I don’t mind assisted open. I like autos and manuals better, but assists are still useful. They’re kind of autos for people who can’t legally have autos. When I first started collecting knives, I bought a TON of cheap Chinese assisted open “gas station” knives from brands like Tac Force, MTech, Tiger USA, X Bay, Snake Eye Tactical, Super Knife, etc. I got a lot of novelty stuff like the assisted stilettos, “Zombie” karambits, EMT knives, etc. I started buying those less and less once I graduated to the good brands like Kershaw, Gerber, etc.
The CRKT with that and the loose ball bearings are fine if you buy new and don’t take them apart ever really. They seem to never go back together 100% and that kinda sucks.
Kershaw and Gerber are still extreme budget brands though, 50-100 bucks for a knife really is about the cheapest you can possibly go for a decent knife with brands like Kershaw or Civivi.
You are so right about just finding the usable cutting area. It's usable and has a definite intimidation factor or chicks dig it factor. It's is a huge knife that is really comfortable it pocket really beautiful and I want to get a custom version. Super happy with it but if you're a serious knife person it's not a trust your life it's cool and definitely can get you out of a spot. Btw the handle is ivory micarta
I should pick this one up sometime. I haven’t paid much attention to CRKT lately. They’ve given us some interesting designs. Awesome that you got to meet Stone Cold Steve Austin!
I got a M16-04SS and the grind was off and I mentioned it on a comment on IG. They sent me a perfect new one that they put a hand edge on AND a free M16-02SS. I love CRKT. They make a tough knife.
Yeah people do care. There's a lot of people that prefer assisted. And it ain't got no age group either. My favorite right now is the button lock. But I'm just as comfortable closing and assisted opening knife too. Or switchblade for that fact.
I think from the look and texture of those scales they may be high grade synthetic (ie; lab "grown") ivory. Nowadays it's pretty affordable and a very close match in look and feel to the real thing, right down to the grain structure of the material. Like lab grown vs. natural diamond; not a direct analogue of course but same idea. It'll certainly fool most people looking for genuine ivory, but ironically enough unless they _are_ looking for it, most just assume it's simple plastic when they see it in something like this because that's all they know of and all that was available until the 2010s. Granted I haven't handled one of these yet, but at this price point and from the look and grain texture I'm seeing here that's what I think it is. If it truly is just plain old plastic/acrylic then they did a good job in looks!
Man..this knife is a love hate relationship..im loving the blade size, its assisted and a folding knife..the price point aint bad either. But the blade style is what gets me. great for defensive slashing and strikes but idk about stabbing.. soo yeah. The color and fit and finish is decent too.
yea it's not really practical for stabbing, it's not made for that and tip might break doing that. In fact, self defense in general might be off the table. I think in terms of this just being a "display knife" it's there, but in terms of usability, this knife design is really meant for slashing and filleting things, so prob good on hunts or fishing.
LIKE A BANK VAULT 👍👍 love when knives lock up like that lol bro every time I watch your videos I feel like I’m listening to actor Jon Favreau 😂👍 awesome knife videos bro dig em tons of knowledge
I really appreciate how simple and high quality a knife like a Civivi Elementum is when you take one apart. CRKT needs to goto all caged bearings or just plain brass washers. The IKBS thing and assisted just make more things to go wrong and are over thought.. don’t need all that anymore either modern knives.
@@cutleryloverI read a comment on another knife where an older man who depended on his knife had to return one because it wasn’t assisted. He hadn’t bought one in so long and assumed they all were still like in the early 2000’s. So they have a place but maybe like 2-3 models not half of them. It’s why I won’t buy a Leek too.
I feel like the spring assist shouldn't be necessary with knives that have big blades heavy blades as long as they have a good detent with smooth ball bearings it should flip out just as fast.
I agree, sadly. The fact that this is assisted is the only thing that turns me off of it. If it was bearings or just standard opening, I’d be all on it. But something about an assisted open just doesn’t feel good to me.
Anyone in Australia Victoria know the laws around assisted opening here? Like can I get this knife? Because look I’m a human being and I’ve left bags and my wallet and other personal items around and usually things like lost bags get handed to police. I’ve had folding knives handed back to me from police before no problem and I want to continue there not being any problems. So… anyone know about assisted opening laws in Melbourne?
There’s nothing wrong with assisted openings, sure; but all my other knives from CRKT open smooth as absolute silk without the assisted spring open, so it feels a little backwards or unnecessary. That said, I’m a huge fan of knives with ball bearings in them and think that’s the best of both worlds and then some and wish they’d went in that direction with this knife instead.
I hate how much I love CRKT
Gonna have to pick this one up for the collection! I love the big CRKT folders
Just got it for Christmas. This is my first CKRT knife

That knife looks sick as hell, love it
" COLD STONE" Haha. I've been thinking about getting that blade for a while. Love the shape. I might just order it now.
lol yes yes stone cold, haha one of my many fumbles haha
I'm picturing a chubby Steve walking down the sidewalk eating ice cream...

