    I've always wanted to go to Cuba. I went to Havana & Trinidad. I used Rena's company. I even had the same Spanish Teacher as you did in Trinidad, she was great. I really enjoyed myself. I was throughly pleased with the sense of community. I'd love to go back. Your tips were quite helpful. Thanks for sharing.

    I just returned from Trinidad.. only three days for me , but you really captured my experience and feeling about the Cuban people, sights and sense of safety that I had only a few weeks ago. I stood in the same place in Plaza Mayor and ate at the restaurant at the base of the grand staircase... I need to go back, humanitarian trip!

    Awesome footage! What an experience you had. I was just there a month ago in Habana and everything you said is so true. The people are warm, helpful, amazing. The architecture is as beautiful as the people. I can’t wait to visit again. I really hope it doesn’t change negatively with tourism as more visitors travel there. What we also enjoyed was that we were able the walk and admire without being looked at as money bags. Keep up the good work. I’m subscribing to you.

    11 days, I need to spend that much, but I think this year If I go I will only spend less than 5 days. The place looks nice outside (where you staying) but the room, I'm really not too keen to stay 11 days there! Cuba is so beautiful with its old cars and colourful walls. This is getting me stoked to go!

    This was great, Jon. Traveling is always full of surprises, so I appreciate your common sense tips and emphasis on the positives. You sold me on Trinidad, Cuba. How strong and stable was the hotspot in Plaza Mayor?

    • @HereBeBarr
      @HereBeBarr  7 років тому

      I appreciate the comment. The connection was SO SO, at times I couldn't connect. My best advice is to go to that hotel I mentioned next to Parque Cespedes the Iberostar. Go to the bar there, order a drink and a wifi card. Sit in the air conditioning and get any important work done. The park was slightly slower and less likely to connect. Plaza Mayor actually gave me the worst signal and had the most people trying to connect there.

    • @DesigningLife

      Juan J. Maldonado very cool. I didnt know it was papaya.
      In Merida they say bomba but its just a saying. Like saying "hell yeah" or something like that. They dont use it for papaya.
      I like that tho. I think its very cool. I love learning new things. Thanks :)

    Hi John, first of, thank you so much...your videos about Cuba have been the most helpful and informative I've found. I'm traveling soon with my husband soon and was wondering if you would recommend the place you stayed at in
    Trinidad? Also what would you recommend for traveling from La Havana to Trinidad? Did you stop in Cienfuegos?

    • @HereBeBarr
      @HereBeBarr  7 років тому

      My place was decent, however their were some other ones I liked more. If you want, contact Rena from the link i left and tell her you found my video. Ask if Juani or Misleydis have vacancy :)
      For travel between the two cities, I booked a collective taxi, it's 4 people in 1 car, so a tight squeeze but by far the fastest option. I never did stop in Cienfuegos, i wanted to but the buses were sold out. Coudl be sometihng to do on the way to trinidad!

  • @TheLostLemurian

    That's such a beautiful place to study! And Juani seems so beautiful and sweet. I wanna go hang out with her. :D
    What a shame that there is such a long wait to get internet! But I guess it's part of the charm of the place - as you said, a real Cuban experience. So lovely to hear that street crime is so low too.

    • @HereBeBarr

    • @HereBeBarr
      @HereBeBarr  7 років тому

      I think you'll be fine if you use normal common sense techniques. Street crime isn't a major issue in Cuba, but I do think the local men may be quite friendly, especially at the salsa clubs.

    Hi. Great informative video. I was hoping you can give info on how to get to Trinidad from Havana? I know there's a bus option but we're thinking about taking a taxi to save some time. Do you have to reserve a taxi early or can I just wave one down the morning of? Any tips will help. Thanks

    • @HereBeBarr
      @HereBeBarr  7 років тому +1

      I'd arrange a "colectivo" taxi with your hotel OR casa particuluar. A word of caution, they normally seat 5 so be prepared to possibly be squished in the back seat, lol. But it's the most direct method, about 5 hours.

      Here Be Barr can you tell me how much roughly it cost to get a taxi to Trinidad ? There's 4 of us and the casa we are staying at is able to arrange it for us for $170. Is that about how much it cost? Thanks again for help.
