- In this video series I am going to be installing and configuring the new Windows Server 2016. In the eighth video from the series I am going to implement Failover Clustering for Hyper-V Virtual Machines, a great feature that can make your environment highly available. It can significantly help reducing downtime for services running in Virtual Machines.
Thank you so much for this video! I've working on my Server 2016 MCSA and have been trying to wrap my head around all the failover clustering stuff. Your video was the easiest to follow even compared to a paid video series. :)
My 2 node cluster is still working without quorum inspite of failing the other. I mean cluster is working on single node as well without quorum.

slmgr -rearm this is for expired windows 180 days...
You probably know this by now mate but you can extend the life of evaluation copies of Windows Servers, just rearm them for another 180 days, it's a quick command run in elevated cmd mode 'slmgr -rearm' it will say the process has succeeded and reboot, one rebooted, it connects to Windows activation servers and activates itself for another 180dys, on Windows Servers, you can do this 5 times before you will have to re-install a fresh copy, for Windows 10, you can do this 3 times before you have to re-install.
Thanks ever so much for your Videos too, I've used your HyperV failover cluster series to learn a lot about this topic, I'm using HyperV core as my 2 nodes. I'm not sure if it's a bug, I could use cluster manager to create the cluster in my scenario, I had to use powershell.

hi, I only have 2 nodes but when installing I need to join the domain to resolve. So, where does AD install? Can I create AD as 1 VM on any one node?
To make Fail-over Clustering highly available, you need any local DNS Server (which is mostly a AD Controller) on a physical machine, to resolve the iSNS requests that support your disks on the iScsi Target Server(s). Otherwise, the Fail-Over Cluster can not start, because the Host Servers (Nodes) and Storage Servers, need to be validated and accounting for starting up in AD/DNS.
If there is no DNS, and AD is down, the cluster with only 2 nodes won't start correctly. It's a known feature (bug) in Fail-over clustering with only 2 Nodes..
