CONVERTING A DIRT BIKE [Supermoto Build Part 1]

- Welcome to my Supermoto Build Series! In this series, I will be showing you the entire process of making a dirt bike street legal and converting it to a supermoto. This is being done on my 2015 Honda CRF450R. I'll cover parts needed, requirements, a little bit of installation how-to, but most of all, having fun showing you the choices I make to build a super cool custom supermoto!
In this video (Part 1), I introduce the build, some quick details on what's needed to make a dirt bike street legal, and begin disassembling the bike. While not necessary for legalization or a supermoto conversion, I'm doing this build from the ground up, including powdercoating of things like the frame and swingarm. Gotta access all the inner bits!

I think this could be my favorite thing you do. I see so many young guys asking what is a good first bike and I personally feel sumo is one of the best ways to get into riding. Converting a pure dirt over gives you choices as well, especially if after a few months you decide riding on the street isn't your thing. You can pick up some quality used dirt bikes for fairly cheap compared to the price of a factory sumo and insurance is nothing on them. Of course I am in Utah where you can license almost anything.

Best supermoto on the road? I thought you were going to say best super moto I can possibly build. That's a lot to live up to. You have the cr500af supermoto built over in the UK called the Black diamond. You have Motoboatr's "sunken treasure" colored frame crf450r. Then you have the custom built Husky 501 built by a pair of dudes named Zajcmaster and Chris that own a Husqvarana shop overseas in Salzburg. Im excited for the build buddy! Finally! :)

what do you think about bigger bikes such as ktm 500 or bikes over 600 for use as supermoto and switch back to dirt bike tires. when does bike get to heavy, whats the perfect balance is what i really want to know. 450's are great but if I could squeeze in some more power that would be even better

I have an 08 kx450 I’ve been wanting to put just the supermoto wheels n tires of course
But my question is do I have to change out the rear swing arm to install the rear Sm wheel ? My idea is to be able to swap back n forth from time to time
