I saw 5 really sick budgies in the pet store yesterday kept in inhuman conditions but I couldn't do anything about it as I live with my parents and still a student with a busy schedule.
.I hope someone takes them although it's very unlikely and the pet store owner doesn't give a fuck

Our budgie was attacked by a rat. He was inside his cage sleeping and the rat tried to get him. It was a good thing I heard him crying. his tail and right wings were badly injured. But thank God his doing better now. His able to fly again too. Not yet high but a big improvement. 🥰

A couple of months ago I bought a very young bird from the pet store. I figured out she was probably 3 months old when I got her. She's the shy personality and bringing her home, and her new cage, she was extremely traumatized and sat like a statue for 2 days. Not eating or drinking water, and could not entice her even by moving food and water near the corner where she was sitting. The 2nd night, I put a small pyramid under her cage, and the next morning she did start drinking and eating. Only small amounts at first, but she was moving around her cage. It took a couple of weeks before she stopped panicking when I reached into the cage to wipe off her perches or change her food. I love her and she's so cute. I've had her two months now, and am just in the last few days gotten her to eat from a spring of Millett held in my hand, and last night for the first time she jumped on my arm a few times. I have even gotten her to sit on my finger....but not for long. But I do attribute the vibrations from the small pyramid as being a big help in easing her trauma.

The transition between them eating from his hand and getting out of the cage happened so fast. I also have two budgies that I've been trying to tame for months now and they don't have a problem with eating from my hand or standing on my finger but that's all. They fly away when I try to get them out of the cage, they don't allow me to touch them and they only jump on finger when there is food involved...

I love that you gave them a chance to be loved just like anyone deserve❤️ But im a bit concerned about their droppings, since the urates look kinda greenish/yellow and. Bright green or yellow feces can signify that the bird is not eating (anorexia, or stress since they got to a new home), liver disease, or chlamydia (a kind of bacteria) infection. The urates are normally white, cream colored or slightly yellow. I would keep an eye on that since i lost 2 of my rescueds for the same reason..(they had problems with their liver) I also recommend giving them milk thistle and milk thistle seed since it can do miracles for your bird❤️

I would suggest taking away their seed dish so they are forced to try other foods. Just between say breakfast and dinner. By using that method, my bird became interested in nearly everything I would eat. It had to try some--even meat!

    • @notjbfold
      @notjbfold 2 роки тому

You could grab the food you want the bird to eat and stand next to the cage then take a bite of it and act like its really yummy. Do NOT give the bird the food you bit, instead a new one, human saliva is toxic for birds. Also when you give them fruit DONT give them any fruit with the seed still there as it contains cyanide which is safe for humans in a very small amount but for birds its not. To what i know the only safe fruit seed is strawberry.

Wow, so awesome! You’re so caring and patient. Very happy flock you have! I actually learned a lot from this video. I think I’m not being slow and patient enough with my bird.
We rescued a young-ish male cockatiel from a household that had dogs, kids and probably meth use. We’ve had him for over a year, and he’s come to love us (we think), but he absolutely hates our hands. He hardly ever comes out of his cage even though it’s always open (except for when we secure him at night). He just sits on a rope attached to the cage door all day. He hates when we leave and freaks out with excitement when we return, it just sucks he won’t really interact with us.

I tamed my two budgies in the same way you did in this video, They are comfortable sitting on my finger and eating millet/lettuce, but when I try to take them out they either jump off my finger when approaching the exit, or they just jump back on the cage and go back in. Clearly, they don't want to be out the cage. I have been doing this daily, so with time it may work, but could you make a video outlining tips and ways to make it easier? Thanks!

I think I was 11 when I got my budgie, and he was supposed to be an aviary bird, so he was completely wild and his wings were clipped but I didn't get a say in it otherwise they wouldn't have been. Either way I've had him for 3 years and he's still relatively skittish. Sure sometimes he wants nothing more than to be around me, other times he doesn't. Recently got a cockatiel too she is an aviary bird, completely wild.

Hey if you eat avocados it’s really easy to grow plants from the pits if you just throw them in some soil (literally just throw them in and wait and a good portion will grow! It really is easy and cheap and unless you want them to bear fruit maybe they’re quite easy to maintain... oh also they tend to like more shade so when we put them outside for the summer just be careful they don’t get too much sun and dry out... though they’re still quite hardy and can spring back after being damaged like that... you can also have a bunch of plants) and my budgies lovedddd the leaves!

I have a technical question , did you keep their seed plate in the cage while feeding them with your hand ?
I have a crazy lovebird she's scared of me , though she accepts the seeds in my hand , she doesn't want to leave the cage .

    Hi Alen,
So It's been 4 months since I got new budgies and they r just 5-6 months old. All 3 have grown their feathers and are able to fly except for 1 that can't grow it's feather. I thought that they r new born so it'll take but it seems only that particular bird can't grow.
    Please advise.🙏🏼

You should probably wait... also, take them to the vet for an exam, they may have a disease such as French molt.
      Wish you luck!

So I went to my mom's friends house once. She had a kid with two budgie's. Poor guys lived in a tiny cage in the most disgusting house I'd ever seen. The kid kept forgetting to feed them and when the mom gave em water the birds almost drowned themselves trying to drink it while it was being poured. Then about a week or so later I find out they died because they weren't bought more food. I feel so bad for those babies and I would have taken them if I didn't live in a car :(
