So many beautiful birds.🙂Some years ago, I had 2 cockatiels that shared lifes for twenty years. After one of them died at the age of 23 1/2 years, I decided to get a budgie to accompany the old one left behind. Yes, they fitted well together for 2 weeks. The budgie was very vibrant and started to tease the cockatiel. It thought this was real fun but the old cockatiel got more and more nervoes and anxious, so I had to separate them. I got a second budgie and the cockatiel lived nearby in a separate cage till he passed at the age of 25 1/2.
Budgies and cockatiels are really like older brother/sister and younger brother/sister. They love each other, but they do get on each other’s nerves. However, when you do need them they’ll be there by your side.
We have separate cages for our budgies and cockatiels, but they share one of their cages on occasion to go outside on the patio, or certain situations at night. All my birds eat the same pellets. My grey gets larger ones obviously, and the little guys all get the budgie sized Higgins Intune pellets (no seed included in any of them)
Thank you for this...I have a budgie I rescued from the wilds of NJ in August and I have been working with him a lot to build trust and provide a healthy environment. Someone just offered me a cockatiel and I wasn't sure if this combination would work. I still have a lot to learn, but your videos are so helpful. Thanks again❤🐤❤
Alen, I couldn't know that you could read my mind!! I WAS JUST THINKING AND FACING THIS PROBLEM, AND I HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THEM SEPERATE. I WILL BUY A VERU BIG CAGE TOMORROW.❤❤😊😂
@@makeyogurtafruit that's nothing, perhaps it is not the way to get nervous because of what people do, many things happen everywhere but we have to go on and do Good and nice things:)
My budgies are bully, cockatiels hate and scared of them, all have separate cages, but play in the same area so i always keep eye on them. Its best not keeping different species in the same cage.
An excellent video, Sir. Thank you! I am not a birb owner, for various reasons, but i do enjoy watching videos like this one. In Florida, where I live on the Space Coast, we have several species of birbs which live here most of the year; they generally fly south around November, then we see them again usually around mid- to late-March. Our regular residents include: boat-tailed grackle; northern mockingbird; raven; scrub jay; seagull (2 or 3 different species); brown pelican; white egret; snowy egret; ibis; cardinal; sandhill crane; great blue heron; osprey; bald eagle; several species of hawk; and various songbirds. We also see lots of migratory birbs here; some winter here, while others rest here then continue south or north. Sorry for being so long fingered! Just wanted to share the many different kinds of wild birbs we have here. 🙂
i’ve had 2 parakeets for about 4 years. one of the birds died suddenly today and i’m not sure what to do to help the other bird in this. i’m planning to buy a cockatiel bird and introduce it to the other budgie. to mention- my budgie is kind of skiddish. what should i do?
Have budgie and cockatiel that share a cage with no problems, when first brought home they had separate cages but when let out they would go and look for each other and if budgie went into the cockatiels cage and I took him out the cockatiel would sulk, they kiss each other and spend most of the day out of the cage playing and flying together if one or the other is away they call each other to return to their side also have a green check conure and she lets them play in her cage and often joins them on a cage, they have all the freedom I can give them and they only go in a cage at bedtime, the budgie and cockatiel are boys and the green check conure is a girl.
Hi, my budgie is slowly loosing all its feathers. It’s not a molt. It started when she was six months old. She is a year old now. She has lost tail and flight feathers and now starting to loose them on her body and head. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks
I just got a new cockatiel today as one of my budgies died a week ago. I have one remaining female budgie so I hope she gets along with the new cockatiel after quarantine is finished.
Those do Not speak the same Language, a budgie needs a budgie friend and a cockatiel also one of his own kind. Please do your Research on the Internet…
I have 4 male parakeets in an avairy and am considering adding a cockatiel. Does it matter the sex of the cockatiel ? Would the males and a female get along?
I have a cockatiel and a bunch of budgies in a room and they get long great, My tiel loves to look at the babies but gets run off lol He also breaks up fights when the parakeets gets mad at each other.
My budgies had a chick It has fallen to the bottom of the cage and when i wanna put it back to the nest it is scared and chirps loudly and bite me What should i do?
Would this logic also be applied to them being like half a year or a couple of months old? Was just wondering if age also plays into this. I heard that the younger they are, the easier. Was wondering what your thoughts (or everyone's thoughts) would be on that?
Hello,i wanted to ask you something. I have three australian parakeets, but my male is a bit fluffy and sad.I hope you can help me. Im from México. Thank you. I await your answer🙂
I keep my birds separate. They need their space. They may get along for a for a little while, but they need to be with their own species, especially at night.
Seed mixes marketed for cockatiels are not healthy for cockatiels because of the high amount of oat, sunflower and safflower in most. I feed pellets as the main diet to all my birds seed is only fed 2 days a week.

i just putted my lonely Cockatiel into my budgie's cage they were opening their mouth to each other like they were going to start fighting so i immediately took the Cockatiel out and putted him back to its old lonely cage he is very sad. im planning to get him a girlfriend.
Hello I've got a. Cockatiel and I would like to know please would is the best food to get them?? And please would you like me know what are the names of them please would you right then on my message or on here please so I can go and get them the things to day please.. help me please...
Hey!:) You should check for the seeds first at all, in the petstore they will give you advice which one you should have to choose, also Cockatiels should eat mostly vegetables, there is some info about that topic around the internet
"Vegetables are very good for Cockatiels. There are carrots, broccoli, beet greens, dried tomatoes, corn, endive, kale, spinach, sprouts, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, mustard greens, turnip greens and chards. While most vegetables are better if given raw, Cockatiels prefer pumpkin, sweet potatoes and yams cooked.Oct 25, 2019" this is what I have found
TOPS and Harrison's pellets are the best (pellets should be only 30% of their diet and veggies 50% and the other 20% should be eggs, pasta, cuttlebone and fruits unsalted) Here's why other pellets aren't the best quality- 1. They have fillers like soybean and wheat which, you can see that the are they most abundant by seeing which order they are in, the ingredient list, the list goes from most abundant to the least abundant so, if you see soybean or other fillers in the first five items, don't buy it! 2. They have sugars or salts, this is mostly found in coloured pellets but also sometimes in non-coloured ones, the salts and sugars are really bad for your bird happy birding!!!
Please LIKE this video, very much appreciated.
