@@NeevesKnives , have you taken down the video that started with the CRKT A.P.C. slipjoint knife? Just wondering because I found that interesting and wanted to have a second look. Or am i too dumb to find it? Thx
CRKT knives have been in my EDC for over 12 years. Early on I had a couple of issues with two of their knives and contacted them. They were very responsive and I was completely satisfied with the results (which came at no extra cost to me). They have a design somewhere in their lineup that will appeal to just about anyone looking for a knife. Trust is worth something, and they have mine.
If the CRKT Ritual speaks to you, I would strongly recommend going for the full sized version instead of the mini. The ergos on the full size are amazing and it makes for a very fun experience. It's more of a "cool factor" knife than a carry knife, so you really want to get the most out of the experience of handling it. Even though it is an assisted opener, it's fun to play with and its hard to leave it alone and not constantly mess around with it. Other than the negatives mentioned in the video, also be aware that some of them may have some lock stick before they break in. I have 2 of them (the original blue/white and the blacked out version) both put a smile on my face every time I look at them or handle them.
Just ordered the CRKT Ritual Compact Premium, I watched and read a lot of reviews of the layered Damascus treatment and I’m really impressed how far they have come.
i love the way the full size ritual. looks only. i know there isnt much in the way of uses. but i cant help to love the shape of the knife. great video m8
Every CRKT knife I have has the same issue with the pocket clip screws coming loose. I have tried red locktight blue locktight , nail polish and yes I even cleaned the threaded holes with alcohol and dried them with compressed air. Not happy with the product at all. Been through 5 knives in three years and yes I'm hard on them. I used to carry Kershaw Oso Sweet knife for years and never had a issue. Started buying CRKT because thats what they sell at the px and my only choice. Not so happy with CRKT
I agree with what you're saying about CRKT, it's starting to look like someone is paying attention to what is going on in the community. They have been producing crap for so long that it's going to take a minute to get away from that stigma. The last knife I bought from CRKT was like 3 years ago, the Fossil, heavy heavy knife which originally had a crap pocket clip that wouldn't hold its shape. Thanks for the video Jerad. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
My only assisted flipper is a Kershaw Leek with black aluminum scales and stonewashed 14C28N. I only got it because it was reduced to 60 €, down from 120. And there is actually nothing wrong with it at all! I was prepared to do some minor fixing, but no no, it's all good. I like how you don't have to pay attention at all while flipping it open, you can even slightly push the flipper tab with your thumb and it just pops open as if you just pressed a button. Very nice to operate onehanded as well, compared to a so called automatic, where the spring is under constant pressure.
I like that CRKT is willing to do stuff that’s a little out there, and having bought a few they turn out just fine. Was tempted by the ritual for that head-turn factor, but Id want a manual and in totally different colors
_All these other manufacturers need to get with the program, its 2024 and REAL DLC is actually a thing that exists.. not only does it exist, but it is far superior to blade coatings like cerakote, and PVD!_ _My wish is for them to now figure out that you can also do Satin DLC where you are still able to have black mirror blades, and or hand rubbed/belt satin blades with a satin DLC topping and still be able to see the gorgeous lines!_
I haven't bought a CRKT or KERSHAW in about 5 years ,in 2023 i got over 30 new knives. But one thing i wil say about both companies is that they have amazing customer service in my opinion. Anytime i need anything for a knife they will send it to me for free and not even charge me shipping. Anything from springs and torsion bars to clips to hardware to washers and bearings and even kydex sheaths for their fixed blades. No questions asked. Just tell them what you need and within 2 weeks or less everything shows up in your mailbox. I personally love that!
I will always love CRKT. They were the company that got me into the hobby over 20 years ago. Now that I think of it maybe I should hate them? I'd have a lot more money in my bank account that's for sure!!
All of the New Folders are Liner-Lock Folders? CRKT needs a Modern Fidgety Lock Type... Liner-Lock and Frame-Lock Folders, to me, are not desirable anymore. Why? There are so many awesome Folder Lock Types that you can open and close easily with one hand, without putting your fingers in the path of the blade when closing the folder. These Lock Types, to me, are outdated... Great discussion and presentation. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
i have a few crkt's in my collection, and i like them all. they're one of the more consistently good brands out of the multiple brands i have ine my collection.
