    It's really nice of you to bring attention to the proper way of feeding. I would say people skip the most important part, reading the entire food schedule instead of just the when and how much. I've walked into grows expecting life and seen nothing but death. Leaves every color but green and what they call frost is nothing but light burn & deficiencies, medium looking like cement but when you give them good information they already know their stuffs fire.👍🏻

    In the past i tried to follow the guidelines, but as you say, there are so many factors to consider, so what i'm doing with my hydroponics system in regards to feeding is simply measure the EC in the reservoir.
    If i see the EC goes down in the reservoir, then the plants used up more nutrients than water, and for the next feeding schedule i raise the nutrient solution by a small factor (maybe 0.2).
    If i see the EC goes up, then there was more water used than nutrients, and i lower the nutrient solution by a small factor (i know could also be due to water vaporization).
    If i see the EC value stayed the same, then i keep that level of EC..
    That's to me the only real way to figure out what suits your specific setup, as long as you measure daily and still drain the reservoir every week to 10 days or so.
    When it comes to mixing solution, i usually just start with a liter or two, mix all the nutrients in the right combination, and then add RO water until the required EC level is reached. Then i check how much this is in total, so i know for future reference how much I approximately need (note, i have a small setup, so i don't mix it in the reservoir directly, but move it over, when it's completely done).

    I'm in the middle of my first hydro grow, a 3-plant trickle system from a 6-gallon res, under a Mars TS-1000. I'm using Jack's 3-2-1 nutes at about 50% "book" strength (800 ppm over "pure" well water, which is 200 ppm out of the tap). The 50% seems to be just what my plants want, but I'll raise it to 75% 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after the flip.

    Look yall, feeding your plant cannot be guided by an internet article like he says. Smaller plants require lower ppm. Larger plants require higher ppm. Watch the growth of your plant. Look at the leaves, stalk and roots. The goal is to keep your plant just below nutrient burn. Maximize your ratios.

    LOVE this clarification.... something i am still unclear about even though it's often talked about is like when you say, say the professionals may be growing under 1000 watt light and this person saying cut feed in half is growing under 100 watt light... i have a cheapo light that got lots of good reviews that uses 65 watts of light but says it effectively creates 600 watts of light (LED of course) ... so when you and others are saying 100 watts or 1000 watts is that the electrical usage or is that the "effective" light produced? Thank you!

    You need to balance Nutrient Element Ratio (NER) and Electrical Conductivity (EC)
    Mix nutrients at full strength to get the correct NER and then add RO water to get the right EC/PPM’s for the stage the plant is in..
    Example
    You mix nutes at full strength and it comes out at 1000ppm’s but you only need 700 then water it down to 700 ppm’s.. you’ll have the correct NER and EC and this is how it’s done ✅

      Some lines of nutrients that won't work. Try it with Nectar for the gods, you can't mix the different nutrients i.e., Athenas Animus, or Herculean Harvest. It will coagulate! I mix separate every gallon of nutrient enriched soil for separate plants. I do not mix a larger quantity, for beginner or intermediate growers it is best to keep it simple. A lot has changed, I started growing in 1971. Back then where I lived the Marijuana was sold as lids, in Detroit they used actually lids, but I don't remember exactly which one. They also would do a 1,2, or 3 finger bag because that is how much it would be in the bag. It was all leaf back then seriously unless you came across some Columbian red, or Acapulco gold. It was nothing man back then, looking back I don't I got really stoned until 69' off of some sensi a bandmate grew that was it! The weird thing was when I started growing sensi at first you couldn't sell it people weren't hip enough when I started, and the seeds I was giving to start growing was Afghani Kush, the real kush from the Kushstan part of Afganistan. Well I got to go and to you beginners you don't know how easy you have it now days, try hauling water and fertilizer through the woods and hopping fences getting thorns poked in you, and you didn't dare go to your plants anytime you wanted, now we can just look through our windows!

