I've been to Cuba and you are lying if you are talking about these days, the only period it was almost like that was during the "special period" when Americans tried to strangle the economy and Russians stopped helping. I've been all over Cuba, been several times, and studied Spanish in Santiago de Cuba nearly 20 years ago. Yes, Cuba is not a western-style democracy that part is true. However people are not afraid to speak out, and unlike in many other Latin countries labor union leaders, journalists don't get killed. Cuba has one of the highest human development index in Latin America according to the UN, which makes sense if you compare to DR, Haiti, Central American, etc. Their salaries are peanuts, ridiculous, I agree, but they get "raciones", every basic cost is free or nearly free. Medicines are available and very cheap, even for foreigners. I went to buy several times during my times in Cuba. With prescription, they are free, as in some European countries.

So informative and much more interesting than just giving tips for places to go and see (although that's always appreciated too!), however this video really showed the value of travel where you get a glimpse of another culture and country and start to understand the meaning behind certain things that an outsider would never know or think about! YAY! My boyfriend and I just finished watching all of your videos from the beginning! Your first video I saw popped up on my suggestion list when you were riding the Tran-Siberian Railway and I fell in love. Showed my boyfriend your videos the next day and we then set out on a journey to watch all of your videos. WOW what a journey you have taken us on. THANK YOU SO MUCH for allowing us to come along on your adventures and see new places. You have helped us plan things to do in places that are already on our bucket list; as well as add new places to our list. We love you and will be waiting not so patiently for a new video now. Much love from Arizona. P.S. we follow you on Instagram and Facebook. :)
I have been to Cuba six times. We have never been threatened. Everyone we met have been hospitable and helpful. All the people I've spoken with say they don't have a problem with Americans. If Americans have a problem with the Cuban people that too bad. That's an American problem.

Great series... I absolutely loved Cuba... been there 3x to 3 totally different areas all with totally different vibes... Havana, Holguin, and Cayo Coco... All 3 are amazing... the people are the best thing about Cuba and the Food a close second! 2/3 times we rented vehicles, a car one trip and scooters another, and just went... never felt unsafe, always able to find great eats, and always were able to navigate as the locals were always willing to help you find your way. While on one trip we even ended up as guests at a wedding reception... it was fun... Amazing country, amazing people! I’d love to have he budget to go again... some day :)

Thank you for the wonderful video of Cuba 🇨🇺!!! FYI- it’s very safe for tourist in Cuba. The consequences of messing with a tourist are severe. Unfortunately, it’s not the same for the Cuban people living there, as crime among each other is pretty bad. This is what my relatives tell me all the time.

As I explained this 80 $ is just for clothes, electronics, and amusement. Everything else is free or ridiculously cheap. (even entertainment, an ice cream in "la copelia" costs less then 2 dollarcent, taking the bus costs 2 dollarcent, a cocktail in a peso bar costs 5 dollarcent, etc.) etc.)
What is the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE?? And percentage of children attending school in Uniforms?? How can the population be "starving" when International UN Bodies praise Cuba for its health and food security?? Incomes are low because the basic costs of living are very low e.g accomodation. If the country is so bad then why does the US need to install ILLEGAL and gutless extraterrtorial sanctions which almost every country opposes?

Hi Nate and Kara I just finished watching your 2019 trip to Cuba and you were explaining the Cuban sandwich, that it’s a Cuban American invention. I’m a Cuban American that left the island in 1961 and the Cuban sandwich was a traditional sandwich before the revolution so they gave you the wrong information. It probably went out of the national gastronomic lexicon because they didn’t have the products to make the sandwich and it went out of fashion. But yes it is a very popular Cuban sandwich. I loved the videos, I left as a small child and have never returned.

I then question myself where I know that information from and it’s from your videos! So THANK YOU! As always, keep up the amazing work!

As a person who is half Taiwanese half cuban with a mom who was born and raised in Cuba and then fled to Florida as a refugee, I have never and would never go to Cuba as a tourist or "fun" vacation. This is because I know that the tourist are seeing, experiencing, eating , buying things that the ppl who live and work in that country never will. It's not like any tourist goes to disneyworld , or Orlando and is experiencing stuff that isn't available to any U.S citizen. Its sad because these ppl have know idea about this.

Now let's go get some street food!!!" Just in case you don't get it, the Venezuelans ate the zoo animals - because they were starving - because food is a luxury - because of socialism.

My wife and I are going to Cuba for the first time next week. Thank You for this awesome video!!
Kara and Nate you guys are really fun to watch all the time
😁👏
Kara and Nate for the next Travel Channel power couple
I think this was my favorite video from you two I've ever seen! So informative and much more interesting than just giving tips for places to go and see (although that's always appreciated too!), however this video really showed the value of travel where you get a glimpse of another culture and country and start to understand the meaning behind certain things that an outsider would never know or think about! Great video!

I love how you two make it look so nice safe and happy but meanwhile the locals are struggling

Times are tough, especially rn, I feel so bad for my grandparents
Yeah because safe streets and street food everywhere screams struggling. Oh the poor Cubans, being refused treatment at hospitals cause they can't pay. That's what's happening right?
I'm freaking *in love with our vlogs.*
Finding where the locals eat is always the best strategy!
Except the locals can't really afford good food
Now in Cuba we have mobile data on the cell phone, it is a step forward in these years of delay
This format was great, would be fun to see more videos like this.
Great to know! Thanks for the feedback! ❤
Thanks so much! This makes us very happy 😁❤️
I really enjoyed your video I wish you success my friend God bless you.

