You know, my friends say that they all want to get out of this state and go somewhere else because this state sucks. But it DOESN'T. I feel lucky to live here. In such a beautiful wonderful place. I don't care if it isn't HUGE. I don't care if it isn't necessarily glamorous... i love it here. It's amazing. It's my home.
Your state IS huge Lisa. I think you meant to say the town or city you live in isn't huge.

I visited Rapid City in November and found the area extremely enjoyable.

Lovely state
There is something that draws me to South Dakota. It's strange, no? I couldn't get over it so I bought small house there and spend time there whenever I can. It's like therapy. People that live there full time give me a funny look when I tell them that but I tell them they don't know how lucky they are. Here's a surprise, Rapid City isn't as cold in the winter as you might think.
I have the same feeling. I'm in southern Minnesota right now, and I WILL live in the Black Hills area some day.
Moving there in 12 days... I believe the same way as you! Therapy!

Teresa Miller Good to hear cus based on the thumbnail of the Indian as "people of South Dakota" I just decided to never go there. We have enough Mestizos in the southwest US and they've destroyed every city they've flooded.
Sure wish we would stop making up the native indian story.. they are no more native than the kudzu..

meh to the shopping and dining and yuppie stuff. everything else makes my soul fly. i agree with promoting the native culture too. thats what led me to start planning a trip there in summer.

Don't let this video fool you people. I lived here my whole life and there's issues here just like anywhere else. Homelessness, alcoholism, meth epidemic, low wages, high ass rent, state and tribal jurisdictional issues, corruption, racism, oil spills, cold ass winters with lots of snow etc.
