Thanks for posting this, although from this beautiful weather, it looks like 1976, and to be honest I don't remember 1975, but in sure you are right. Lovely.
02:49 Was this shot taken from Woolgrove Road or Wymondley Road bridge? What looks like a gas holder in the background makes me think the former, although I'm sure there would have already been the houses (now currently to the left, where the train approaches the bridge) built in 1975? Any help on this?
A short film that reminds us how basic was the outer-suburban service on the East Coast Main Line before electrification. That started in 1972 and was completed to Hitchin and Royston in 1977. There isn't any sign of o h l e being erected at Hitchin in this 1975 film. The dmu service of two-car units (usually as a four-car train) plus Class 31-hauled coaches for the peak-hour commuter traffic was much as it had been in the early 1960s. The arrival of emus, faster journey time and a much better frequency changed everything from 1977.

Much of 1975's summer was sunny and warm too.
1976 was the iconic one
Not long before the wires from 1977 onwards
It's a pity so much of the footage is so dark, obscuring so much of the detail.
Why is it out of focus?
probably old cine cam film degradation
