This was originally supposed to be a video of Zach Condon walking down some stairs, but whenever he sings, people with instruments appear and start playing.
It always makes me cry towards the end. The way it all builds up and crescendos at the end is so powerful. I’ll always come back to this video as long as I continue to live. First saw it when I was a kid. 30 now. He really made something special.
This song gives me hope while I'm lining up at this stupid supermarket in this very lonely Covid days.... nostalgia about who I was and people and animals I loved, the harshness of the present and the future being so uncertain...find solace in nature, art and music...when everything ends we'll have to find a meaning to this... Stay strong ...
I just love how the drums sound raises above the stairs and gets closer while the singer steps down, it feels as if a big celebration comes from the ground floor

My dad has a gambling problem and when I listen to this song it breaks my heart that he doesn't want help and it gets worst every year that I see him slowly fade away into the dark cloud of his addiction and it's been years now watching him move to lower income areas and just going with him to the casinos trying to just make him leave when he wins a little but there's always a accuse why we can't leave I'm hoping I don't have to watch him fall into this deeper then it already is
