The kids have gotten to that age that they think "Dad is weird" and don't want to participate.. We all as fathers go through the same thing. A few more years and they will be begging to be in your videos again.. Merry Christmas Frank and family!
Love the fact that you included the large bandsaw segment where you didn't feel like it was safe. Trust your instincts and there's almost always another way to do it. Merry Christmas Frank!
when cutting multiple "dowel" type things I tend to tape them together with blue tape (sort of making a bigger log) and use my table saw sled. With 8 or 10 taped together they don't fly off after the cut. Then I just untape them.
BOWLING BALL. Regulation size complete with finger holes. Segmented, solid or what ever you could dream up. Keep up the the great work we enjoy your videos.
I'm sure people have said this before, but seeing that big dodecahedron made me think it would be neat to see you make a large set of D&D many sided dice!
You can project the v-carve on to a spherical surface so it is deeper towards the sides of the pentagon, so when you turn everything down, they are about the same depth everywhere.
That is an absolutely beautiful ornament for around the base of the tree. We usually put a wood house our daughter made, a light up ornament our son made and other cute things.
Happy Christmas to you, your family and your workshop. Thanks Frank for the hours of entertainment. I've gotten into woodturning and now I do my own Frank's Christmas ornaments as gifts. Hope you have a great time and look forward to your videos in 2023, slàinte from Ireland
Looks great as always Frank. I feel like these videos have now become part of the holiday tradition and I look forward to them coming out around Christmas.
As the sphere is hollow you should put a message inside on a metal plaque that’s glued in that could be X-rayed by future archeology buffs for their enjoyment and bafflement 😁 merry Christmas
I've been binge watching ALL of your videos the last few weeks. I LOVE when you toss something at the table or against a fence and it's perfect. It cracks me up every time. Thank you for over a decade of amazing content. Would you ever consider another shop tour?
Love these videos. Might be fun to intentionally make the corners too thin and cur through them leaving a lacy pattern ... would mean also finishing the inside and the interrupted cut may be sketchy ... but would look really cool.
Frank Someone is using your @frankhowarth messaging to try an online scam saying you are giving away gifts to winners after leaving a comment. I can send you the info if interested. They just tried to get me to pay for shipping for a Mack Book and a Sony Camera a Hoodie and stickers. Didn't seem like it was you. If it was you it seemed fishy. I wish I did win these items. Didn't feel right though so I opted out.
Wonderful video as usual Frank. Thank you! An idea for next year, maybe you'd be willing to make a tree for the "ornaments" to sit /hang on. Thinking like one of those flat pack wooden puzzles that you can slot together to make a bike or a T-Rex. Something like that seems like it would be perfect for you to make with your CNC.
Merry Christmas! I hace watched these videos for 7years now, and it brings me a lot of joy to discover what new ornament you’ve designed for this year. Thank you and many blessings
It's getting to the point that if you ever wanted to hang all of these, you'll have to make a tree out of fairly stout boards first. Another great one for the collection. This is one holiday tradition I always enjoy. Happy Holidays to you and your family and thanks for sharing!
Merry Christmas Frank and family! I have teenagers at home and your video support that this is their passage of time, and I loved how you commented on this. Your woodwork is as always such a thoughtful process.
There are woodturners, then there's Frank Howarth!! That's an awesome bauble. Merry Christmas, Frank, to you and your family. Hope you have a good one.
I'm sure you've thought about this, but what about making the dodecahedron with blank sides, using the 4th axis to make it into a sphere, then V carving the designs into the sides. Then the images could wrap around the sphere and wouldn't have to be as deep to keep the details when finishing the shape on the lathe.
That's what I was thinking! Frank needs a giant "city square" sort of tree to put his ornament on. Or he could just put it on his, I think it'll work if he secures it to the trunk, lol.
Merry Christmas Frank and to all your family, and all your extended family here, a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for your wonderful videos, they mean a lot to me and I am sure to all who view them.
Só light hearted and joyful, Frank. And seeing that the kids have their own voices makes me happy as the great dad that you are and also how old I'm getting... Well, merry Christmas!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO FRANK! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your time and shills with us here on UA-cam. Happy new year. One Love!!!
Absolutely stunning work of art, Frank. The attention to details and creativity is truly an enjoyment to watch. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year... oh and as for the orb being a bit too big, this is easily solved by a much larger larger Christmas tree. LOL, or it could be a table display, use that wooden cup thing as a base. As a different approach, let's say you made it differently, and used colored plastic rods, wouldn't it be neat if it could be lit internally and the light shows through the color circles? Anyway, what you've made is far beyond my skill level and I appreciate watching a master make a masterpiece. Thanks so much. Cheers!
A very merry xmas to you Frank, mrs (she who must be obeyed) Frank, and the Kids, thank you for a very entertaining year, all the very best from New Zealand.
Two birds one orb. I'm glad your reoccurring Christmas orb and World Cup ball has an overlapping segment. Even if you were not referencing it intentionally, I'm going along with it. I'm thankful that the World Cup happened in December this time so we can have this lovely crossover. The color pencils make it so festive. Merry Christmas, Frank!
The kids have gotten to that age that they think "Dad is weird" and don't want to participate.. We all as fathers go through the same thing. A few more years and they will be begging to be in your videos again.. Merry Christmas Frank and family!
Very true. And we were kids once as well!
What's really funny, is that those same kids start doing it again about 10-15 years later or so, haha
you are absolutely right!!! They will do it!!!
So, anyway merry Christmas!
Love the fact that you included the large bandsaw segment where you didn't feel like it was safe. Trust your instincts and there's almost always another way to do it. Merry Christmas Frank!
I was thinking that Frank could put the ball in the lathe cup and slide that across the bandsaw table as a safe way to hold it.
I am looking forward to the year when you carve a tree on the lathe to become the home for all these ornaments you have made in years past
when cutting multiple "dowel" type things I tend to tape them together with blue tape (sort of making a bigger log) and use my table saw sled. With 8 or 10 taped together they don't fly off after the cut. Then I just untape them.
I love that you show your mistakes and your thought process. Life’s like that sometimes
Back at cha Frank and thanks for all the time and expense you invest in your videos. They are certainly the top 2 or 3 on the Tube! !! !!!
BOWLING BALL. Regulation size complete with finger holes. Segmented, solid or what ever you could dream up. Keep up the the great work we enjoy your videos.
Lovely! Tips: Place all the pencils next to each other and use tape to hold them together
adding a splash of colour with pencil crayons is such a good idea!
Nice project
One day the kids will look back with regret for not continuing the tradition. Merry Christmas
The way you used colored pencils here really was inspired
A beautiful piece!
And I spotted the TARDIS on that tree! 😍
I'm sure people have said this before, but seeing that big dodecahedron made me think it would be neat to see you make a large set of D&D many sided dice!

