    -The firepit is a good choice early, as it costs the same number of points (one point, since you already have campfire) as a small wooded crate, and it has the ability to hold more and withstand storms better outside of a shelter.
    -Shovels are useful for gathering unlimited ice from the same ice node. Rather than running around in the snow looking for Ice nodes, one can make a shovel and gather a 100 ice from a single node before it breaks and needs repair. Nice since an ice box can only hold 100 at a time.

    I find the Firepit to be an excellent item early game, personally. It holds way more than the camp fire or fireplace, and you're less likely to step in it and set yourself on fire than with the campfire. It's not as nicely portable as the campfire, however.

    • @seliasthemage
      @seliasthemage 2 роки тому +1

      Also you can store items in it and it doesn't get damaged in weather. Especially nice with the amount of storage.

  • @cyrusol

    The fire pit with more inventory slots is essentially a chest that doesn't break during a storm and thus very useful.
    Regarding armor: some people on Reddit were making the argument that not taking the workshop armor into a mission frees up many slots to take other good workshop items with you. I don't really have a hard opinion on this though.

    Skinning Bench is dope for fur and meat, but you actually get more bones from skinning without the bench, since you can smash the skeletons with your axe when you do not use the bench.

    platinum pick and axe are baller if you don't have access to the titanium versions yet; huge step up from iron/steel ... also, maybe bugged, the stamina usage on the platinum pickaxe is very small; you can non-stop mine for a very long time using it.

    I am lvl 88 where you can almost have every blueprint in the game. So it basically doesn't matter as long as you get the basics and necessary things first. Even if you get something that people say is unessary there is basically infinite blueprint points so go for it.

    I completely skip thatch, if I need shelter before lvl 5 I just mine into a big rock or if I am lucky 2 so I can hide inside one and put the campfire in the other. And I am enjoying the new throwing spears, but bow is better for a first weapon as it does have the greater range.

      If you build overhangs the walls attatched to it remain sheltered and don't take damage (the overhangs degrade to 20 health points, but they remain there indefenitely). So if you build a thatch 2x2 with thatch overhangs, you only need to worry about the roof. So a thatch 2x2 with just the 4 roof pieces out of stone handles the same as a full stone house in storms (except snow for obvious reasons). That being said you probably want to replace the overhangs at some point since they always play the getting damaged sound in storms. Annoying but functoinal if you don't want to babysit the building. It's insanely cheap and lightweight (at least with a sicle and wood to sticks).
      I just recently tried javelins and they are insanely awesome. You need to go up to and skin the animal anyway so distance doesn't really matter. More importantly it BODY one-shots basically any normal animal below bears. With stone arrows you have to be really carefull to actually crit-hit the head or it runs away/towards you and you have to hunt it down/defend yourself against the wolf and its buddy's. With a wood javelin you either miss or you kill. No drama. Cave worms get annoying though. Without the workshop my progression is now basically wood javelin -> flint longbow.

    i wish they would fix hitboxes. The number of times I have had arrows travel through an enemies head and still miss is more than i can count.

      @@GameAdvisors I havent had that happen yet, they do slowly burn but never go all the way down. Also i don't put them directly on the house a few meters apart. I always two wooden towers, one on each opposite corner. In the last comment and i said they laster longer, but what i actually meant is that they last long enough and are cheap to repair.

    3-4 times faster ... well fuck , this "not that much faster" is what actually decide will you get despawned by a Polar Bro in Arctic or you will survive.