So I watched your newest video on the CRKT obverse & heard you say it was USA made but everywhere I look says it's China. I was kinda like WOW m390, titanium, & USA for $275.... 😮
Bought a Hissatsu folder in 2017 for protection and I still carry it. CRKT seems to be a good brand for people who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a decent knife. I think sometimes people get so caught up in brand names and steel types they forget that even a prison shank made from wood can take you out.
Great vids tnx. Rituals blade is not in any way an edc, it is for causing trauma. It is a fighting blade used in a reversed grip for slaching and on the way back it cuts again. You own a Ritual as a collector or as a beautiful piece to have. Credd to CRKT for making this azum folder.
I really want the fullsize for this reason. The cool and intimidation factor. Tho I don't recommend using that kind of shape in reverse unless it's held like a kerambit. I know from experience, it's way too easy to cut urself
I love the Homefront and the Obverse but wow are they pricey. I also think that for $200 - $300 you should have top notch hardware…T8 all around, Ti scales, etc.
I think my first real folder was CRKT (still got it somewhere) since then I got few Spyderco, Cold Steel's (AD10 my favorite), Kershaw (almost EDC razor blade, love it) but from time to time I always looking on CRKT. It is great to see how they grow up and got better and better products for us. Love this new Alan Folts. Hope I can get it and still waiting for good EDC non-folding knife from CRKT, like SIWI which is on my battle belt.
I went to the shop, to pick up a Spyderco Manix, but they weren't in stock. I ended up fidgeting with a CRKT Definitive, or LCBK, and the action was impressive. I got my Spyderco, but I think the CRKT would make a nice EDC; light, fidgety, probably a good office knife.
I bought the Ritual, full size, 13 months ago, because I had never seen another pocket knife like it. It's a bit too big for EDC, blade is 4.4 inches and total length is a scooch under 10, but it's a bad ass knife, and I'm happy it's in my collection. Also, could never use it for self defense, no matter the circumstance, a jury would take one look at it, and find me guilty just on general purposes.
I've always liked CRKT. They are definitely the Toyota Corolla of knives. They work when you need it and don't break or fall apart ,but totally lack the wow factor.
At first all the sites (like Blade HQ and Knifecenter) had these as USA made but now they changed all of them to say Made In China. I wonder if CRKT claimed they were Made in the USA or they just thought that? Regardless, great video Jerad!!!

Have the original Ritual. Love it so much I bought another for my son. It's just too damn big for EDC. Will be picking up the compact version when it's available.
Hi. I loved how thorough you are. Thank you. I'm just a female looking for or affordable but long lasting knives that won't rust. I want a knife for food , wood, self defense. But I don't want to invest much. I really like the 3rd knife on this vudeo..with squared blade. Can uou please reccomend 1 to 3 knifes that I can use for what stated above? Food, survival, wood, protection. Thanks.
The Obverse is a step in the right direction, but not for anything near $275! I can think of dozens of knives under $200 that are just as nice or better. And if you really need American made, get a Spyderco PM2 in S110V for still less than this thing. I’m sorry, but we really need to stop paying stupid prices for some of these knives or we’ll just keep encouraging higher prices. If the design really speaks to you, great! That’s a different story. Buy it. But to me this is just a good-looking $200 knife. (Also, M390 has gotten a lot cheaper, so that’s no excuse for the price. I just bought a decent titanium frame lock in M390 for $100.)
I know CRKT are typically Chinesium garbage, but I think it's worth mentioning that I carried one of their M16 14ZER knifes as a full time, paid Operations employee at a few different fire departments since 2018 when I bought it. It's been with me through working structure fires, and through countless critical EMS calls in both the EMT-Basic and Paramedic roles. I've used it to cut seat belts and the window punch to break windows to rescue kids trapped in a vehicle in the middle of the Texan summer. I never sharpened it, never oiled or cleaned it outside of cleaning various bodily fluids off it, and it never failed me. The only places it rusted were the metal liners underneath the scales and a few small rust spots on the base of the blade. I recently reprofiled the blade into a drop point because I hate tantos, and retired it to being a permanent bunker gear knife.
