- The Messi-Ronaldo rivalry is a perceived association football rivalry between Argentine forward Lionel Messi and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, both of whom are widely regarded as being among the best of all time in the sport, having won a combined seven FIFA Ballon d'Or awards.
Sports journalists and pundits regularly argue the individual merits of both players in an attempt to argue who they believe is the best player in modern football.
It has been compared to legendary global sports rivalries such as the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier rivalry in boxing which culminated in the Thrilla in Manila, the Björn Borg-John McEnroe rivalry in tennis, and the Ayrton Senna-Alain Prost rivalry in Formula One.
A big credit to HBO Sports for making the Mayweather / Pacquiao documentary which inspired me to make this video.

I'm sory Maradona, pelé, cruyff, and any other legend but messi and Ronaldo don't deserve to be second to anyone, not even to each other. I'm truly glad I was able to witness their greatness. Perhaps one day I'll tell my grand kids story's of how two men took over the world of football for nearly a decade breaking any and all records that come there way, reaching 50 goals a season as if it was a given, mesmerizing defenders, emasculating goalies, and making grown men cry with a strike of their boots cause by then football will have been normal again.
They have to do the world justice and play in the same team before they retire.
And there is Griezmann saying: " I'm the same level as Messi and Ronaldo. " 😂😂😂
Sad people have to argue and fight. I honestly think these 2 are better than mardona and Pele, yeah they haven't won a World Cup but look what they have done at club level, breaking record after record, these 2 are unbelievable. In a time where football are so tactical and these 2 can produce magic that'll have you sat there and think "wow what have I just seen" I don't think I'll see 2 better in my whole entire life.

Almost feel sorry for the Ronaldo/Messi "fanboys" that are so obsessed with one, or so filled with hatred for the other that they can't just appreciate and enjoy the fact that we're watching arguably the two greatest players that have ever kicked a football, at the exact same time.

Forget Pele and Maradona, those two were from a different time. Appreciate these two giants that walk among us, because one day we will look back and wonder how fast time passed without us realising that Ronaldo and Messi had surpassed anything that we ever compared them to.

Messi just won the World Cup and with Ronaldo going to play retirement football after leaving Manchester Untied for the second time. It is the End of an Era and what a great ride it has been one I will never forget. Thank you to both of these two legends. Adiós por ahora.
