While Dread does continue the story, I really feel like a future Metroid has to be about Samus being hunted by the Federation. She knows way too much and her DNA is far too valuable for them to ignore at this point.
@@MorphBaller388 Yeah, not only do they need to be reintroduced to canon in a more tangible way after Other M's decanonization, IIRC the japanese script for Fusion pretty much outright states that most of the federation is actually pretty chill and the only issue is the bad eggs in powerful positions
I'd like to imagine a game where the federation is openly antagonistic to Samus would basically look like an entire game's worth of the chase scene in Across the Spiderverse, except more grim as Samus is actually clapping back (unless she loses all her powers first.)

I recommend trying the Special Edition romhack if you can manage to get it. It's got quite a bit going for it that I think any Fusion fan should try out at least once, especially if you like ignoring orders, lady :p
We're about to get a new Metroid this October, so, at this point, who knows how they explain the suit.....but the whole idea of the Fusion Suit, is that it's superior by the end of the game. She starts out with a massive weakness, but slowly gets back her old strength and eliminates the only major vulnerability it had - cold temperatures...and basically revives the power of the old suit when she absorbs the SA-X itself. It was symbolic how she had Metroid DNA integrated into her through this adventure. And that DNA, and how it was connected to the suit...is why the Fusion Suit looks the way it does. It's not called the Fusion Suit because it's MORE fused to her....it's the remnants of her old suit (remember, they stripped it down during her surgery) which took on a new appearance when she received the Metroid vaccine. The suit has always been this crazy quasi-physical thing she can seemingly summon, or take off herself (maybe not in the first 2). We see in her gallery photos, she can remove the suit with ease, just as always....but the suit's appearance is affected by the surgery and the presence of Metroid DNA.
I don't recall anything in Samus Returns that invalidates Other M. Samus kills the Metroids, spares the baby, flies off with it to Ceres Station... They did kinda awkwardly shoehorn in a Ridley fight, but he's in kind of a transitional stage between Prime 3 and Super Metroid, so it fits into the timeline. There's the Chozo Memories, but those are all Chozo backstory/creation of the Metroids stuff. If anything, they lean more into Metroid Dread than touch on anything around Other M.

BSL had Sector 1 that replicated SR388's ecosystem, meaning that aeon energy would've been around. the Bottle Ship did not have that. As I recall, Yoshio Sakamoto at the time had said the Prime games are non-canon to the series, but Samus Returns invalidates that with almost-meta ridley. There's contradicting accounts of what he said though, so, you know. Yes? No? Maybe? Also, Other M conflicts extraordinarily with the canon manga.
1:24:20 as a recent NYC tourist, 30 rock was a decent "go to the top of a tall building" experience. There's like 13 options and they'll all cost like $50 p/person, but it's worth doing if you're there

Mentioning Other M, I've been trying to play through it again, and I realized 2 things. -Other M is the moment where Metroid became more action-focused -Other M feels like it's trying to do Metal Gear Storytelling with bad controls. Maybe Hideo Kojima would make a more engaging version of that story.
Probably more likely got caught in a pyramid scheme. They usually have you buy a bunch of garbage telling you that you're going to sell them like crazy and you don't sell any at all actually and they keep the all the money you spent on 100 wii's

It would be interesting. Because on one hand that would be cool though on the other hand they’d have to change a lot of stuff to make it work (personally I’m fine with that. My reasoning is that if you’re going to remake a game, why keep it same, give us a new take) and also it’d be kinda weird since Metroid Other M was kinda a similar thing (in and of the fact samus explores a space station and recounts her past while taking orders from her old time CO)
I don’t remember who made them, but there are some Metroid fusion mixed with the sound effects from Metroid prime. You should go listen to them, they sound like Metroid fusion prime
it kinda feels like other M is a good GAME but not a good continuation of the metroid series. like if this was a lower production spinoff it probably wouldve been received better, similar to Federation Force
I don't think it had to do with the story, but more with the execution. If you watch a criticism piece on Other M, you'll probably get a more detailed take on why people didn't like Other M, as I don't think it's as simple as you're making it out to be.

I want a Metroid game where the plot is that either an SA-X or a real-deal Samus clone meets the actual Samus... only for it to turn out that the real Samus is the old brown haired version, and the blonde one has been a clone they hired at budget prices all along while real Samus fought the shadow government.

there's some Easter eggs in Fusion and I'm just messin I'm a big fan of Other M because of Prime never really paid much attention to the story's honestly I go back to Fusion the most they are all good games and the gameplay was solid out of all of them though dread wasn't it for me it was good but Prime remastered is awesome and the unofficial ones are cool AM2R for pc and Super Metroid but hacked on a rom of Zero Mission is always a blast