It’s micarta? I’m sold. I was wondering what material it was.
I should pick this one up sometime. I haven’t paid much attention to CRKT lately. They’ve given us some interesting designs.
Awesome that you got to meet Stone Cold Steve Austin!
Actually the handle scales are a high polish ivory micarta
Oh is it really?? That should take dye well..
I love the new CRKTs. Besides the Ritual, I also bought the assisted version of the Homefront (12C27) and the Facet (D2). I love both.
I got a M16-04SS and the grind was off and I mentioned it on a comment on IG. They sent me a perfect new one that they put a hand edge on AND a free M16-02SS.

That one says more self defense then utility but a knife is a knife at the end of the day

I think they should sell it with a display stand.

Apparently they’re micarta scales, which I consider a plus.
Hey the website says that the handle is ivory micarta
It would be cool to do a pork man with this knife and a wernclif knife to see wat type of blade shape slashes the best
The kel tech of knives
I just bought one today (06/17/2022). Took advantage of the Father's Day Sale. My example has some lock stick though. ☹
R2D2 color scheme for the dorks like me, also. Just ordered one.
I hope you didnt call him Cold Stone to his face lol
I remember when Eddie Diaz of Macho blades showed me this

I mean da pirates had their sword like that I bet I will work the same on how sharp it is

Pretty cool foldable Persian dagger 😎🤙
It should've had a double-lock like on their CRKT Hissatsu Folder!
Is this ok for left handed people?
LIKE A BANK VAULT 👍👍 love when knives lock up like that lol bro every time I watch your videos I feel like I’m listening to actor Jon Favreau 😂👍 awesome knife videos bro dig em tons of knowledge
Cold stone heading to the creamery
lol
I'm pretty sure they said the handle is linen micarta. Don't qoute me but pretty sure
Looks, a little bit, like a variant of a navaja. Mostly in the shape of the grip.
I’ve heard of the assist mechanisms breaking - is it possible to convert it or perhaps upgrade the mechanism?
Hi Jeff, I'm looking for an affordable flipper slip joint with an under 3in blade, as I live in the uk, can you recommend anything?
I LOVE this knife
Hard to believe they still make “assisted” opening knives.
many people still love them who have a harder time flicking knives open and as mentioned for legal reason who want automatic knives...
I really appreciate how simple and high quality a knife like a Civivi Elementum is when you take one apart. CRKT needs to goto all caged bearings or just plain brass washers. Good looking knife buddy
Scary cool 👍
We love you Jeff!
Hardly usable for a lot of tasks but sure, it’s a little useful
looks like like the old spyderco catcherman with the integral clip!
Scary blade
One of the most beautiful looking blade but I have some doubt about the sharpness of this blade
I feel like the spring assist shouldn't be necessary with knives that have big blades heavy blades as long as they have a good detent with smooth ball bearings it should flip out just as fast.
It’s cost $
Yeah, I’d prefer ball bearings over a spring assist. That’d make this one perfect for me.
Wowzers!!!
I’ve said this on other channels, but CRKT is doing this backwards. Their flippers work perfectly fine without being assisted. So why go there at all?
I agree, sadly. The fact that this is assisted is the only thing that turns me off of it. If it was bearings or just standard opening, I’d be all on it. But something about an assisted open just doesn’t feel good to me.
Finally, a knife review
Its a little sword!
Nice.
It looks like a scimitar
Try turning the box instead of the knife, you act and sound like you own knives but don’t really use them on a daily basis
Anyone in Australia Victoria know the laws around assisted opening here?

There's nothing wrong with assisted, so why bad mouth it? I think flippers are the best deployment style. That's just my opinion.

Why does this knife gives me "arabian night"
Show me the biggens lol 😂
Just open it already
Crkt makes cool looking designs but execution is half arsed and chinese materials/steel.
Nicere
Very nicere indeed