@@ntstick06 I find it more odd you've never heard it called that before. Maybe you call it something different wherever you're at. It makes sense when you have a department with clear divisions like Administration, Support, Operations and Training. Fairly common around my neck of the woods, and the job is usually categorized as something like "FT Compensated Operations" with the job title being "Firefighter/Paramedic" in regards to the AHJ. As was the case in my experience.
I think I like CRKT more than I would like to admit. I own 4 knives from that brand. I really like the first knife... But I Pre-ordered that tiny little auto with a wharncliffe and micarta handle. Forgot the name but that will put me at 5, I cant justify 6 right now no matter how much I love em. I have 2 CRKT Inaras, an Overland thats is beat up to hell and was my first knife I gained confidence in resharpening, and finally a hissatsu. I think all those are good knives for their prices at any rate. I appreciate cheap and expensive knives.
I bought the original version of the ritual and it’s beautiful. Even though it’s one of the cheapest ones I own it’s one I get the most comments on when people see the collection. It really has a great knife even though it was basically $100 bucks.
I want a premium, standard production M16. I’d be fine with S30V, but nothing less. Titanium frame lock, with bronze washers. Bearings would be fine too. Also, a premium Fossil. And I am happy to see that they kept their billboarding subtle on these new models. That’s something I’ve always hated, having the giant CRKT, taking up a third of the blade. I too, am rooting for CRKT✊🏼
I’m all about a high quality M16. It was such a good design leaving you wanting more. Mine would lose edge retention just cutting through a spaghetti noodle.
Only got a quick glimpse of the lock on the Home Front but the liner looked awful thin. Not sure if that matters. Does it come apart like the original?
Great review format. Good coverage. I had a question about the last knife. That loud click when it shuts; does the blade dull itself in the handle as it snaps shut? What part of the blade is making contact with the handle? I’d hope it’s part of the unsharpened base of the blade, but that’s a loud click and I’d worry that it’s the blade towards the tip being bashed into the handle. Not a complaint, just a question. Thanks.
That Bear Claw would be an awesome back-up knife for ripping carpet. Kills your back and knees getting back up for the hook, just to trim a corner or something.
The usefulness of the assist is that you can open it knowing that it is fully deployed without even having to look at it. Can helps when working especially if you’re trying to make a cut in an awkward place or where you might not be able to see your hand and you know the knife deployed fully.
My opinion of CRKT, is that one knows what they are getting when they purchase one of their knives. My M16-14Z has been a regular carry for the last 15 plus years, and it is an absolute Workhorse of a blade, albeit a bitch to keep sharp. Although, even fairly dull, I once sawed through a hawser line in order to keep a bank of welders from being dragged into the water. That Obverse sure is a beauty. Reminds me of a mermaid.
That boot handled straight razor knife is handsome. Wish I had seen it local reminds me of the K Bar knives of 7os and late 90s. It could be a deal breaker though if you have to use a diamond hone. Still I wouldn't mind knowing how much the darn thing is?
Saw those gorgeous colors on the ritual only to find they went ahead and turned it into a blade for little people in the process.....hot damn that's frustrating!!
I really love what CRKT is doing while not neglecting their main "hobbyhorse" (not sure if that figure of speech applies in English lol). Now I wish Benchmade would make the opposite, like making a Bugout with normally good materials and not being oriented on premium materials.
That Persian style blade looks bad assed in the damascus and that hollow ground blade is nice too. But I hate the line locks. I have the KISS and Stiff KISS and really like those knives.
The Obverse is really nice, but I prefer knives from brands that actually make knives, even if they source some out here and there, being most of those companies are ran by actual knife people from the top down. Part of that reasoning stems from bad experiences with brands like CRKT in the past.
@NeevesKnives I do really like the looks of the Homefront. I do wish it was larger for my hand size though. I’m 50/50 on the DLC coating. However, I am trying to find the CRKT Redemption somewhere in stock for my first CRKT knife. Which I do plan on sharpening the false edge as well. That is If I can ever find one, and get it in hand. Both knives happen to be designed by Ken Onion also. By the way what was the movie in the beginning? Thanks for the videos. Peace.
The Obverse's thin blade and deep hollow grind make the fact that its choil is at the same level as the edge from the factory a problem. If you intend to use the knife (as opposed to collect/trade/sell it). The thinness at the edge will cause that edge to creep up faster than normal and pretty soon that choil will be sticking out like a sore thumb.