    • @PAHydroponics
      @PAHydroponics  6 років тому +16

      Hello, flushing DWC ( deep water culture ) is pretty simple, dump out all the nutes and fill up with plain water about 5 to 7 days before harvest, the plant will realize there is no more food at root zone and will start using up the stored food in its leaves and branches. You also can use a flushing solution in the water to help break down salts that are stuck to the roots, flushing solutions instructions vary per brand. hope this helps! Flushing hydro is much easier than soils.Gary

    I use 60/40 perlite and coco, and use a 1000w hps, I've heard that as long as I water until I get runoff every time I water, I don't have to worry about salts building up, I'm fairly new, I use the full general hydroponics line, drain to waste, full strength, I water 3 time a day and it has worked great, I mean, like 3 times, I'm just checking to make sure I'm not getting lucky by not doing a thorough flush every couple weeks instead of just at the end,

I love HLG 550 ( horticultural lighting group ) This light will do a 4x4 with no problem and will blow away a 600 watt HPS with only 490 watt's. If your in the US look them up. • @PAHydroponics
      @PAHydroponics  4 роки тому +2

      Hey there, good question! Every brand is different with the feeding and you should find the companies feeding schedule for whatever you are using and start off with a light feeding to ease them in, As for how much water you should water till it comes out the bottom so that you know the food is all the way thru the soil, with 7 gallon you probably wont need to water them much depending on your humidity and light, you want them to have a dry out period so that the roots will grow faster, so many factors play into how often you need to water/feed them like how fast your brand of soil dries out and plastic pot verses cloth pots. It is pretty much an impossible question to answer with so many different variables but I hope this gives you something to think about. Also if your soil already has nutrients in it then you may not need to feed them anything for a few weeks. Hope this somehow helps:) Peace. Gary

    I'm new to growing cannabis and I'm in the process of educating myself.
    On the subject of flushing it seems that the prevailing wisdom is to flush your plants. While the reasoning behind this process makes sense, I'm wondering if anyone has done any kind of "blind testing" to see if it is worth the effort?
    I mean, something simple, like growing two identical plants in the same conditions while flushing one and not the other then comparing the results between the two. Maybe giving friends a sample of each and let them try them out without knowing which buds were flushed and which were not.
    I'll probably try this out myself for my up-coming first grow but it would be nice to know if anyone else has tried it.
    Thanks for posting.

    Would an hlg 600 watt light be strong enough to run my plants at full nutrient strength? I have learned more from your video than anywhere else makes hydroponics less scary thanks also how many dwc 5 gallon buckets can fit in a 4x4 with scrog? Hello, your light is awesome, in our test it was about the yield of 850 watts against a hortilux 1000 watt so you should be able to go full speed! As for DWC in a 4x4 with scrog just make sure you have a way to change out the water because with scrog is gonna be hard to change reservoirs if they are not hooked together, you could cram up to 9 probably but 4 with a good grooming to fill scrog would be just fine in my opinion as for the cloth pots you could get 9 no problem and could cram up to 16 5 gallons if you wanted but really wouldn't want that it would be a jungle. Have fun with that.Gary

      Hey, yeah I would go with 2 as the winner on that, you will get cross penetration and maybe get your lights a little closer, it's simpler with less wires for the big one tho, also having 2 lights if 1 goes out then you still have a light to get you by, just my thoughts. Have a good day! Gary

I have a four bucket system with a reservoir in a 3 ft by 5 ft by 8 ft grow room. My light is a 315 W CMH CDM grow light with 3100K bulb. Im going to use the General Hydroponics nutrient system. Any tips on whether I should adjust their recommendations? Thanks so much!

      Hello, I would cut it down 25% on the 315, I LOVE 315's ! So do the plants! After you get used to growing you will be able to look and see if the plants are hungry for more so stick with it! GH is pretty solid and you may be able to bump it up during flowering and be fine. Hope this helps! Gary

      i just posted my method in the regular comments, before reading your question.. maybe this helps figuring out what suits your setup as well (copy/paste, so the "you" was to Gary):
Then i check how much this is in total, so i know for future reference how much I approximately need (note, i have a small setup, so i don't mix it in the reservoir directly, but move it over, when it's completely done).
      having said that, after the initial mix in a separate reservoir you should know the approximate amount of nutrients already anyway, so you can just multiply that for the amount of your reservoir to mix it in there directly.. i would just err on the low side when mixing directly in the reservoir, than noticing you added too many nutrients and have no more space to add water to dilute it down anymore, and maybe have to drain some..
