Beautiful shots across the valleys! There's some excellent off-piste skiing/boarding coming down from the top of the Bochard lift, down into Mer de Glace. You'll need a guide, but it's worth it. It's a half-day run. Extra excitement when you see the guide has ropes, and explains that one of the couloirs may need roping up to get the group down! Do go back! (A guide is essential - there's only one or two couloirs that lead into the glacier. Other routes lead to "point of no return" steeps that drop off to near vertical. On the trip I did, looking over from the side of glacier where the railway is, we saw three boarders follow other people's trails - other people who had made a mistake 😲 Luckily the three 'followers' were spotted by several guides stood around us, and - after some quick radio calls - within 5 minutes a helicopter was above to winch them to safety.)

Thanks for watching! For this trip my backpack options were limited as I like to fly with only a carry-on and had a fit in clothes for a wedding in Italy I attended right after this trip. The backpack I used for this whole trip is the Osprey daylight 13L which is my most worn pack of all time and great for day hikes that do not require any technical gear. I also don't have a running style vest at this time but want to try some out this summer to see how much better they are for running. The place I stayed was great and right near downtown close to the base of the Midi. The town itself is very small and easy to walk around so any place within Chamonix would make access to trails and train very easy. With the town being in a narrow valley anywhere you stay should be close to the train tracks but would aim to be in Chamonix itself as you have a bigger train station, access to the midi and Planpratz, and town itself. Problem is I like Autumn in October, most Gondola, Cable car are closed...initially, I have a bigger dream, wanted to do 9 days Tour du Mont Blanc, but found out refuges will be all closed in autumn. As a solo, I try not to camp, avoid lightning too...still so much to plan :)

These videos have inspired us to look at hiking differently. What pack are you using for some of your hike/running treks?

So instead of summiting Mont Blanc you walked around 5 miles with zero elevation gain.
