      It sure is. Quality made, reliable motor, and robustness only matched by an HD truck

      IMO, there are only TWO "serious 4x4/off-road capable" mid-size trucks: The Jeep Gladiator & Chevy Colorado ZR2 (the ZR2 was much improved from 2023 onward). The rest are the standard/garden-variety trucks (even if they have 4x4) such as the Ranger, Canyon, Colorado, Frontier, Tacoma (and whatever). Ford COULD have directly-competed with the Gladiator (their assorted trim-level Broncos only compete with counterpart assorted trim-level Jeep Wranglers) but Ford bailed on their "Bronco truck project" so Ford has zero in the Gladiator's class.
      Consequently, there are only 2 "serious" 4x4 mid-size trucks to choose from presently...
      As for "serious 4x4/off-road capable" mid-size SUVs -- the Wranglers, Broncos and Toyota Land Cruisers -- that's another topic...but I needed way more towing-capacity then they were rated for so I HAD to go with a mid-size truck, not a SUV.

      @@Jason-Samko True...and although I DID try (back in April 2021) to get a new ZR2 (in Sand Dune Metallic color), and even put $1K down on it (@ John Elway Chevrolet in Englewood, CO), I couldn't GET it -- it "wasn't finished yet" -- parked with 20K other Chevy trucks at the GM Assembly plant in Wentzville MO awaiting their computer-chips. So going on 3 months of waiting and with "no ETA available" from GM I bailed on the ZR2 (and got my $1K back). Found my Jeep on the dealers lot as they had PLENTY of Gladiators (and Wranglers) stock. Chevy lots back then were mostly empty.
      Still, even though the ZR2 is much improved from 2023 on, I think the Gladiator (Rubicon) is the way better choice for me, both off-road and on (I do long Interstate road-trips, too). And a Jeep (Wrangler or Gladiator) is way more "@ home" back in CO (Rocky Mountains) than it is here in TX.
      Until I move back there (I hope).

    I just bought a Gladiator from Jimmy Britt in Dublin. When I bought it, the sales guy said they had to get it from another lot. The whole time I'm watching the video, I kept thinking is this my Gladiator? You showed several things that I was able to confirm, this is my Gladiator!

    Jason, Great review. FOr those of us who want heavily optioned Gladiators and Wranglers, it is hard to find such versions sitting on dealer lots at the end or after a model year when the spectacular discounts are available. Now, with the Rubicon X and Mojave X offerings, they come with pretty much everything except auto transmission, spray-in bedliner and those floormats (and most sales managers add those to ones they order). Should be some good deals in December with the 2025 4xe versions shipping (as you have pointed out).

      Sadly, this dealership has terrible reviews on Yelp. Not unusual though as it's so hard to find a decent dealer not only to buy from but also for servicing. Proceed with caution.
      Other sites rate them way higher, but I'm skeptical because they tend to rate EVERY dealer highly. No way that's reality.

      @@Jason-Samko Same thing happened to me back in 2021 (April) when I got my Gladiator: Was living in Colorado Springs -- Jeeps are the "National Car of Colorado" (okay, maybe Subarus are as well!) -- but the dealership there (Perkins Motors) couldn't beat the pricing on what the CDRJ dealership "up the road" (I-25 North) in Castle Rock had. Sadly though, their Service Dept was terrible (the worst I can recall) so I never went back.
      Still, I try to "support my local businesses" but too often they make it really HARD to do. Here in TX I met (in-person) some people (GM & co-owner, Service Mgr and an ASE tech) at my local CDRJ dealership and I think I'm good now. Got my Mopar Extended Warranty at another CDRJ dealership -- just in time as my 3-year/OEM factory warranty was ready to expire!
      As for doing routine maintenance myself, I could -- did that and more work most of my life on all my vehicles -- but as I'm older it's more of a struggle physically, but CAN do it (and still have my tools) if need be. NOW though I just do "less strenuous/complicated" stuff like engine air-filter, cabin filters & windshield-wipers...which is good because one dealership quoted someone $80 to replace the cabin filter. Outrageous...

    When you fold up that rear seat, can you remove that plastic under-seat storage bin or is it load-bearing? I’m thinking that if I were to go this route (mainly looking at the Mojave and hopefully they bring back Mojito in 2025), my Good Boy needs plenty of room for his pillow and room to roam back there. I’m waffling between this and the ZR2.
    My Good Boy *loves* to bark at Jeeps when he sees them, so this would be a woofin’ dream for him.

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  Місяць тому +1

      Great question. I know the seat basically sits flush on top of the plastic but you can feel the seat back stop hard like it hold itself.

    • @bobw75
      @bobw75 Місяць тому

      @@Jason-Samko Thanks for the response. It makes sense for this to have the metal hinge supporting it and not relying on plastic caddy support materials, but it’s a question I’ve been asking about all the new midsize trucks as I figure out which way I want to go. My Good Boy needs a rear air vent and walkable rear floor space so he can enjoy his ride too, which means removing the plastic rear underseat caddy in the midsizers.
      The Gladiator looks to have a usable multi-functional rear space, now I’m just on the lookout for either 2024 Gladiator deals on Hydro Blue Mojave’s or the return of Mojito metallic green for 2025. I also saw your recent video on Gladiator prices and your recommendation to wait, which makes sense from a model year end perspective as well. I’ll keep my eyes open over the coming months to see how these Mojave’s and the ZR2’s keep faring out in the world.

      @@Jason-Samkoyou aren't getting a new one for less than the low 50s OTD. Which is a lot of money for a midsized truck. At least with Toyota you get better reliability and resale. Although I'm pretty sure you can get a TRD Off Road for much less than a Rubicon. Hell, you could get a Nissan Pro-4X for $20k less! I really like those trucks but Jeep needs to get realistic with their prices. This is why the gladiator is down 24% from last year.