A $275 knife is not competitive imho. Even for m390. Give me an Artisan, We, even CJRB or Kershaw before I'd consider CRKT. And I know that USA made carries a higher price tag but knowing I can get more knife for significantly less $ is more important to me.
@@NeevesKnives No doubt. It is for sure good to see them stepping into this area and same for Kershaw and their recent belair. They do currently have a reputation of cheap hardware store Walmart knives. Definitely good to see.
i honestly dont know, i got it from youtube i was trying to find ww2 knives and i found a ww1 knife fight lol you can probably search and find it the same way i found it here ua-cam.com/video/uSugnYIr9uo/v-deo.htmlsi=UA2bfc8_TuhH9KBQ
And that's your opinion. That's what makes America great. No matter how wrong it is its still your opinion 😂 I'm just joking lol. If it's a good quality knife why not spend a little extra? You don't want a made in China pos that'll get dull and chipped after a day of using it. Idk I'm all about quality but again that's my opinion
I agree. Their name is synonymous with cheap steel, janky builds, and a lot of gimmicky designs. Not all of them but enough so I wouldn’t spend much on any of their stuff.
Ive recently gotten into blades HARD, but my entire life I’ve always loved assisted folders Ive had a few whatever cheap gas station folders A couple assisted A couple manual I always HATED thumb tabs, but thats because i never knew how to use them correctly An old schrade ive had for the better part of a decade I’ve just realized how quickly and smoothly i can operate the action now!… 😂 took all this time but im even middle finger flicking it better than the flipper tab does it I also picked up a manual civivi with a FLAWLESS action thats totally made me agree that assisted seems pretty obsolete at this point BUT WITH THAT BEING SAID, there are some pros i find with the assisted vs manual ie; unlocking and dropping the blade is safer for liner/frame locks since the spring tension prevents the blade from coming all the way down until you push it Or just their straight consistency -sure modern manual actions are smoother, faster, just as easy to operate, and significantly more satisfying But they will never have the consistency of assisted or automatic Think of it like a manual vs auto transmission on a car Ones more or less “effortless” and pretty efficient But the other one is thrilling and has spunk behind it
CRKT has been rocking and I am impressed with their efforts to broaden their line and even go towards the higher end side of blades!
Yeah I'm definitely getting more on the channel

I've had a lot of CRKTs, but haven't bought one since 2010. Maybe 2009! Might be time to finally pick one more up.
I bought the original version of the ritual and it’s beautiful. Even though it’s one of the cheapest ones I own it’s one I get the most comments on when people see the collection. It really has a great knife even though it was basically $100 bucks.
The link you provided for the homefront compact is orange. How do I order the one you reviewed? Can’t find it anywhere
Finally, they are starting to listen to the customers.
Best reviewer in the knife game
I also love me some good 12C27!
These are great but i still think i like my facet over all of them. I bought five facets so i always have one ready to go, i love them that much LoL.
The m16 is the quintessential gas station knife.
Nice sharpened knives! How many knives do you have in your private collection? What is your everyday carry knife?
I like the Ritual, I'd never use it, or purchase it at full price, but it's just a fun item.
Thanks.
It hits a stop pin like most knives so none of the edge gets hit, you are hearing the stop pin and detent pop in
That Bear Claw would be an awesome back-up knife for ripping carpet.
So manually flipping the blade isn't reliable?
@@pandafox94 yeah it is ofc but are u gonna tell me u never flipped a knife and had it fail? If u said that you’d be lying. Okay Ty bye
Crazy they got some descent stuff coming.
The best thing they could do to change everything is to go back to Made in America.
the obverse looks like a great choice
My opinion of CRKT, is that one knows what they are getting when they purchase one of their knives. My M16-14Z has been a regular carry for the last 15 plus years, and it is an absolute Workhorse of a blade, albeit a bitch to keep sharp. Although, even fairly dull, I once sawed through a hawser line in order to keep a bank of welders from being dragged into the water.
That Obverse sure is a beauty. Reminds me of a mermaid.
Cool knives. I only wish that had done a little better on the design of their field strip line.
question can you still take the home front apart with out tools ?
