Cirith Ungol has been one of my favorite heavy metal bands for some time now. It’s probably one of the few bands I can’t get tired of, plus their discography never had a weak entry. It’s sad to see them go, but nevertheless, they will definitely go out with a bang! Thank you Ruthless 🤘
This list was definitely encouraging to listen to the rest of their stuff, as I wasn't sure if I should after "Frost and Fire". So it arrived at a perfect time, at least for me.
we'll see, I've moved a few things in my appartment and my vinyls are a bit out of reach right now. plus nobody watched the first vid. haha, we'll see, maybe some day. no stress. :D
It took a long time for me to discover this band but I fell in love with their music and the entire discography. They just don't get the respect they deserve.
Incredible and underrated band. They have one of the most diverse and imaginative sound in metal milieu. King of the dead is probably my favorite album of the band. And i love the inspiration in the elric saga mythology. By the way, it is possible a rank of the manilla* road albums?
I was one of those people who never even Heard of Cirith Ungol back in the day, it was only back a while ago when Metal Blade began rereleasing their Debut and then the band reunited and released Forever Black that I finally got to hear them. Instant fan, bought Forever Black and Frost and Fire first, then King of the Dead, One Foot in Hell and Paradise Lost next, and now the new one. Problem is, they ALL Kick Ass! Paradise Lost is my Least favorite, and when I feel like listening to CU, I go to Frost and Fire more often, throw the rest in a blender, they're all equally great. The E.P. Half Past Human is a great Listen too.
I think I've watched (and enjoyed!) all of your ranking videos and I think this is the first time I've ever 100% agreed with you on a ranking. : ) I particularly agree about the greatness of Paradise Lost and think more people need to give this album another shot. It's amazing that the album came out the same year as Nirvana's Nevermind and eschewed modern sounds so completely. Cirith Ungol had a distinct vision and a distinct sound and they stuck to it, never once bowing to trends. Keep up the great work!
Brilliant band, enjoy all 6 albums. My ranking : 1. King Of The Dead 2. Frost And Fire 3. One Foot In Hell 4. Dark Parade 5. Forever Black 6. Paradise Lost
Great video! Such an underrated band. For me it's: 1. Frost and Fire 2. One Foot in Hell 3. King of the Dead 4. Paradise Lost 5. Forever Black 6. Dark Parade
this is a tough one. rankings at the top could change tomorrow. 6. Frost and Fire 5. Forever Black 4. King of the Dead 3. Paradise Lost 2. Dark Parade 1. One Foot in Hell
....uhm...."Frost and Fire" still is untoiuchable, foe me, their absolute peak, "What does it take", with its mesmerizing moog is still an epic song, "Flint very unique way of playin' bass was so strong on "Edge of a knife" and, the legendary "Maybe that's why" with Jerry's great solo playing...aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh....
Great vid. I never listened to them growing up only discovered them from King Fowley of Deceased. Since that time I've managed to see them twice and I'm seeing them again at Keep It True Rising this October 🤘
Great band! But i needed time to like them. In the 80ies two friends of mine heard a lot of Cirith Ungol, but i was not really into it. Ca 10 years ago i had another try. And i understood what my friends liked about the band. In the meantime i bought all of their records and hope that i can see them live on stage before they retire.
I love all your ranking videos but enjoyed this one particularly. I remember seeing their 80s album covers in the record stores and being fascinated by them, but I always ended buying thrash records instead. Good times. Finally checked them out when a fried loaned me that CD with the first 2 albums on it in the late 90s and I was blown away. They’re one of the great metal bands, wholly unique, highly recommend to any fan of any kind of metal.

It's great how this band oozes early 80s sound and never tried to be something trendy.
yes, very original and yet so true.

ah, according to wikipedia he was an anti-hero somehow. thanks cheers
Their latest album is my favourite, I thought it was a big improvement on Forever Black. I like the band but I have to be in the mood for their vibe.
