  • Order Baader 2" MPCC MARK III Coma Corrector: 🇪🇺dobsonianpower.bcns.ai/mpcc 🇺🇸amzn.to/3uGlYwb This video is to help you decide if you are a coma corrector buyer for astrophotography, EAA or Visual and also to help people that struggle putting things to work with the Baader MPCC. I use a 12" f/5 GSO dobsonian reflector newtonian telescope, different eyepieces and ZWO ASI224 and ZWO ASI294 cameras with spacers and a low profile TS extension as my set up which works like a charm with this CC.
    Just add that in the ES 9mm 100º the field of view is 3mm below the eyepiece shoulder, so, at the metal barrel. To get the right spacing (backfocus) is to measure from CC thread until the EP shoulder and take 3mm to get the 57,5mm (or 55mm if M42 CC adapter used).

    I’ve struggled with adapter issues too. I found 2” parfocal rings helped with my 2” Barlow. Not perfect but it works.

      Yeah, those rings are useful. I did not use them in here but i have just in case. In this video i show how to use them to parfocalize the camera and eyepieces so we can change them without loose focus. Very nice: ua-cam.com/video/wH1edGdL-9s/v-deo.html

    thank you for the video. Like you I just replaced the focuser on my newtonian for one like yours. I tested it last night and did not get exact focus. I thought I collimated correctly. I was wondering if you had to do any changes to your secondary mirror to align with the new focuser or you only had to collimating the normal way. Thanks

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  3 роки тому

      No changes. But you have to proper collimate from zero. Start with secondary to the focuser and then all the process until you got it right. A bit of patience needed. It has to work, do it nice and steady.

    Hi Tiago!
    Thanks for sharing your passion (our passion)
    Question? Can I use this coma corrector just for visual observation?
    I have 12" Dobson collapsable Skywatcher, and not pin poin starts on edges...
    thanks!

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can. It's so good that i had it always attached to my 12" Dob. Never saw coma again. You may also parfocalize all your eyepieces, i have a video about it. But be aware that some cheap eyepieces may still return not so good results.

      I check all types coma corrector for Dobson, from Skywatcher to Baader, but I really can not see set up for visual, only info for DSLR or CCD set ups. Maybe you can make a video.

      @DobsonianPower  2 роки тому

      @@puigi1puigi12 the set up is the same as for the camera. I showed already with the 9mm eyepiece all the measurements needed, then you have to parfocalize the eyepieces. Check the explore scientific with the MPCC here: ua-cam.com/video/6Eulm0qze3I/v-deo.html
      And remember you got to have 57,5mm backfocus. Next Friday video has a part that may clarify you. I may do a comoact Baader video demonstration soon though.

    Does the coma corrector and 0.5x reducer work fine together?

      In my experience they did. I talked about it during this video ua-cam.com/video/H6W2K8tW0qg/v-deo.html

    Hola Tiago.
    Saludos desde España y gracias por tus videos.
    ¿Entiendo que usas un extensor de 2" de 40 mm y un espaciador de 20mm??
    ¿Podrías decir las piezas que has usado?
    Porque Baader vende un Varilock y un montón de cosas.
    Gracias

      He visto el video del APM Fastlock y tengo una duda, Tiago:
      El CC es lo único que está introducido en el enfocador del telescopio, ¿aguantará el peso de oculares de 2" UWA y camaras?
      ¿Habria otra solución?
      Gracias

    I like the explanation very much - very detailed and informative.
    Is it possible to have the same video but for DSLR cameras?
    I just found out that I am not able to reach focus (my setup: Levenhuk Dobson telescope N 250/1250 Ra 250N DOB) with a DSLR (EF mount)
    Wondering if this baader MPCC MARK III makes it possible or not
    I have also read that it is possible to reach focus with a barrow/powermate did not find an example with a my setup though
    Still not sure if I need to change the focuser to a narrower one (not sure what is on your dob).
    So as you can see :) a lot of issues and I am not sure buying an astro camera solves those.
    Could you please share some of your wisdom on the topic?
    Thank you very much!

      Hi Emil. I don't use DSLR, only astrocameras. I can tell you though, that the BAADER MPCC doesn't change the focal plane. To reach focus you need to figure first, if pointing to a star and move the focuser IN until the end, does it gets bigger or smaller? Like a donut. Tell me and i may help you.

      @@DobsonianPower
      Thank you for your swift reply.
      In prime focus (nothing in between the secondary and sensor) I can not bring it close enough (moving the focuser IN makes the stars smaller bot not small enough) - it seems that it should be somewhere close to the surface of the focuser.
      A bit about the setup:
      - EF mount DSLR has 44mm distance to sensor from the flange
      - EF adapter measured with caliper from the part which touches the flange of the camera to the part which touches the focuser is 12mm
      So the total of 56mm is between the surface of the focuser and the sensor which seems to be too far. If I am not mistaking to achieve focus the sensor should be exactly (focal distance) from the primary mirror but there is no mark or any hint where that should be on the focuser.
      Now with something in between. As you said the comma corrector does not modify the focal plane (does not push it out or in) so it would not help in my case.
      I heard that a barlow lens is pushing the focal plane out so it would be possible to achieve focus but how much exactly is not clear.

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower  Рік тому

      @@emilstoianov7437 ok you need to get that sensor closer to the secondary or use the barlow. That's it.