Will they ever make a durable T6 screw?
What movie is that WW2 footage from?
If that last knife was lefty friendly i would definitely be interested.
What was the WWll clip from
Technically it was ww1 clip, you can find it searching ww1 knife fight scene
That boot handled straight razor knife is handsome. Wish I had seen it local reminds me of the K Bar knives of 7os and late 90s. It could be a deal breaker though if you have to use a diamond hone. Still I wouldn't mind knowing how much the darn thing is?
Saw those gorgeous colors on the ritual only to find they went ahead and turned it into a blade for little people in the process.....hot damn that's frustrating!!
About time
these look like my 15 dollar mossy oak knives i bought like five years ago 😂
I really love what CRKT is doing while not neglecting their main "hobbyhorse" (not sure if that figure of speech applies in English lol).
Now I wish Benchmade would make the opposite, like making a Bugout with normally good materials and not being oriented on premium materials.
Do you know when this knife drops?
That Persian style blade looks bad assed in the damascus and that hollow ground blade is nice too. But I hate the line locks. I have the KISS and Stiff KISS and really like those knives.
Would like to know if the spring assist is removable on the Compact Ritual
The Obverse is really nice, but I prefer knives from brands that actually make knives, even if they source some out here and there, being most of those companies are ran by actual knife people from the top down. Part of that reasoning stems from bad experiences with brands like CRKT in the past.
Got the Damascus compact ritual on preorder. I hate assisted knives but it looks too good lol.
This very knife has temped me since I saw it was coming out! Not useful, but gorgeous and so cool!
I am here for knife rambling! Even if it was not rambling and rather an excursus.
* ads excursus to dictionary * lol
What’s with the quality control? The CRKT logo on that home front wasn’t even lined up correctly
A $275 knife is not competitive imho. Even for m390. Give me an Artisan, We, even CJRB or Kershaw before I'd consider CRKT. And I know that USA made carries a higher price tag but knowing I can get more knife for significantly less $ is more important to me.
Dammit I just got a blacked out CF Reate Exo-M recently. Time to grab the card again
Ok...what movie?!
Man I wish crkt would go the we/civivi sort of route with that obverse and give me like an 80 to 120 version of it. I totally dig that one.
They might, I know for a USA made knife with those materials and quality I'm surprised it's not 400$
@@NeevesKnives No doubt. It is for sure good to see them stepping into this area and same for Kershaw and their recent belair. They do currently have a reputation of cheap hardware store Walmart knives. Definitely good to see.
You check out the new miguron moyarl with grey pvd,and axis lock?!?
What movie was that in the intro?
i honestly dont know, i got it from youtube i was trying to find ww2 knives and i found a ww1 knife fight lol you can probably search and find it the same way i found it here ua-cam.com/video/uSugnYIr9uo/v-deo.htmlsi=UA2bfc8_TuhH9KBQ
CRKT no offense, but, if I'm about to spend $150 for $200 on a knive, it ain't gonna be them.
why not? you may not but others will....variety is the spice of life!!
What can you get that’s better for that kind of $$$? The CRKT knives are excellent.
@@The_RC_GuruThis knife is S35VN, which is good steel.
Ive recently gotten into blades HARD, but my entire life I’ve always loved assisted folders
Ive had a few whatever cheap gas station folders
A couple assisted
A couple manual
I always HATED thumb tabs, but thats because i never knew how to use them correctly
An old schrade ive had for the better part of a decade I’ve just realized how quickly and smoothly i can operate the action now!… 😂 took all this time but im even middle finger flicking it better than the flipper tab does it
I also picked up a manual civivi with a FLAWLESS action thats totally made me agree that assisted seems pretty obsolete at this point
BUT WITH THAT BEING SAID, there are some pros i find with the assisted vs manual
ie; unlocking and dropping the blade is safer for liner/frame locks since the spring tension prevents the blade from coming all the way down until you push it
Or just their straight consistency
-sure modern manual actions are smoother, faster, just as easy to operate, and significantly more satisfying
But they will never have the consistency of assisted or automatic
Think of it like a manual vs auto transmission on a car
Ones more or less “effortless” and pretty efficient
But the other one is thrilling and has spunk behind it
I've Always like crkt james williams series and m16 series above all
