The story of Karna observing the sun rising in north and south of the true east, is intersting. But, such observstion is not possible from Hastinapura (Meerut) or from his country (Anga) which is east of Patna. For an observer in Ujjaini (23.5 deg N), sun will rise always south of the local true east. The sun can be seen rising from north of the local true east, only for the observers in penisular India and also in Lanka.
