They always come out so Fluffy and wavy 😍 if you do em right
Hey, Ms Kelsie! I have to tell you that I recently found your channel, and I can't stop watching your vlogs. I love how laid back you are, and watching you pack your orders, and talk about how to get your business started. I really love how no nonsense you are. Thanks for working so hard and doing what you do. I am about to start my own crochet business, and so I've been taking notes from your vids. :) Stay sweet, and thanks again.
I just recently started crocheting and was looking for something cute, quick, and functional for a last minute gift. Your instructions were so clear and easy! Even though I made a few mistakes, it came out looking so good! Thank you, this was a huge help!
I caught your edits for the scrunchies in your Vlog-mas videos and have been using them since. I love how they turn out! Everyone got one for Christmas this year, in their stocking lol and all the girls on my daughter's cheer team got one. 😂😊 Thanks for sharing an updated tutorial. ❤
i think it's so funny that you decided to remake this tutorial because i just went looking for the video from a couple of years ago!! can't wait to try it out
I've been making scrunchies since I watched vlogmas, based on the instructions then loool. It's good to know I'm actually doing it the same way, thanks gf ❤❤❤
YAY omg thank you so much for making this updated scrunchie tutorial! I was the one that asked on instagram the other day 😅 I’ve used your old tutorial for years so I’ll be using this one now! Love everything you make 😊❤
Just made 1 with crushed velvet - Ginger Plum and she's a beauty! I don't know how you do it so fast those stitches are hard to see and even tough to feel with so many scrunched together. Worth every penny of $10! I have very thick hair and doubted I'd get a double twist of the Goody elastic but Wow I sure did and it stays put. Thanks for the tutorial.
Right? It took me 3 hours too,but my rubber band was way bigger. I also had three yarns only so I had fewer options, I made my scrunchie with two colors (blue+pink) looked kind of tedious haha, can u sugggest me some combos that work better and what color of yarn to buy first? Kind of tight on budget
Ok. Wow girl, I have just come to a whole new level of respect for you. My great grandbaby finally has enough hair that I decided Great Gma needed to make her some of these. I love, love, love the way the Juicy Couture feels but jmfgd!!! That stuff is HORRIBLE trying to use. 😱🤬😵💫 My skein was literally knotted up completely. It took 35 minutes to even find an end to start. Then it was knotted up so badly inside onto itself that i could only do 3-5 stitches before I had to spend 5-10 minutes untangling enough so I could do a few more stitches. Then rinse and repeat. And repeat. And repeat... I've finally got about half of what's left untangled and reballed but the other half is still a complete mess of knots. It took me 2 fricking hours to crochet one damn scrunchie!!! And woo boy! Do NOT use your fongers to try to unpick a knot cause you'll end up with a bald spot on the yarn where all the fluff has abandoned ship. You MUST use a small crochet hook to tease apart each knot. You must have the patience of Job girl, considering how many skeins of this stuff you go through in a year. Whew. Damn. I totally bow down to your persistent and skill. Sigh...and now I'm off to untangle the rest and just hope this was an aberration, that the other 3 skeins aren't like this.
I'm ngl, but, I was quite intimidated by looking at the scrunchie in the beginning. 1) You crochet really fast in other videos. 2) I don't have a great experience with velvet yarn. It ended up turning out sooo well. I was not expecting it to be only 2 stitches!🤣 Thank you for this tutorial. ❤❤❤
I just made one of these today, it was a practice one with soft acrylic yarn. Now I feel confident enough to move on and try with velvet yarn! thank you so much for this tutorial, it was extremely helpful!
Hi! I’m trying to make lil scrunchies for kids! I bought little hair bands and tried making them but can’t get stitch ratios right-it isn’t ruffling up. I used single crochet around hair band and then treble crochet but it was huge so I pulled out and tried double crochet for outside band. Ugggh.
Hola Kelsey! It’s your 25th birthday and today I’m helping my fellow volunteers at PIH Hospital learn to make scrunchies and I chose this vid bc my teammates are high school and college students and I want them to stay inspired and we chose you as a fellow young person ❤️ Felicidades Happy Birthday
Those pony tails bands dont last in tropical heat. So im going to try normal elastic. I used to make these for my own daughter 20 yrs ago for her dance buns. . The chenille yarn i can get in Australia might look cute.
❤❤❤ thanks for such an easy to follow tutorial 😊 I just made my 1st one and it's so cute I love it. I used a pink chenille yarn from the dollar tree it's ok but it sheds from the end that's cut when I went to sew in my tails which sucks but it still turned out great 😂 ❤
Me wanting to make a scrunchie but not wanting to sacrifice a hair tie for it 💀 edit: does anyone realize that once I buy another one I won’t want to give that one up either and even if I make the Scrunchie I will STILL MISS MY OTHER HAIR TIE
Me seeing this comment as I am learning....😂😂😂😂 I'm already thinking I just need to buy some new ones for this project. All of mine are my favorites!😂😂😂
Awesome! Going to make some gifts for friends and family😊 Would you consider making a tutorial for your bandanas? I found one on your channel but dont know if its updated 😊
This was my second project as a true beginner. Mine turned out beautifully, but I used a bigger and thicker rubber band, which made it massive! Haha, anyway, it was a good experience.
I love this I’m going to make some for my granddaughter to wear to school Can you use medium 4 yarn ? would that work Thank you for any help you can give me
I made one and it’s so cute! But my a run goes after adding even just 20 sc stop shrinking fully back to size, they wind up not quite as stretchy as a result. Are my sc stitches too tight perhaps?
Sorry if this has been asked in the comments already, but has anyone used the mini scrunci elastics for kids? These are the ones I use as I have very fine hair. If so, does it work and how many SC do you generally use as your foundation?

Is there a difference in the two? Other than DC vs tc

Omg! Best scrunchie tutorial evah!
Cant wait to do these! You made it so simple, and I love the heavy ruffle look. I was doing only DC stitches.
Awesome tutorial Kelsie and I love all your videos, you are hilarious 😂 I just made a bunch of these for my Etsy shop ❤
Thanks, Kelsie! Finally the lightbulb comes on! Now I think I finally get it! My problem was the triple crochet!! Got it now!

Thanks for the tutorial! I used a 5 weight chenille yarn, 6mm hook with double crochet and 25 sc around. It turned out really cute !

I know this is an old comment but you should try hosiery elastics! They’re softer, very stretchy, and don’t have a weak point that can snap.

Hi Kelsie, I love your videos! I was wondering how you do them with the outline of a different colour?
By the looks of most of them from her blogs she does the first sc in one colour and the trebbles in the other colour

Oh this is a good use for the velvet yarn I have! Won't the end come loose once the scrunchie is stretched?
Thank you for sharing your talent =)
Love this tutorial. Thank you. What rubber hair ties are the best that you’ve come across?
Would this work with hair ties for thin hair? Or does it have to be the thicker bands?
I made one and it’s so cute! But my a run goes after adding even just 20 sc stop shrinking fully back to size, they wind up not quite as stretchy as a result. Are my sc stitches too tight perhaps?

Question!! Have you ever used the Bernat pipsqueak yarn for scrunchies? I'm curious how it would work out.

Do you prefer the treble crochets for your scrunchies over double?
Yes I do, makes them a bit bigger and fluffier

Will this work with yarn that's not velvet?
Yes of course it will work!
Wow I made 3 and they are so addicting.
How many can you get from one juicy couture yarn?
I can usually get 4 scrunchies from a skein of juicy yarn!
could i use a different type of weight/yarn type??
Hell yeah trebles! 😎