I have been to Cuba six times. We have never been threatened. Everyone we met have been hospitable and helpful. All the people I've spoken with say they don't have a problem with Americans. If Americans have a problem with the Cuban people that too bad. That's an American problem.
its my reflex to quickly click the video as soon as I got the notification

Same can't wait for the next one. I love your vlogs
Cuba is a country like no other! I’m glad you guys captured the reality of it like the busy bustling streets!
I enjoyed life without phone for two days in Havana.
Both my mom and dad are Cuban born and raised and I’m so happy that people enjoy our culture!
The Cuba series is very good but I especially love the style of this video.
Thank you!!
Not sure if I commented but that’s me at the 2:27 mark! Was visiting dad after 49 years of leaving Cuba and good thing I went in 2019 cause then Covid hit he’s still there never came to the US he’s doing well and is now 86! I yearn to return
Kara and Nate thx for this memory ❤ captured!
I’d love to have he budget to go again... some day :)
Marie Lawson we are planning on possible visiting Cuba. Did you book with a tour company or how did you plan your visit in terms of the travel restrictions?
Wow nice comment. I can't wait to go there myself.

I’m surprised you didn’t go and see some of the beaches in cuba. Some of the most beautiful ones in the world.
Love you for your positive honesty!
Nice vlog. I've learned alot. I'll try to copy a bit of your style. Fun and cheerful.
I love this style of what you expected and the reality. It really helps manage expectations!
Happy you feel that way! We had a hard time getting a feel for what is was like before arriving, so that inspired us to make this video!
Obviously, im cuban: respect!!!! you don't preconceive anything you just go with the flow (what about that person portion sized cuban pizzas ahhhh) love your stuff.

Love love love!!! I just found you guys and I watched all your videos from Cuba!!! I really want to go there, I’m from PR but all my friends in HS were from Cuba, I live in FL so is really easy for me to go have a Cuban coffee, a plate of ropa vieja or a convo with a Cuban grandma but there’s nothing like experiencing the country! I cannot wait Thank you!!! You got a new sub here!
adore you videos! Especially this one!! Love ya
Probably one of the best sunsets. Beautifully filmed.
Love this style of videos... Really fun to watch
Great to hear :)
Thank you for the wonderful video of Cuba 🇨🇺!!! FYI- it’s very safe for tourist in Cuba. The consequences of messing with a tourist are severe. Unfortunately, it’s not the same for the Cuban people living there, as crime among each other is pretty bad. This is what my relatives tell me all the time.
true,it is safe for tourists due to the commie rule, just like eastern europe was under USSR soldier's rule. There is no Miranda's rights or arguing with the police.
Cuba has been one of my top 3 favorite vlog series you've done. Bravo!
thank you so much for being truthful about your cuba trip. as a cuban american i hate all the miss conceptions. great job
These Cuba videos have been so interesting! I have long had a fascination with Cuba, and I would love to travel there someday. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures there 😊👍
Hey im from cuba and i think u guys did a great job describing it, hope u guys enjoyed the streets of Old Havana, i was raised running and playing there and this video brought me back to my childhood, thanks for the great job!
"Neurosurgeon makes $80 a month! But hey, they are such nice people, as they starve and have no gas to get to the hospital." 👍
@@gregjay1537 how about talking to real cuban americans they'll tell you horror stories of what really goes on in Cuba, my Cuban coworkers would rather be here in the US than back in Cuba

Cuba is such an enigma. They've done a great job giving everybody a good education, yet most people are grossly underemployed. The people, though, absolutely make the country. Great videos.
Yeah they tried to make everyone turn into doctors and engineers and forgot that there are other jobs that need to be done. And that lead to food and resource shortage
You really think so Dan??

I love Cuba because I’m Cuban
Hi Nate and Kara I just finished watching your 2019 trip to Cuba and you were explaining the Cuban sandwich, that it’s a Cuban American invention. I’m a Cuban American that left the island in 1961 and the Cuban sandwich was a traditional sandwich before the revolution so they gave you the wrong information. It probably went out of the national gastronomic lexicon because they didn’t have the products to make the sandwich and it went out of fashion. But yes it is a very popular Cuban sandwich. I loved the videos, I left as a small child and have never returned.
LOVE this vlog! So informative! I know this sounds odd but I am a travel agent and have been so for almost 6 years now...I work for a tour company that sells some really unique destinations. I find myself answering my customer’s questions without having to look up answers, even when I haven’t been to that particular destination. I then question myself where I know that information from and it’s from your videos! So THANK YOU! As always, keep up the amazing work!
This is how many people are Cuban like me 👇

Another great, informative video! Thanks guys!
I would have loved for them to leave Havana before praising a collapsed nation by only visiting a tiny tourist city.
Sure, wanna say that about all the aid Cuba has given in the coronavirus pandemic?
Lmfao, a collapsed nation? The only reason the country suffered exonomically is because of all the embragos that America placed on Cuba following Castro getting into power.
@@CulturalMarx What products are being embargoed as their exports? Also , what imports would benefit them ?

these people are only showing the touristy areas where they cater to the tourists they should actually actually show them the socialistic paradise that ocasio-cortez loves where you have to wait and massive lines for the supermarket and there's no food or fresh anything to eat and also gasoline shortages to get gasoline to your car you have to wait 4 hours in a massive traffic line waiting to go to the same gas station.

All this happen because of the American embargo
@@giasifman9050 ate you of cuban descent? Do you have family members that were born in Cuba and lived or still live their to tell you exactly what and why things are happening? I just came here from the Turning Point Video on Cuba and Socialism. It's so weird how these people talk about several of the same things but with smiles and excited voices like it's just a different kind of fun. I can just imagine Kara and Nate narrating their way through a zoo in Venezuela - "The Venezuelans have a different attitude about animals in captivity, they recently freed them all, so this zoo is empty! Now let's go get some street food!!!"
Just in case you don't get it, the Venezuelans ate the zoo animals - because they were starving - because food is a luxury - because of socialism.
