  • The beautiful town of Carcross is a town with many sites to see. First off it's where the historical White Pass and Yukon Route goes by and is now the end of the line. The Historic Caribou Hotel is the core of the town as it overlooks Bennett Lake. It is said to be haunted by many ghosts including Ms Gideon, a former owner of the hotel. Beside it is the longest running store in the Yukon, the Matthew Watson General Store. The remains of the SS Tutshi are near the water front. This sternwheeler was restored by the Yukon government, but unfortunately in 1990 just before completion, it caught fire and was almost completely burned. What’s left are the boiler, a life boat and the front of the boat. For more Yukon content, subscribe to this channel!

I did hear the RR truss was remade. Not sure how I feel about that. I have to admit it was cool. I do recall its a short drive from Skagway where a huge amounts of people are pulled from cruise ships. We did it with another couple, rented a jeep and spent the day bumming. Crossing back in to Alaska was fun.. NOT.

@@pugz910 Don't know if it was open in 2004, but the Caribou Hotel (the big blue hotel) has been restored and the bar is now open. There's also a new business area for small companies and shops. Sounds like quite an adventure you had when you came up here in the Yukon! I'm sure it's changed a decent bit since you visited the area. Maybe one day you'll visit again this beautiful territory!
