I love when Crow argues like a little kid. Trace's mannerisms are so on point.

For a moment there I thought the dog left the scene thinking "What? I'm not getting top billing? That's it, I'm outta here!"

No, that isn't the same Davy Jones that was a Monkee. He had an early career, but it was on stage as the Artful Dodger in Oliver! And he first appeared doing a number from that musical play on Ed Sullivan Show. It was the same night when The Beatles were introduced to American TV. Jones later said it was the experience of watching The Beatles from off stage, and seeing the reaction of the girls in the audience, that enticed him to shift to musical performance.
The Davy Jones who was with the Dolphins was probably American. They recorded a number of songs as far back as 1962, and I found one reference to a member named David Liska, who recorded some western songs, but who has since died.
The name of that band is ocean adjacent. Probably California based, but were drown out by The Beach Boys and so many other coastal acts. The mythological character Davy Jones rests in his locker at the bottom of the sea, so having Dolphins as your backup sounds pretty normal.
The Monkees Davy Jones was actually named David Jones. Do you know who else was born David Jones? David Bowie. But he couldn't use his own name because of the Monkee, who got it first.
Never has a movie intended for shock value been so dull.
A movie about drug-smuggling gangsters with a soundtrack that sounds like it was done by The Monkees. Superb!
Yeah, 'sounds like'. We saw Davy in those credits!
Definitely not a great band like the Monkees. At best maybe Herman's Hermits.

I wish someone would write some fan fiction where the Hellcats and the Wild Rebels team up to take beat the crud out of the guys from Catalina Caper.

When you think about it, this film was made closer to when this episode of MST3K came out, than we are to when this episode came out. It really makes you think.
Time is an elastic construct, agreed upon by common experience. The Flash of 50 years is but a breath in your drudge of 5 years on a single job. Another Time experiment, cashing out when you're vested and seeing how long the money will last. Too much time not enough money, not enough time never enough money.
You wanna say that a bit slower so that I can understand it?

Edit : I misread. I thought it was basically stating this episode was closer to the release of the movie than we currently are close to the release of the movie. Which is kinda obvious.

I will say I’m just now surprised to notice that Crow went with the Puckett credits name to reference ball player Kirby instead of continuing the Sixties Rockers theme (that included the reference to Davey Jones of the Monkees) with a referencing of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap 🤷♂️🤔
The show started in Minnesota. They had to make the Kirby reference (especially in 1990, when Puckett was at his peak and an argument could be made that he was up there with DiMaggio).

There were three lousy motorcycle movies they riffed on: Sidehackers, The Hellcats but what was the third one? The Girl In Gold Boots?

The invention exchange for this episode was kinda one-sided. All the Mads had was their Hobbie Hogs from several episodes ago.

At least there was one. The invention exchange was quickly done away with once Joel left the show. He was into inventions, and Mike was not, so the inventions went away until after Mike left the show.
This is a weird episode, especially in these credits. Joel, Kevin/Servo and Trace/Crow actually sound vicious with each other. Kind of unpleasant.

Film Torture 101 : put all your credits at the beginning of the film, assuring everyone has to see them. credits at the end rarely seen except by butts. apt.
To be fair on the credits, until the the 70s credit were primarily front loaded.
I've heard that various guilds had requirements on what had to go in the opening credits. George Lucas was fined $250k for not putting the director's name in the opening credits of Star Wars by the Directors Guild. The Wikipedia page on opening credits also has this gem: "The opening credits for the 1968 film Once Upon a Time in the West lasted for fourteen minutes." It's terrifying to contemplate.
