I've been playing guitar for thirty years but watching this guy sing and play, Im just a child.
Such an underrated guitarist. Pops was an awesome rhythm player who always let the daughters take the spot light. Wish there was more video of him solo. Love ya Pops!
My number #1 guitar player of all time!
I love him also.
Want him in the group that
welcomes me into Paradise. CB
This song is straight from the heart, this is a man of God, it's in his music, heart and soul, truly gifted, he is truly missed, in Heaven now, rest in peace.
This is the pure essence of American music. A treasure.
Pop Staples will move your soul. Some people aren't comfortable with that.
Flip that flag back over Andrew!
Come and make me Mac Daddy. If that IS your real name.
@@andrewwilliams9599 My mom really liked Taco Bell.... It's sad I know.
Wow. I love The Staple Singers and Pop Staples is a fantastic guitarist!
Pops was a musical genius. His soulful style is beautiful to here.
hear
How have I not heard Pop Staples before?!? This is absolutely incredible! There's some serious technique in that playing.
The solo cd's from him are god praise music with soul voice
Pop was one of Steve Croppers favourite guitarists - I can see why
Gospel/Blues
Testifying with Blind Willie's classic‼️
Man, thanks for posting this treasure ✅️
☆ I used to watch this great program every week, when it first aired.
🇨🇦
His voice was soooo smooth and his guitar playing!! So great!
greatest show i ever saw was Pops' solo set at the Chicago Blues Festival 1992 in front of about thirty (30) people - nuff said
That's amazing! Nothing like those intimate settings.
That sounds great indeed
I’ve been to Pop Staples Park in Drew, Mississippi. My friend, Duff Dorrough, used to play with him and family when they came back for their annual event.
That was a very fine album Pops put out. He was a great talent in his own right. Excellent guitarist too.
Clark’s rosewood Tele Tuesday shoutout on Norm’s Rare Guitars brought me here! Thanks for the introduction to an amazing musician. 👍🏽
the absolutely best rendition of this song
Fender should make a pops staples signature tele like the one he’s playing!
It would pretty much be like the George Harrison rosewood tele but with a wide range humbucker in neck…same batch I believe! He also played jaguars and jazzmasters often!
The Staples family were such a great gift to humanity. American civil rights icons. That is pure Fender tone right there. A tele and a twin with a little "Shake " as pops called it from the vibrato channel.
Go Daddy! What a great find! Staples singers were great but pops is up there w Robert Johnson in expressive blue guitar. Love it!
Night music was always the best
An excellent combination of Blues and Gospel - This the real deal
just love it,pop,blind willie,excellent
I love Pop Staples
so incredible
This is genius.
Love this song, Glory Hallelujah
Goosebumps Baby!!!,This is heavy stuff….intense, like an anthem of the movement….
Earth Soul Gospel Blues RocknRoll...
Apart from the genius music..
The straight forward line of conversation in the beginning really caught my ear. Everyone has to make so much small talk and bullshit conversation nowadays, nice seeing some straight up conversation.
Great man! Understated.
Pops really knew all the cool low down blues riffs, and could make a song from just one chord.
LOVERLY Vincent Edwards x
Fire. Wow. 🙌👌
♥️♥️♥️
killer guitar player
There are only two types of music, good and bad….this is best of good…..in every way…..
Fuck yeah
I'm here since new music blows
Keep lookin
Is that a rosewood tele or just walnut brown color?
American Mozart
Thank you ain't that the truth
What year did this air?
I found this online episode guide. It gives no air-dates but it's like, the third episode of the '89-90 season (there were only two seasons), so I'd say 1989
@@ChrisJones-ij3xp do happen to know what show this was? I've never seen this before and I have watched a lot of television back then. I sure did miss out on this! 😊

Telly thru a twin?
Is this an Early Dave Letterman???
No more of this era of musicians. too bad because late night shows are all political now.
Is Led Zeppelin the greatest cover band of al time?
Biggest plagiarists of all time!
@@wowrude wrong
They say the biggest form of flattery is imitation. Also with them doing their renditions of these classics, they probably opened people's ears to some great original blues. Even as an adolescent to the young lad I became I've always heard the blues when these guys played as a matter of fact Led Zeppelin was the first Rock n Roll band I heard play a lot of blues and even Rock Samba. It's absolutely genius! And there's nothing like it to date and probably never will be.
I wouldn't be watching this without LZ