Thanks Frank, can’t wait for the Christmas video where the kids get over themselves and rejoin you. Happy holidays!
Judging from the 'most replayed' graph on the video timeline, people *really* loved watching you pin clamp your hand!
Merry Christmas Frank. All the best you you and your family. Thank you so much for this years artistic entertainment!

I wishe you and all your relatives and family health, peace and prosperity !
Best wishes from France to you Franck !
Pac'e Salute.

A little plaque with "IF YOU CAN READ THIS YOU'RE WASTING AN X-RAY MACHINE" inlaid into it in lead.
🥱

Best wishes to you and all your family. How the time passes and things change. Best wishes for 2023. Derek
Thank you, Frank! Merry Christmas to you, your family and everyone here in the comment section!
Merry Xmas Frank and Family. All the best to all of you in 2023. Stay safe, keep well, and most of all stay warm and enjoy the festive season.
Love these videos. Might be fun to intentionally make the corners too thin and cur through them leaving a lacy pattern ... would mean also finishing the inside and the interrupted cut may be sketchy ... but would look really cool.
Thank you for providing more inspiration for us mere mortals. I love you.
Just like you making a Christmas ornament has become a tradition, watching you make it has become a tradition for us as well.
Beautiful Video Frank! I love your work and showing the mistakes ! You are an artist on many levels.
@frankhowarth. thanks Frank just sent you a message

Frank are you doing a giveaway for viewers that comment? Seemed like a scam.
Thank you Frank and the same to you and your loved one's
Wow, great work! Regarding to 19:25 - cutting off the supports of the ball -- just use a hand saw! 😃Happy Holidays!
Frank, Hope you had a great Christmas with family and loved ones. All my best to you all for 2023!
Wonderful video as usual Frank. Thank you!

And a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to you, your dear wife, and those precious kids that have suddenly became camera shy. 🙂
Great project! You need to make a wooden Christmas tree big and stable enough for that ornament, and the next one, and the next one...
*grin*
watching the Christmas Ornament video has became a "tradition" of me, enjoyable as always! Merry Christmas!
Ah we finally get to see what that was all about. Wonderful Orb!
Dust collection suggestion: make some small mobile fences, like 20” long and 8” tall. You can move them around quickly to contain the chips
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, from Switzerland
Happy New year and good health to you all
Merry Christmas! I hace watched these videos for 7years now, and it brings me a lot of joy to discover what new ornament you’ve designed for this year. Thank you and many blessings
The level of detail and attention 💪 beauitful

To you and your family. It's been such a privilege to be able to watch you put your creations together.
I'm sure all of us were looking forward to your next holiday video and see your kids grow up. Thanks for the great work you do.
Merry Christmas Frank and Family, another beautiful ornament, you must have enough to now make a box for them.
Watching your programmed router cut down the excess inlays flush. Fancy tech & Im here in my shop and my only tool option is JP hand razor saw 😅
There are woodturners, then there's Frank Howarth!!
That's an awesome bauble. Merry Christmas, Frank, to you and your family. Hope you have a good one.
what a great way to add color using the pencils. Great video.Merry Christmas Frank and all.
Thanks for all the nice videos this year. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 🎉

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family. Be well.
I think they've got a big tree in NYC that would fit nicely on, maybe you could start taking your ornaments across the country every year haha
That's what I was thinking! Frank needs a giant "city square" sort of tree to put his ornament on. Or he could just put it on his, I think it'll work if he secures it to the trunk, lol.
Thank you Frank. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you and your family from Western Australia
And a very merry Christmas to you and your family as well Frank.
Merry Christmas Frank and to all your family, and all your extended family here, a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for your wonderful videos, they mean a lot to me and I am sure to all who view them.
Something to ponder over the holiday season

Merry Christmas Frank - to you AND your family. Another beautiful piece, made with patience and love...
Só light hearted and joyful, Frank. And seeing that the kids have their own voices makes me happy as the great dad that you are and also how old I'm getting... Well, merry Christmas!
Could you make a spherical 12 sided dice. Put some fishing weights on the inside and have the inside sides be straight, so it works as a dice.
Thank you for sharing. Have a great Holiday and stay safe.🙂🙂
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO FRANK! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your time and shills with us here on UA-cam. Happy new year. One Love!!!
I did just now. Thank you Frank!

Yet another fantastic Christmas ornament Frank! I wish you & your family a very Happy Holiday Season & the best New Year ever! 👍👍🌲🌲🌲🌲👍👍
Could you make a set of cup/bowl mounts for the 4th axis? Letting the cnc finish the sphere seems safer and more accurate
