This should have been kept. Not only this is a great acting piece, it also provides motivation for William Hurt's character, given how Ross hypocritically views himself as the only person who "stops trembling" before the Hulk and dares to hunt him down.
2:12 "We've glimpsed the back part of God", this really fits for The Immortal Hulk comic series and would've been a great way to foreshadow implementing it into future movies.
This is also what Edward Norton was talking about in one of his interviews about the incredible hulk but I guess marvel executive decided to skip on that idea.
I seriously wished that we got a sequel where Ross turns himself into the Red Hulk and actually goes after the Hulk himself which would have been a cool payoff for his arc. RIP William Hurt
It would be a tragic arc. He spent his entire life trying to protect the US, hunts down Bruce as its the one task that makes him a laughingstock from repeated failure, he destroys his relationship with his daughter cause his obsession goes too far, then he becomes Red Hulk and loses his livelihood and has to live as a monster for the rest of his life forever in hiding. Definitely a huge tale of how obsession can destroy someone
I believe so too. Edward norton stated on joe Rogan’s podcast that he wanted his hulk to be about cracking open the backside of god and taking something out that wasn’t meant to be taken
@@ciro9951 me too man. I would be okay with ruffalo if he stayed as bruce banner but if they had just kept the hulk design from this film it would've been way less confusing for everyone
So then will the be a Norton's Cut like there is a Snyder's Cut for Justice League? I joke but based on this scene I would straight up love that! This is like deeper level powerful stuff. The problem I think Norton ran into with the studio heads is the 2003 Hulk screwed it up for him because it tried to go deeper (poorly), so they cut out some of the depth.
My god what a speech tied in my opinion with that of the colonel and caesar in war for the planet of apes....even if is a deleted scene for me is canon and seem to take place just before blonsky recover......
watched a fanmade extended cut recently and I'm fucking astounded this wasn't in the theatrical one, it fits perfectly into the film and does so much to explain Ross' actions it's so good
William Hurt's will always be the best general Thaddeus Ross in MCU 🙏 even that's not going to be the same😢 still rest in peace. Harrison Ford will do great job play general Thaddeus Ross in MCU 👍👏
This scene does nothing but remind me of Immortal Hulk, the single best Hulk comic ever made, and Marvel cut it. They cut the best parts of the movie and people hate the movie itself because of it. Why? It's Marvel's fault
Marvel Studios was afraid of releasing a movie that was too "talky" and intellectual, once again underestimating the intelligence of general moviegoers and failing to grasp the real reasons so many comic book readers have remained invested in the Hulk's story for decades well into adulthood. It's not the smashing and cutesy little quips that keep us buying the Hulk's books. It's the depth, the psychology, and the mythic tragedy of the Banner/Hulk relationship.
Thank you all, for this confrontation (I am considering this as the 1st indirect confrontation). This really described just how big Hulk actually was metaphorically speaking

As close as Ross came to become the Red Hulk. His intentions were very clear.
Man I love William hurts acting in this scene
It's funny, the entire time Ross is speaking all I can think of are people like Vandal Savage the day he laid down next to that meteor.

This scene remains incredible, fourteen years later. It would have elevated the movie, and Ross as a villain had it remained.
Instead of Spider-Man or Guardians, they should have focused on Hulk.
@@QwuithLordDartoxThey couldn't with Universal in the way. Besides, Spider-Man and Guardians have two of the best trilogies of the series.
There's no way Harrison Ford will be as epic as William Hurt playing Thunderbolt Ross.
Rip William Hurt. Great actor
I don't think Harrison Ford will play a better Ross

Remember when the Hulk was actually considered a force to be reckoned with or scary? The last time that happened was Avengers 2012

Jared Griffin probably because of the conflict between Edwards script and the intent of the original scrip

Bob W that is very much true, very wise words my friend
Red hulk
Kinda sounds like Thanos
Yeah, lol
Omg he does lol
Imagine how Ross feels now, since he knows for a fact that aliens like Thanos, the Chitauri, Asgardians, exist.

Correct. This movie couldn't have existed at a better time, but Norton should've directed
But he still aint getting paid like regular actors😂
