Thank god the 1970's were chock full of variety shows and they showcased and preserved these legends. Todays generation has nothing like this except music videos where they lipsync the original from their CD

I saw Pearl in Detroit in the 1970s in Detroit in a one woman show. Then in the mid 80s I saw “Hello Dolly”in Detroit with Carol . What a joy . I later saw Carol in Las Vegas in the early 90s at Cashman Field.

Blessed to have spent time with both of them as a kid. Miss Channing was a sweetheart and I have to admit I got in “trouble” with Miss Bailey

We will never ever have talent like this ever again. What a horrible shame that today,s young people aren,t interested nor do they care or give a damn !!!!!

Scott Miller That’s not even close to being true, cause I’m a black 17yr old girl and I’ve been listening and watching things from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and sometimes the 40s since the 6th grade. I’ve listened to all genres of music. And I love it, including these Broadway legends. Perrrriooood

@@sydneyhorne745 I am very happy for you but I've been working with the public and young people for over 45 years now and it is mostly true! Today's young people 35 and under do not like entertainment from that era, because they consider it boring dull and weird. Most kids today won't sit still for more than 5 minutes when hearing these performers. I've tried many times to convey this to them and they're simply not interested!

carol channing "came out" as "black" later in her career, admitting that her father was part black. her entire ethnic story is very interesting. anyway, these two together is pure gold. i grew up seeing these two on everything from sesame street to carson and arsenio.

Carol's black genes were recessive as hell

There's a photo of her by Carl Van Vechten taken when she was young. Search his name and hers under Google Images and you'll see those genes clear enough there!

You do know she denounced this later on the Wendy William's Show saying "Oh, I don't really know ... Mom said that when she was mad at Dad" ... I "Hope so" - She was so flippant it leads one to believe it was used "to sell books" ? Certainly doesn't matter for she was only ONE of a kind 😟

The young people today only know garbage of Music . Because that's all they hear today. That garbage hip hop garbage. Those people can't even sing. It's all phoney I was so happy to have been born in the 50s. All I know is know is great music. Pearl Bailey and Carol Channing were the Greatest Dolly ever
