Dimash hates to dance but his instructors said he was a natural. (Of Course) He learned to help liven his concerts. Here is what I can say about this, Dimash is no doubt better vocally than MJ, which pains me to say because I am personally a huge MJ fan, he was the King of music to me until I discovered this man. Dimash takes vocals to a new level that hasn't been touched by ANYONE and that includes MJ. However what I can also say is MJ is still the best dancer and entertainer of all time. MJ is still my personal second best singer though but even he doesn't touch Dimash vocally. You can definitely tell MJ is a huge inspiration to Dimash not in just vocals but dance, stage performance but also in personal life. he is super humanitarian and thinks very highly of our future generations, just like Michael did. And another thing I can say is although Michael Jackson resonates deeper with me because I discovered him when I was going through a tough time in my life and his music and story (who he was as a person) got me through those times. It seriously pains me to admit that Dimash is seriously superior vocally to MJ but it is the truth and I can't believe I am saying that. Still though in my soul MJ is my king of entertainment, dance, humanitarianism overall person. But I did think this tribute was so sincere and I enjoyed it. He tried his best and that is the important thing, but MJ does it like no one else can, in his own songs. but still i think other things Dimash sings is superior. These were cute and honorable. This is just my honest thoughts so please be kind with replies if there are any. edit: when i mentioned the humanitarian stuff I am aware that in Dimash's culture children (the future generations) are very important but there is still no doubt that MJ also inspired him to be humanitarian. I say this because of his choice in song in multiple performances, earth song is all about that humanitarianism, and about the children, in a performance he even had some children up there just like MJ did. again this is just what I take from it.
There comes a lot of things when you think about vocals. As you said Dimash shines in his own field and he shined in the Earth song much more than in Billie Jean. If he chose to sings songs like Billie Jean he wouldn't showcase his vocals but you can hear that Earth song gives him much more space to display his abilities as a vocalist. Michael equally shines in Earth song and the same in Billie Jean, he shines in the song Man in the mirror and Dirty Diana, Stranger in Moscow, Childhood... I think he is one of the most if not the most versatile vocalists ever. Could you name a singer who could sing smooth criminal and then sing don't stop till you get enough or butterflies and then do thriller or human nature and sound equally beautiful, on the pitch, full sound. When Michael grew up he stopped belting, he didn't really do vocal runs or belts, I don't know if this was his choice or he couldn't do it but there were other aspects that made him an exceptionally great vocalist... His vocals unfortunately were overshadowed by his entertainment, showmanship but his intention wasn't to become the best vocalist he wanted to be the best entertainer. I agree, Michael couldn't have done what Dimash does but Dimash can't do what Michael did and that's the same situation with all the people who cover Michael. By the way, I love that Dimash loves Michael, I just recently got into Michael and love him more and more every day. A great person to have as a role model.
