How wonderful!?! This has always been one of my favourite tracks, but to hear it picked up and carried by a very talented orchestra was just amazing. Hat's off to the choir... that last note is awe inspiring.
Increible! Los sigo desde que descubrí el Agaetis Byrjun en el 2000. No he encontrado otro grupo que me haya impactado tanto. Su discografia deberia ser objeto de estudio! :D Salud para todos!
@ezzylock It's actually the last track on the Screaming Masterpiece soundtrack. I purchased it as soon as I found it, myself. It's available on amazon.
THIS IS AN AWESOME SONG, I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH IT FOR YEARS, IT WAS A MIRACLE PERFORMANCE, I WISH I'D BEEN THERE AND THAT I HAD HIGH QUALITY MP3 OF THIS. IT MOVES ME SO DEEEEEP.
its so good i could quite easily collapse in a heap of tears by the end of it.....makes me feel emotionally drained, but in the best possible sense of course.....well its hard to explain the feeling isnt it ? ? ........ There are no words as beautiful as perfect music like this.
The instrument in question appears to be some form of lithophone. If anyone's interested, keyword search "soniccouture", which is the name of a company that sells soft synth sound libraries, go to their products page, and check out "The Skiddaw Stones", which has a lot of useful information and sound demos about this kind of instrument.
@istra2009 It's absolutely amazing, and the fact that the "ðing pong" Instrument is made out of woodboards and blocks of cliffrocks.. I'm Icelandic myself and a big fan og Sigurrós, this instrumental masterpiece is probably one of the few things that I'm proudest of that has made it to "nation wide" community :)
the sigur ros site said it. it is no surprise that it has been delayed, most likely due to sr recording a new ablum. it will be released at some point.
brings back childhood memories. i loved to read all of the nordic mythology books in primary school. and other than that, the song is absolutely stunning to begin with. especially the instrument made out of rocks i think it was? it was feautured on the Heima film as well :)
@ben1782 Point was that they both can't see out of their right eye. I used blind as in 'can't see' so I think it still holds - if he ripped his eye out it stands to reason that he can't see with his right eye. The parallel was interesting to me, but I never held it to be historically accurate.
This is probably my fav tune from this but its hard to say for sure. But if you listen to the commentary of Heima, the manager says that they really want to release it. They just have a little bit more editing on it.
This was shown in Heima movie - it is a xylophone made of different stones found in nature - it was made by some artist whose name I forgot. But as I said, it's all in the movie... Excellent though.
You can find a remastered version of the original concert recordings either as mp3 320 kbit/s or FLAC (lossless CD quality) here: victoryrosemusic.blogspot.de/2011/03/sigur-ros-odins-raven-magic-barbican.html
@11willf if you watch the Heima documentary, they made this stone marimba from pieces of sheet rock, accompanied by some dude who lives in the mountains and makes instruments out of natural materials.
@ezzylock It actually was released right after it first came out for free on sigur ros's website. But it was just a recording of this one time performance. You can DL a remastered version of it just google "victoryrosemusic odin" and it should be ur first result
It used to be a video on the Sigur Ros fan site 18 Seconds before sunrise about 15 years ago. they had a few videos I believe recorded at The Barbican. I have most of the movements on MP3 that I downloaded from the site years ago. But audio quality isn't that great. Thankfully the whole thing is to be released in December. If you want physical media id hurry as the limited vinyl sold out in about a day. Amazing music.
@@jurassicmarc77 That's great to hear, I might have to do that. The reason I asked is because I filmed that concert. Always wondered what happened to the footage after we handed it over to the band. Shame it was standard definition, but it should be 16:9, just not been stretched :) Amazing music!
nice musicians, but maybe they are that kind of artists who hates common people..people who does't think like them. i guess... simply beautfiul... great song and sounds!!
@Steb54 this hasn't been released on cd and they have no intention of doing so, however, there is a bootleg of it. Search around you might find it, if not PM me
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard!
I dedicated this song to my Father when he passed.
Thanks Sigur Ros!
I heard this, when I arrived Iceland first time with the plane. Before Landing. I cried... You can't imagine. And now, I remember.
I hadn't heard this in about 6 years and have been looking for the title every since. I finally found it, I'm bout ready to cry tears of baby joy
NinjaTurtleDrummer that's what I just did! It's such a relief when you find it
I was in the choir for in this concert which was one of my best musical experiences to date! It's as awesome piece!!
I used to tell people: "Sigur Ros could play on rocks, and it would sound good."... HA!!
Beautiful as always. Sigur Ros music=what heaven sounds like.
Bumping this because it must never be forgotten. Outstanding.
odin's raven magic is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard, not just from sigur ros, but from every musician.
How wonderful!?! This has always been one of my favourite tracks, but to hear it picked up and carried by a very talented orchestra was just amazing.
Hat's off to the choir... that last note is awe inspiring.
No hyperbole, this is probably my favorite live performance of all-time. "Wonderful" just doesn't do it justice.
Increible! Los sigo desde que descubrí el Agaetis Byrjun en el 2000. No he encontrado otro grupo que me haya impactado tanto. Su discografia deberia ser objeto de estudio! :D
Salud para todos!
odin's raven magic has always known exactly the path to my heart. Dear Odin, please please please give it a proper release some day.
It’s out now. Hope you get a chance to hear it.
I listened this for almost one hour, without a break. Now I can die.
@ezzylock It's actually the last track on the Screaming Masterpiece soundtrack. I purchased it as soon as I found it, myself. It's available on amazon.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! To think such majestic music could be inspired by Odin still. Did the All Father proud! Well done to all invovled!
One of the most beautiful songs in existence....
THIS IS AN AWESOME SONG, I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH IT FOR YEARS, IT WAS A MIRACLE PERFORMANCE, I WISH I'D BEEN THERE AND THAT I HAD HIGH QUALITY MP3 OF THIS. IT MOVES ME SO DEEEEEP.
@Darksoulsmx Es de Sigur Ros?
Sigur Ros, always amazing!!
First time listening to this, ahead of the public release in a few days... SO GOOD
I' can't just believe!!!!!! This and other sigur ros song's speaking with my soul directly
I found this video whilst looking for a piece called Odin's Song. It's funny, you uploaded this on my birthday.....thanks.
Wooow, this is,.... MAGIC!!!

