      I appreciate when reactors catch what Taylor is doing back there. His voice has always kinda reminded me of Rod Stewart, but he can hit those ridiculous high notes. I'll Always love my guy, Deacy tho. I understand why he quit performing when Freddie died, but he's a bit of an unsung legend of Queen. His bass playing is awesome, he's written some of the biggest hits and talk about a loyal dude.

    Freddie said this was a gospel song that he wrote and if you think of it in those terms, the lyric takes on an even more powerful meaning. He spends his life working hard, gets his hard earned pay and goes home alone with nobody to share it with. He is praying for somebody to love and his voice is so vibrant and beautiful that I am guessing that the angels gathered his message and took it straight to the gods and goddesses. Good reaction on this song. The QUEEN catalog is massive so I hope that you will go forward and experience even more. Roger Taylor (Drummer) has such a great voice that he would be a lead singer in any other band or he would be fired for being better than the lead singer in any other band. Brian May (guitar) is so skilled and also has a great singing voice, this is how they get those amazing harmonies. John Deacon (bass) sings back up but never wanted to really sing so he just adds to the harmonic value of the band and is one of the best bassists in rock and roll. Rolling Stone Magazine called Roger and John "The Sonic Volcano". They truly are the spine of the band. And Freddie is the frontman and lead singer. No need to explain his talents to you, you just witnessed them. They were a true quartet, each member contributing equally to the outstanding sound and music of the band. All four play multiple instruments and have written number 1 hits for QUEEN. If you want to see the band in full action and Freddie holding an audience in the palm of his hand, react to their 21 minute set at the Live Aid concert in 1985. They manage to get 6 songs into that 20 minute slot and Freddie has control of the crowd on the second note he plays on the piano and holds them throughout the set. QUEEN was very smart with the songs they chose and the order they presented them in that show. In that set, you will see Freddie sweat and also smile so incredibly wide because he knows they absolutely nailed their performance. It is one for the history books.

    Ginger ale 😂😂😂 It’s beer, haha! Though he kept water up there too, sometimes with things added to soothe his throat. As for Brian’s 80s hair, he had that hair in the 70s and still rocks it today, only much grayer! Love your genuine reaction.

    • @laurenraubaugh9542
      @laurenraubaugh9542 3 роки тому +6

      Also this song is gospel-inspired in sound but also in meaning - the song has him praying for God to send him someone to love. The idea is that he works so hard but brings his money back to an empty house, which makes him desperate for someone to share things with. Freddie had fallen in love with a woman named Mary Austin - they were engaged - but split up when he came to terms with his sexuality in the late 70s and admitted it to her. She forgave him and they stayed incredibly close as sort of platonic soulmates until the end of his life. He had up and down relationships with different men until he met Jim Hutton (after this) and stayed with him from the mid-80s until he passed away in 1991. So he did eventually find somebody to love!

      There is beer up there but not for Freddie. Freddie never drank anything with bubbles in it before or during a concert. He said it would be very rude if he were to burp during his singing so he mostly sipped tea with lemon and honey since it would sooth his throat and he sang with all he had so needed it to keep doing his best as he always did.

    HILARIOUS point about Freddie not sweating!
    When I was growing up, Queen was experiencing a resurgence in popularity because of "Bohemian Rhapsody" being used in the movie "Wayne's World" (1992), but they were around since the 70's. They're actually the 2nd most collectible band in England -- meaning only Beatles auctions for memorabilia bring in more money. Aside from Freddie, that guitarist is the other star of the band -- Brian May.
    He actually works with NASA. Smart dude.

    Fabulous! Queen still are the genuine article! While their studio work is awesome, their live performances are EPIC if not magical! A testament to their pure, eternal talent! Freddie was inspired by Aretha Franklin when he wrote this. He was a huge Aretha fan. This was sung in the movie "Ella Enchanted." Drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May both still have fantastic underrated singing voices also. Aside from beer and water on the piano, Freddie Mercury (lead vocals) also had hot lemon honey drinks to soothe his vocal cords because, though they made it look like a walk in the park, their music is NOT easy to sing.

    Super reaction! Thanks. Freddie has a lot of different sounds, all beautiful. Heavier rock in their beginning, to soft ballads, to stadium rock, anthem rock, some rock-a -billy, some rock & roll, some 1920/1930 sounds tossed in. He can go falsetto to deeper vocals. Stick with the heavier stuff for now, Another One Bites The Dust, or Dragon Attack, Under Pressure, maybe One Vision. Later on, for a look at QUEEN from the 1970s - I recommend their song video "White Queen" (A Night At the Odeon/Hammersmith 1975)" You'll see the group with long hair, Freddie in a different atmosphere. More of a mythical story song. Just lovely.

If you ever wondered why he has that gap in his teeth despite being rich as hell, he worried that if he ever "fixed" it, he would lose some of his control and/or range.

      @@leonarae8496 And before that, on their European Tour, they had Morgan Fisher doing the honours on keyboards. Late of Mott the Hoople and before that with a teenage band called Love Affair, he was the first one they turned to when Freddie decided to stop playing and focus more on the singing and performing aspects. They'd got to know each other on tour in America, when Queen were opening for the better-known Mott... there's some fun footage of them somewhere on YT, all hanging out together..

    Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Queen. I know there are over 35 videos available so you get to have some fun. Queen is Freddie Mercury-vocalist, piano, guitar, Brian May -guitar, piano, Roger Taylor - drums, guitar, John Deacon - bass, keyboards. The most cool thing about Queen is all 4 of the members have written #1 hit songs no other band Ever has done that! and yes you really need to watch the movie Bohemian Rhapsody to gt a better idea of their history.

    You should really react to a song from the same concert. It's called Save me. That is one of my favorite performances of Freddie. He sings that so beautiful and the lightning and scenery on the stage is matching so nice. Give it a go !
