    Thank you. I’ve been looking at this mic but your video is the only one I’ve seen with a distance test. I might be picking this mic up.

    As a person with a moderate form of obsession with microphones (“junkie” in America-speak), and now a (still happy) owner of a full dual DJI Mic kit - a much more expensive, better-rounded (pun intended) and versatile system, I have to say that the sound comparison you did between the three systems demonstrated that the guys at Comica seriously progressed since the time of CVM-200/300 system: I actually like the Vimo sound better than Hollyland and RODE - it's deeper and richer (NB: I'm not an audiophile, but I know how to tell good sound from bad sound).
    As for DJI vs. RODE WG II - it was a no-brainer for me, even given that where I live a DJI system costs 1.5 times more than RODE WG II. My idea is that folks at DJI just took everything that RODE WG II users are not happy with, compiled a checklist and methodically went over it, ticking all the boxes... and actually updated the firmware twice since release, both updates being useful and important.
    In this video I also noticed a signal half-dropout at ≈20:29, after the words ”not really noticeable”. Maybe it was the only dropout like that, but in my line of work even that is usually not quite acceptable.
    Given the system price though (£110 where I am if delivered from China, import duties non-existent) and target audience, it is very much tolerable (I would not consider a system without an option of plugging in a proper lapel microphone anyway).

      Hmm yes that glitch is odd, I hadn't noticed it before. I'll have to check the edit and see if it's there or some sort of UA-cam glitch.

    I have this same wireless mic system, have had it for several weeks. I don’t use the wind muff indoors and was wondering why you are? Very good and thorough review, one of the best for this item that I’ve seen. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      Thank you. I keep the wind muff on as a pop filter in case of any plosives or in case I breathe heavily downwards!!

    Thanks for the review. I wonder if the Comic and Hollyland systems aren't the same system in different cases? You mentioned a number of similarities, so maybe the two are siblings (or maybe cousins). I was also thinking that the noise reduction might be useful in a space that has some annoying but low-level noise . . . like my apartment, where I can't get a clean recording of anything because the heating pipes in the walls are always expanding and contracting. Anyway, I learn a lot from your reviews. Thank you again!

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому

      They are very similar in many respects. I'd still choose to apply noise reduction in my editing software as you have more control that way.

  • @marksanderson1707
    @marksanderson1707 Рік тому

    The noise reduction made it sound like you were under water. However the regular sound sounded great to me. The range was very good too. Certainly considering getting this.

    Thanks for the nice and detailed review! 👏 I already bought the set and after your test will make sure not to use the local noise reduction. I recommend my editing software DaVinci Resolve 18 with its stunning noise cancelling tool.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому +1

      Thank you. I agree, the new NR tool in Resolve is excellent; you only need to use a little of it, maybe 10-20%, to get a much cleaner sound.

  • @jeg1972
    @jeg1972 Рік тому

    They sound pretty good for the price and considering how much more the Rode wireless system costs.

  • @OrenArieli
    @OrenArieli Рік тому

    Sound quality isn't half-bad, and the wind muff is quite effective...but these aren't in the same league as the Rode or DJI offerings which allow for internal recording and external lav mic input. For the price though, I can see these being a hit with the vloggers looking for a cheap wireless. I wonder if Comica will update firmware to address your concerns. My guess is that the 'cheaper' the price point, the less likely they'll devote engineering resources towards it. Nicely reviewed though.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому

      I don't think it would take a huge effort to tweak the noise reduction so I'm hopeful!

    • @OrenArieli
      @OrenArieli Рік тому

      @@TubeShooterMag running the NR in post will (almost) always be better, since you have granular control. Same for low-cut filters (the DJI Mics low cut is way too aggressive for my taste).

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому

      Oh absolutely but in situations such as live streaming where there's no ability to do post, inbuilt NR could be very handy.

    Can I connect Vimo C3 with iphone ? Can I connect it via lightning port ?

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому +1

      Not directly with this model; you'd need an adapter (3.5mm to Lightning). They do make a Vimo model with Lightning connector on it but it's not the same as the Vimo C3 (eg it does not have the same screen and I don't know if the audio spec is the same)

    So in your opinion, which is best. The Comica or the Hollyland Lark M1? We have bought the M1 but would prefer to be able to see levels as we are recording.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому

      It depends on your application. If you need to use the noise cancellation then the Hollyland (though even that can be a bit aggressive and noticeable but it's much more usable than the Vimo). The Vimo's audio level indicator is poor as mentioned but the rest of the screen info is good.

    That's a nicer sounding mic capsule, great range but are we all microwaving ourselves?

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому +1

      Errr... no. The output power of those mics is so astronomically tiny as to be entirely inconsequential especially in a world where the mobile phones around you are putting out far more power and even that is negligible in actual power terms.

    DId you prefer the Hollyland or the Comica? From the sound samples, I thought the Hollyland sounded better but I guess there is a lot more to it than 1 sound sample.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому

      I'm undecided! I think they both do a decent enough job for their price. The Hollyland annoys me in that there's no indication of the output level (though you can set it three ways) so you have to press and assume you've set it right.

    he noise reduction made it sound like you were talking into a bucket, however, when you went to turn the NR off, when you were closer to the mike, your voice became much clearer. So to my ears, if you're going to use the sound reduction, put the mic much closer to your mouth, or speak directly into it.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag  Рік тому +1

      Yeah. My guess is that in bringing my mouth directly above the mic, the ratio of my voice to background sound was much higher so the NR didn’t have to do so much hence it sounded better. It wouldn’t always be practical to have the mic so close though.

    • @TubeShooterMag

    • @TubeShooterMag

      You would need some sort of interface that converts a stereo analogue signal on 3.5mm jack, to Apple's Lightning connection.
