Been trying to learn about flying a drone. Haven't decided between the Mavic Air 2 or the Mini 2. Glad I have come across your videos as they are among the best tutorials on UA-cam, Clear, concise and to the point. I appreciate you posting these videos in steps instead of cramming all of the information in one video and not speaking too fast to understand. Thank you Dylan!
Thanks bro...considering picking up one of these and many of the videos are very long and drawn out...I was simply looking for what do the control sticks do and you nailed it in two minutes. Much appreciated.
Thank you Dylan. Appreciate this. I'm heading out for my first actual flight with my mini2 right now. Did my first test flight earlier this week in -16 degrees, set up compass and such and the mini 2 it did great! I'm now heading out to get in some practice time now that it stopped snowing and the wind has died down. Thanks again, (new sub) :)
What I find completely counter intuitive (for people that have played games using a controller, or really just used this type of controller with two joysticks) is that the movement and spin controls are flipped. So muscle memory will always try to use left stick for movement and the other to spin and go up/down. These controls seem to be apparent in all of DJI drones, as I've got the Tello drone and the controls for it are the same. Just wish there were more options to customise these controls.
Great your tutorial sir, this my dreams mavic mini 2. i am a trucker from here philippines, i am small youtuber. Hope soon i get buy the mavic mini 2 i use for my vlog
thanks dylan, just got the drone yesterday, the dji fly app in not compatible with my present phone, so am shopping for a new phone, is there anyway to fly the drone WITHOUT A PHONE, have seen a couple of vids on UA-cam to do this, but none of the methods shown worked for me, appreciate this video, cheers from canada
I have the dji mini 2 , im stuck on 1080p and cant get 4k i reinstalled the app and same thing, any ideas? i cant get into the video setings like everybody else to even switch to 2k thanks
I just bought a mini 2 and have been flying an Autel Evo previously, but the orientation still confuses me. I get so nervous when the drone is 3,000' away. I need to learn to trust the technology. I have been trying to always fly with the butt of the drone facing me, but with the sensor on the DJY Fly app I understand that isn't necessary. Any advice for getting more comfortable with the drone facing opposite? I still fly like a rookie.
@@JP1970 That wasn’t even a joke. Think how funny I can be when I’m trying 😭 it really is trust though. I did the ‘New drone SOP’ of taking it straight up to 350ft and panned around. Got bored so flew a bit lower. When it landed I see this tiny bit of plastic with little props... it doesn’t make sense that it was that that was 350ft up and stable. I’m hoping my trust and confidence grows over the next few weeks so I can get a bit more relaxed and adventurous
Damn. Wish I'd watched this before I crashed a wall and cracked the plástic drone cover. The prop guards I bought would have saved it but I didn't put them on. Rookies, respect the drone!,
can you change the orientation? like the forward, back, left, right is in the left stick? I am gaming a log of racing game and that orientation is somewhat happen in my left hand,
Its always shows, mobile device cpu is fully loaded performance will be affected, on the screen, how can I fix this, due to this problem I had crash my drone 2times,
Thank Dylan, I just just got this drone because it will be fun to have on the golf course. I also have the Mavic Pro. Can you do the quickshots for this drone? The orbit mode is how I crashed my Mavic drone into the side of a mountain. Also if you think filters are needed to improve the exposure during the daytime.
Is it possible to switch the sticks around? Having played playstation/xbox for 25 years (and continuing to do so) I'm so used to the left stick controlling movement and the right stick controlling the camera view. So I would prefer forward/back/left/right to be on the left stick and up/down and yaw to be on the right stick.
Is there any way to invert the behavior of the left stick and go down on the stick for increasing altitude? This feels more natural to me, thank you for the video
For beginners (like me) just say keep the drone facing the same direction you are facing and the sticks will always make sense. The only time the drone should be facing you is if you want yourself to be in the drone shot That's okay but once you're done again face the drone the same way you are facing.
This seems bonkers. I have reprogrammed mine so the left strick makes operations in the forward / backwards / rotate axes. The right stick is up or down or move sideways left or right. It is much more how you would Imagine flying a plane. In my mind the left stick is about rotation or movement. The right is just about horizontal or vertical position. So if you want to go forward and down - push forward on both sticks. Forward and up - push forward on the left stick and pull back on the right stick etc etc. Way more intuitive imho, more easy to train your brain 😀 ok it is not standard, but you can set up most controllers like this and there are no such things as rules - it is all about what works best for you to give your the best level of control and enjoyable experience and results without frying your brain 😂
Actually, I didn't forget to mention anything. I mentioned everything I intended to in this video. This video was not a "how to customize your controls" video. It was a basic flight control tutorial for the drone how it comes.
@@deeyung thanks I guess but it's as basic as it comes. Not saying it was a dumb video at all. Just why not include those cotrols. I noticed you have to confirm those actions that's why I think that explanation would of been better.
I usually tell people to focus on the drone camera on your phone, rather than the physical drone. That usually helps a bit.
Just bought one. Once it warms up outside a bit and I watch a few more videos I'll give it a shot
Can you invert the controls, down is up and up is down? Like flight simulators
Just got in from flying my M2P. Love this stuff. Great video.
Simple, short and to the point 😊

