Maybe I had wrong expectations but I thought this was going to be a mini documentary. I didn't get any sense of narrative or how he actually turned from homeless to a photographer.
I was a photographer, aspiring actor and model all prior to being on the roof and while on the roof. I explain in the film that a trip to the south of France pursuing a photography dream ate up all my savings leading to not affording a home. There is much footage of me shooting while sleeping on the roof.cheers
Hola Folks , Mark Reay here subject of the film. I guess most of you have NOT seen the film and are drawing conclusions based on this clip and maybe some press. It is available in the US on Itunes now if you are interested. To address Melora's comment- well what can I say?- its a true story and my life hasnt followed a Hollywood script for a happy ending but the story is still worth telling/watching- and audiences around the world give it high marks and contact me often.. My predicament is neither black nor white in terms of how/why. Generally, I have jobs that are high profile/ low profit. Many people in NYC WiTH jobs are in shelters or crammed into very unpleasant apartments due to high rents or struggling mightly to pay rent.. I am not a victim nor do I hold any one or entity at fault, like many people some of my business investments didnt work out or are less profitable making housing a problem and at the same time I gained satisfaction from living off the grid and not making my problem some one elses problem. Small apartments in any borough of NYC (and they all are small in NYC) are around $1200-1800/month and renting a room from $600-1100 FYI and that's after tax so add 25% to those figures for the amount none needs to earn... THE GREAT MUSIC in the film is by acclaimed jazz musician Kyle Eastwood (yes he is the son of...) and Matt McGuire. Thanks all for taking the time to comment. Mark

This is a clip from a movie Homme Less which is a very interesting case study about maintaining dignity and separating your lifestyle from your financial situation. I really hope the future does not include people that work cant afford a roof over their head.. I wouldnt say being homeless is considered a modern way of living.
Shure we all hope that! In the end it depends on if all of us realize that we are a big family ,and not a mass of indiviadual gorilllas, where nobody cares. How is it possible that a gentle guy like Mark finds him in that situation? I giuess because first he thinks that he has to make it by himself ( as we all are trained likewise) and second because noone wants to leave his comfort zone, like beeing alone at home with only his computer. Maybe we forgot how nice it is to share. Same for me. I just wonder how it all happened?
NullusBrahms I get your point now, at first I thought you meant that being homeless is a modern way of living and that it is not a problem as long as you can adapt to it. I also find it wrong that a man has to resort to living in the streets just to be able to make it in a field he is passionate and talented in. I myself find it easy not to be alone, just keep an open mind and be the best version of yourself you can, be positive, open and smile. People will want to talk to you, dont be afraid to share or connect with other people!
