    Hey Chris. Fantastic images.. Your really knocking them out of the park lately... I'd say just keep doing what your doing with regards to how you present your channel. The thing I've always loved about your channel is your easy going relaxed fun approach to sharing your knowledge. Take care pal :)

    Nice image Chris, you'll love using the Asiair plus, I have an asiair pro and was an absolute game changer for me, simplifies everything and all under one hood, PA, guiding, plate solving is amazing and saves so much time, nebulae are my favourite to image with my sw 72ed, keep up the good work

      My favorite feature is the ability to set up plans that aim the scope at different targets throughout the night. What a boon for astro-productivity! Not as useful on the UK's short summer nights, but a real treat during the long winter ones.

      Hi Ceri, thank you for watching it's appreciated :) One of my corners looked good at 73mm back spacing, and I think the other corners could be tilted due to having the coma corrector hanging so far out the focuser? Please let me know how you get on, I will be interested to compare notes! :)

    Hey Chris, great video! I like the new(ish) format, it seems more relaxed. Incidentally I also just bought a baader mk3 cc on the used market here. Waiting for it to be delivered so I can try it out.

      Thanks mate! and congrats on the Baader MPCC! I've had a couple over the years and it just seems to work well with whatever reflector I use it with so I'm sure you'll like it :)
      All the videos about making better video tell you to edit the pauses and Ums out, else people will click off if you don't speak constantly as well as being hyper animated, but you're basically learning to be not yourself. I think moving forward I'm going to be myself as much as possible and just treat these types of videos as an astro hang out :)

    Hi Chris nice image I've always swore by my Baader MPCC as it always worked well in my 250PX when I used to image with it, sadly it's to big to use in the obsy so I need to find something with a long FL but more compact. Funnily enough I were imaging this target last Friday, clear skies!!

    • @Astrolavista

      Hiya, thanks mate :) The Baader just works doesn't it! What about an RC's and SCT? These are great for tight spaces (both have pros and cons of course as you probably know). This is what I would need if going longer as I'm in the same boat (6x8' obsy) Clear skies!

      @@Astrolavista I always fancied an RC scope but they seem such a pain to collimate they've kinda put me off owning one, I'll probably look for an SCT at some point an edge would be nice but the wallet says no lol.

    Nice image Chris. I use a TS 0.95x coma corrector with my 533 + 8” F5 newt. It’s pretty solid, although the 1x is better from what I’ve heard, which makes sense as it’s a better four element design.

    • @Astrolavista
      @Astrolavista  2 роки тому

      Thanks mate! Yeah the TS x1 is supposed to work up full frame (accepting the vignetting with a 2" focuser) which means it must correct really well with a one inch sensor.

    I just got an Orion XT8 and I already had a Fuji XT4!
    Quick question please : Is there any way to CONNECT my FujiFilm XT4 camera to my Orion XT8 Dobsonian for astrophotography ? What do I need to make these two wonderful creations to come together ? 🙂🤔😌

    • @Astrolavista
      @Astrolavista  2 роки тому

      Hey lonut, you can connect your camera to your XT8 using a Fuji T-ring and 2" T-adapter:
      www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/t-rings/ref/astrolavista/
      www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/astro-essentials-2-inch-t-mount-camera-nosepiece-adapter/ref/astrolavista/
      However the Orion XT8 is setup more for observing with eyepieces rather than astrophotography so you will need to modify the telescope slightly by moving the primary mirror further up the tube so you can reach focus with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. My UA-cam Buddy Garnett has a video on how to go about this here:

      My pleasure Anthony, filming and editing etc does add a lot of work but I genuinely love sharing nights under the stars with people so wouldn't have it any other way :) Camera wise I wanted the Sony A7s III which can basically see in the dark but who can afford 4k so I researched a more affordable alternative! - Sony ZV-E10 with Sigma 16mm f1.4 prime lens. I know everyone has to be hyper themselves to present on UA-cam but if I watch a video back and see me not being me it does make me cringe a little bit lol

    Wow! Cool image Chris! I'm looking at getting a small Newtonian (130pds or 6" F4 like this) although I have a Sony A7iii. Seeing your scope struggle with the stars in the corners even with an aps-c sensor makes me wonder if there's any point getting one with my full-frame sensor. What do you think?

    • @Astrolavista
      @Astrolavista  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I'm pleased with this one :D The TS four element super flat coma corrector is supposed to flatten full frame sensors, however the problem is vignetting when using Newtonians with a 2" focusers. Also I know the PDS range has an oversized secondary for good field illumination but I'm not sure it's large enough to fully illuminate full frame? Maybe consider a refractor with a large focuser for full frame imaging instead, or use crop mode for the 130pds or 150p f/4?

      I used to have to convert The RAF to Tiffs using one of the free online converters (free if you only convert a handful of frames each day), however the latest version of DSS lets you use Fuji RAF files (The caveat being it does take longer to stack compared to a Canon camera for example.