Clear and simple direction and tutorial, thank u
Great explanation! I would have liked to have seen you demonstrate how to move the control sticks to circle and object like a tower or a building.
straighforward to the point.. thanks
Is fun to see you again, thanks for sharing
Awesome video! Thank you! I couldn’t figure out how to turn the direction of the drone.
That was sooo helpful, i just got mine and was anxious to try it for the first time, a big thanks to you
wow! the way you explain things are so good. You should do more drone videos and more tech stuff.
Great instructions, thank you for taking the time to create this video 👍
Newbie here. This video helped me a lot. Crashed twice and broke two props, though. At least my Mini 2 can still fly!
Just how...
@@ron9509 Actually nearly hit a branch today while flying behind me trying to get used to mirrored input and video control.I guess it happens man
Just got mine....we'll see how it goes 🤣
@@sadansangabriel4245 best of luck!

Great video, nice and straight to the point. Fanx!
Love ur detailed explanation. So helpful
thanks for the basics.
very clear demo i love it
Thanks, Dylan!
Very clear for a bigginer
Great lesson!!
Its very simple, control from Drone's perspective/pov.
I agree. I just look at the screen and I imagine I am the drone.
u good man thanks trillion from myanmar ....
Thanks for this useful tutorial! I would like to survey my roof. Any good app to plan the flight and let the mini 2 do the job on autopilot? Thanks!

There is. Just choose mode 1 not 2. 2 is the default. 1 is for LEGEND mode aka what gamers used to
Just got mine yesterday. 1st thing is I made sure to put insurance on it and ill fly in the next couple of days 😁
Simply, quickly and shortly ! 👍
thanks i watched this right before i flew my mini 2
If you play video games the analog sticks are “southpaw” settings 😂
Just because you like the niners I’m subbing
Thank you so much!
I think I'll be using return to home quite often.
After pairing what is the problem if the drone doesn't want to read the remote control
Thank you very much bro
Great videos sir!

Nice hoodie bro 🤟🏾
When the drone is not visible how do we know if it’s facing us?
Thank you🎉

Yes you can, I have mine setup with left joystick is forwar/back and left to right, and the right joystick is up/down and pan left/right
Its always shows, mobile device cpu is fully loaded performance will be affected, on the screen, how can I fix this, due to this problem I had crash my drone 2times,
Can up and down be switched to invert
Probably would help if you was flying back to yourself is to have your back facing the drone so the control are left and right may make it easier
Maybe better to think of the left stick making it rotate clockwise or anti/counter clockwise? Just a thought - I haven’t got one yet 😉

NOW I NEED TO FIND ANOTHER VIDEO TO LAND IT
OR you could also face away from the drone if it's facing you? lol
