I regret not even CHECKING. I was so convinced at 24-26 that i "couldnt possibly" afford it that i never bothered to get pre-approved. Then then rent hiked to almost 2600/mo almost overnight .... then i started looking and got a newer build for 1900 a month. All that extra cash goes into a "fix it fund" . in the last 2 years we've paid... maybe 500 on repairmen and 1200 on improvements (sealing out bugs). That's 70/month :)
