Thank you William! This was from the China show 'Shine Super Brothers'. Dimash had to drop out of the show because he was ill with rhinitis. He had to leave to have a procedure done. That is why he does not hold that last note as long as he did in the original 'Stranger' performance. But in this one he did vocals like no one in the world has ever done! I was astonished when I heard that middle section. The original 'Stranger' performance was epic and jaw dropping. This one is almost unbelievable and it is live and in competition. Such an amazing singer. I truly looked forward to your analysis of this one. Thank you. :)

This performance was not the premiere in Sotchy but a special performance in China where he took part in a series competition for a while and Stranger sang completely differently than in the first performance. More extreme tones were at the start, at the same time it was madness, because he wasn't quite healthy again. He had to have an operation on his nose, which is why he had to abandon this competition as well. At the very end you can tell that he was a bit out of breath, at least that's how it seemed to me at the time. I take that as a sign that he wasn't very healthy that day. Such a joy, always, to watch your videos :) Did it sound to you like it did to me, William, that Dimash sounded a bit like a theremin in parts of the vocalize in the middle ? 😁 I call this one "the theremin performance" in my head :)) (just as I call Across Endless Dimensions "the one with vocal electric guitar solo" :)) And speaking of the E6 in this one, I have never heard an E6 so thinned out to literally a... string. I imagine metal pulled into string in a factory, as thin as it can go. Or something 😄 I have heard E6 many times from Dimash, but never such a *thin* , slicing one, so controlled and sustained at the same time. It beats his spectacular true whistle notes (disconnected), even the D8, the E6 in this one is pure mastery and a bit of magic, he sounds like a spectre or supernatural creature, not a soprano, to go with the spooky subharmonic Ascolta la Voce 😁 P.S. The last "again" with the F#5 lasted a total of 17 seconds in one breath (14 sec just the F#5), 2 seconds shorter than the original performance of "Stranger", because here he was suffering from rhinitis apparently, went for a bit of a wider vibrato, and ended the note a bit sooner. P.P.S. Loved the name of the autobiography, 'Ascolta la Voce' 😄 Dimash has covered the song "Know" by Igor, the version with lyrics, but also the vocalise version. He thanked them and said there are others. My interpretation is they are teaching kids from a very young age. Which explains why he not only kept but expands his high voices. I believe they also teach how to jump from different voices flawlessly. How to jump directly to a specific note. How to volume control at the next level. I would be interested to know what Kazakhstan has learned. I agree that Dimash has amazing talent. But I also believe a lot of his product is a product of technique.
Kelly, that theory would mean there are many male singers in Kazakhstan who can sing similarly, if not as brilliantly, to Dimash? Do you think that is the case? I thought he had been taught a long-list Bel Canto technique by a Maestro who studied in Italy !!? Of course, that is just my fantasy.

What's even more amazing is that he was not feeling well during this performance. He was ill with either cold or some sinus issues as I recall.

Next: you must react to «El Amor En Ti» from his Almaty concert. A masterpiece.
Great suggestion! I've tried it a few times and it's still being blocked by UA-cam!!!! ;-(