A recording of this piece is available for free download on the Sigur Ros website, on the "media" page.

I just uploaded Odin Raven Magic Ch. 5 to youtube. It's the best chapter in my opinion, although I love ch. 3 as well!
chapter 3 is my favorite!
Does anybody know the name of the strange but exceptional instrument they have played in this video?
Excellent definetively
It's available as a free download on their website
los amo!
i'm waiting for the DVD. I believe it should be release this year.
Ten years later and we're still waiting :(
@@realroadrunnr not a DVD but the albums out on Cd/Vinyl and download in December......finally!

best chapter of them all! Chapter 3! Apparently Jonsi (sigur ros singer) is blind in his right eye, just like Odin.
I know what you mean. I'm hoping the decide to release it someday!
Rapturously joyful
You can buy the Screaming Masterpiece cd..All Icelandic music and this is on there.
that was pretty cool
@11willf if you watch the Heima documentary, they made this stone marimba from pieces of sheet rock, accompanied by some dude who lives in the mountains and makes instruments out of natural materials.
@ezzylock, i have this show in mp3 format. Try to find on torrents.
The have gathered some rocks and put it togheter to a marimba. It's really cool!

@ezzylock Hilmar örn Hilmarsson is the main guy on this I assume it would be in his stuff.
Hrafnagaldur (Odin's Raven Magic) pretty great cd
-fuckig awesome-
thanks for posting this
@ezzylock isn´t it "odin´s raven magic"? maybe you can find it as part of Sigur Rós´s music... at least i found it that way...
@Steb54 Would it still be classified as a marimba though, despite having stone keys? (I'm an actual marimba player and find this extremely intriguing.
anyone who enjoyed this ought to listen to Chapter 5 of Raven Magic, you can find it on grooveshark.
So I guess, that track experience an second youth right now.
demonoid or isohunt, both sites have the full cd
@Steb54 I have it record, but in mp3.
Damn
nice crescendo
@ezzylock Óðin's Raven Magic

@WelfareChrist
...Odin wasn't blind in his right eye; he ripped it out himself. Bit of a difference there...
Oh it was totally a privilege to be there! Were you there at the concert?
is the music a tiny bit out of syn with the video? Love it.
Odin Vather Alles!
