Nope it’s because there is too many foreigners and expats in dumaguete and there not learning about the Filipino culture nor not learning about there history and this pisses me off with people coming from the United States and other first world countries going to the Philippines with that crap

I see the same problem in US neighborhoods with self appointed toxic neighborhood “police” where they gossip negatively using projections of fears against anyone they think is different by age or any other way. Ironically the self appointed police typically become the type of person they think they are protecting against by making drama.

I have an old school friend who I don't speak to regularly or see regularly but when we do, we just pick up where we left off. We have the best conversation and time together. We chat about our kids & our life in general. No dramas no hang ups.
I see a good friendship is built out of respect. Don't be hanging out every minute of the day with them, respect their space and they should respect yours. Familiarity breeds contempt. Above all don't get sucked into the vortex of other peoples dramas. It's just not healthy.

Another reason why there is so much drama in Dumaguete is because drama, like sex, sells... There are plenty of vloggers, expats and nationals, in Dumaguete that use vlogging as a means to supplement their finances so to create views, subscribers, likes, and comments it's beneficial for them to create and/or post drama. They find out what's trending, usually it's drama, and they jump on board. Ride that drama wave all the way in.

Drama goes on everywhere. When you get a bunch of men together they are worse than any group of women. 😂 UA-cam gives these cranky old men someplace to vent. What is unfortunate is when they get personal. Plus it’s ‘clickbait’ for their channels. I just unsubscribe when I get bored with it. Good conversation guys. Thanks Miss Maya and Gio. Rod

gossip is not competition ... nor is drama ... and drama can also be use as clit bait for views ... example if gio and maya give a big fight in youtube ... then you will get more views then normal because people like to gossip ... but drama can cause to much harm in a community ... making people to hate each other ... even break up relationship ... so stay away from drama because it causes more harm then good

When living in another as you said, you get to meet other foreigners from your own country, naturally you want to be friendly or become friends. When I moved to Japan, it was just like this. Also I had met a Russian guy on occasions, really nice guy. Another guy I became friends with was Albanian, we still are friends today, though I came back to the UK in 2012. Didn't have any Japanese friends as such. But, did talk often to friends of my wife's family (ex wife now)

I for one do not want to move to the other side of the world to be around a bunch of drama. the less expats the better. one of the main ingredients is the "celebrity" around vloggers. expats moving to the Philippines need to create a life of their own instead of living vicariously through youtube

I’m in the NCR, not Dumaguete, so I don’t have firsthand knowledge of the drama level there. However….I noticed a big increase in dramatic topics from Dumaguete based UA-camrs a couple months ago that certainly raised the drama and stress levels there. I unsubscribed from several of these channels once it became apparent they weren’t really who I thought they were.

It’s true that anywhere today in the world we live in a global village with the internet. I think from a viewer’s perspective the only drama I became aware of in ‘Dramaguette’ was from one vlogger who was outed for lying about a criminal past on other people’s channels. Aside from that, I believe it’s very important to realise that life is short and to be grateful that we have the opportunity to retire in a beautiful Country. Great vlog Maya and Gio and thanks for sharing! 🙏

I see as the vast majority of foreign UA-camrs had made a decision to pretend that "gossip" is actually content. But, I tend to ignore them in general the same as in my life here in the Philippines. I don't understand the logic behind moving to a different country and then surrounding yourself with people from the same country you left.
I don't care for chismosa, online or offline. I tend to follow the lady UA-camrs most.

I think in any close community like that, theres going to be a fantasy of having seniority because someone was there first and thinks they know better and that somehow gives them superiority over those who are newer. Like that old guy in an apartment building who thinks hes boss of everyone, lol. Also theres going to be jealousy or an underlying fear that the new guys gonna steal their friends away from them so they talk bad about the person to turn people against them.

I’m dealing with jealousy and crab mentality with a neighbor as I am finishing building a home in Davao Oriental on Mindanao, this particular family are a bunch of drunks they gamble all their money away their daughter is a prostitute and they’re jealous to no end because we’re building a beautiful nice house small but nice right next-door. I had hired the gentleman and I use that term loosely to do some work for us but he kept flaking out and so I fired him and will not rehire him so he talks crap all the time to the neighbors and my wife had to get the barangay captain involved so he’s walking on thin ice right now. I want to buy his property from him to get rid of him but he’s asking out for double what it’s worth so I’ll just wait them out I’ll be putting up at 3 m tall block wall around the property to help with the noise from his roosters and karaoke. As soon as we finish the wall and a few other things we will be moving on towards Polo on rent a place and then look at buying some property and building there as well then we can use the house I’m currently building for a vacation home as a lot of my wife’s family lives there. Like they say it’s more fun in the Philippines L O L😂

You sure do a good job holding a discussion and giving your thoughts. I respect that. Here is a song I want you to sing to us in your next vlog. It’s going to be a hit and you get all the views.
    (Verse 1)
In Dumaguete where the stray dogs bark,
And the rooster’s crow ignites the start,
There’s a magic in the air, a place to be,
Where the city’s heartbeat sets us free.
    (Chorus)
Oh, Dumaguete, where dreams come alive,
Underneath the sun, we will thrive,
From the shores to the mountains high,
Our spirits soar, reaching the sky.
    (Verse 2)
Down the boulevard, the palm trees sway,
As we wander through each vibrant day,
Friendly faces, warm smiles so wide,
In Dumaguete, love’s a constant tide.
    (Chorus)
Oh, Dumaguete, where dreams come alive,
Underneath the sun, we will thrive,
From the shores to the mountains high,
Our spirits soar, reaching the sky.
    (Bridge)
From Silliman’s halls to the old bell tower,
Every corner holds a story’s power,
The sound of laughter fills the streets,
A symphony of life that never retreats.
    (Verse 3)
Where the stray dogs bark and the rooster’s crow,
We find solace in this charming flow,
    Dumaguete, a tapestry so diverse,
    Unveiling beauty in every verse.
    (Chorus)
Oh, Dumaguete, where dreams come alive,
Underneath the sun, we will thrive,
From the shores to the mountains high,
Our spirits soar, reaching the sky.
    (Verse 4)
    Retirees settle, their stories unfold,
In Dumaguete’s charm, they find gold,
A peaceful haven, where they belong,
Writing new chapters, as life goes on.
    (Verse 5)
Yet amidst the beauty, drama grows,
Whispers of secrets, like shadows impose,
    In Dumaguete’s heart, tales intertwine,
Passions ignite, like stars that align.
    (Verse 6)
In the digital realm, vloggers take the stage,
    Competing fiercely, fueling the rage,
They fight for views, each moment caught,
    Creating dramas, battles well-fought.
    (Chorus)
Oh, Dumaguete, where dreams come alive,
Underneath the sun, we will thrive,
From the shores to the mountains high,
Our spirits soar, reaching the sky.
    (Outro)
In Dumaguete’s embrace, we find our home,
United by a spirit that will never roam,
Forever bound, our love will grow,
In Dumaguete’s heart, we’ll always glow.
