1:45 Those up on Najdorf theory in the 90's knew that 10. Bg5! is stronger here, as 10...Qxd4 is answered well by 11.e5 - white either get a great attack on the e file with black's king being delayed in the centre, or at least win an exchange by trapping the a8 rook. The queen's rook will instead defend the knight from d1 when required. Very, very complicated though, so you wouldn't try it in classical game unless thoroughly prepared - although maybe worth a try in the rapidplay games. I wonder if Kasparov had studied the lines and what his reply would have been? We'll never know :-(
even so i dont like daniel king, its the first time i understand the logic behind pawn to b4, who would have believed.... ofc pawn pushes.. and yes obviously knight always has to moves... man my medication sucks those evil corrupt psychiatrists.....
and the game goes like this
Short...(thinking 3 or 4min)..then makes a move
Kasparov...(mate in 34 moves) makes a move
great to have found this! thanks
thanks for the upload
Love these commentators. Nowadays it seems all too cluttered with people showing all engine lines and variations. The originality of chess is dipping
Yeah, I like how they comment the actual game and not mess it up with neverending alternative lines.
Who are the commentators, these guys are brilliant.
Alberturkey54 GM's Raymond Keane and Daniel King.
And Jon Speelman with Oxbridge educated Mathematician Carol Vorderman.
I like how Gaza calls a stupid move a "rare continuation" lol !!
Nice calm explannations back in those days. Nowadays in UA-cam it's all too fast and messed up.
do you have game 3?...thanks

Was the e pawn not hanging for the first few moves?
At 8.02 short should of played h7 pinning the pawn and you can't stop check mate
on 17:05 why dont black take the pawn with pawn g7 to f6????
Nh5 and White would eventually lose the bishop, for example after Qg4 and Ndf6 and Black is winning
Why not play bishop h6 at 8:02?
+Nick P If Bh6, then I suppose Kasparov would have played Ne8, defending the weak g7 square. Hope this helped!
true but im comparing to others Gm's lol
Short had gary by the curlies but life's a bitch
8:00
Why doesnt white play bh6. Threatening mate, winning rock when protecting with g7?
Think it's Ne8 black plays
Nigel Short is so sweet!
