Just found your channel Tim, been watching through all your videos whenever I get the chance. Keep it up mate, you’ve become a good inspiration for me; you’re doing the exact type of 4wd and camping that I like
Gday mate No worries. It sure does make it easier getting the tyre off the ground a bit to get the chains right under the tyre. Thanks mate. Cheers Tim
Another great vid Batsey showing a few tricks on how to make an awkward job a lot easier. I particularly liked the idea of using the blocks of wood. And of course good advice at the end, always look after your kit when finished.
G'day Steve, Thanks a lot mate. Those blocks of wood are very handy when it's time to get the tyres off the ground. Thanks heaps for your feedback. Cheers Tim.
I was on the way back from a trip just yesterday and while I was sitting around the fire watching my bush TV I was thinking of getting a set of chains and Hmmm how do I fit them? Then BINGO! You drop a video on exactly That. Mate you're a legend Cheers for the video Huge Thumbs Up! DJ.
Great content you put out mate I just subbed to your channel I've been binge watching your videos for about 2 weeks now, I've been interested in the Victorian high country for a while now so I'm glad I've bumped into this channel, I will be asking a few questions later as I follow your page, questions on where is a good camp site for snow coverage and stuff like like that and when is a good time to head down, I seen on google there is a resort and stuff there for winter activities for kids(and also if any the areas are close to the ned kelly museum in glenrowan. Any info would be great, keep up the content mate cheers. P.S I'm from Cape York so I have no idea about the beautiful Victorian high country haha 👍
G'day Dennis, Thanks heaps mate for your feedback and subbing to my channel. I hope you enjoy some of my other videos across my channel. Look forward to chatting down the track. Cheers Tim
I recognised that red tub, and it inspired me to price check my 30year old 8mm mud chains on their website .... wow, I nearly blew a valve $$$, ha. Piranha recently sold out to McNaughtans transport hardware. Bit of a plug, under McNaughtans I found the Pirahna brand to be in pretty good hands. Service was flawless
I've never put chains on my tyres ever so thanks for the tutorial. My next question is a red herring so here goes, do the chains only go on the front two tyres or on all four?
G'day mate, Snow chains make a massive difference to how your 4WD handles in snow. I only put them on the front two tyres. All four tyres is over kill and not needed. Thanks for your reply mate. Cheers Tim.

Great video! One question for you Tim - assuming you have a single pair of chains, do you favor putting them on the front or the back? I see you demonstrated putting them on the front, but it seems most people put them on the back axle to ensure they have plenty of clearance inside the wheel well, less resistance when steering, and if they happen to be in 2WD, the chains would be on the axle with power. What are your thoughts?
Gday mate, Yes, I only fit one set of chains, fitting up all 4 tyres isn’t needed unless you might be doing some seriously deep snow driving. I have fitted my chains to both ends. Most people will fit them to the front tyres, to add traction with steering. Which is what I do pretty every time I fit them. Hope that answers your questions. Thanks mate for your feedback.
