I have really enjoyed watching all of your videos. I recently have taken my kayak out from a long rest (used to live in Vermont and am now in SC). This really makes me want to pack it up and take it on some overnight trips. I love your Maddy. I wish my two would travel like that because I would love to bring them. Thank you for posting these!
Well I said Iit before and I'll say it again...Go Troy Go!!!! I agree with Maddy ...get some serious snoozing in....I also agree that this has great watching this series and having to wait for the next episode is a really good idea Troy.
I still come back to this series for comfort. I watched this series when it first came out. I was so much younger, much more ambitious. I envy your motivation. Life was good, it was easy back then. I am so sorry Maddy moved on. Hope all is well.
Hi Marcus, it really makes me happy to know this video brings you comfort, thanks for telling me. Believe it or not, Maddy is still with us although her camping days only happen in videos and memories now. We're enjoying each day with her as we don't know how long we'll get but she's still up and and about and finding joy in each day. Things are well here, take care Marcus.
Fellow Camper. In case it interests you, "Big Agnes" makes inflatable sleeping pads, at least half the weight and pack size of "thermarest." i have not gone back since making the switch in my own gear. i liked your idea with the "shoe goo" on the pad for slippage! nice videos, thanks for uploading.
Forgot to mention. I go to Algonquin every year, and you touched some of the same spots i have been through. I am almost Positive i built one of the fire pits at a campsite you encountered on this journey! haha, small world!
One thing I used to do is when I had a tarp over my tent and its raining out is put something under the run off to collect the rain water, the rain water dripping off your tarp, u can use pots to collect this fresh water resources, you have pots setting there empty , its fresh water u do not have to boil :)
Yep, you are right....great way to collect water. It's just that, on this trip, he is carrying a Katadyn Water Filter.....so his need to do so has been minimized. You can see him filtering water in other videos of this trip. :)
Great Vid as usual... and @12:10 ... don't let your wife see that part... or else you will be the only one doing the laundry in your household from now on!
What size tarp are you using? A friend of mine has the same make and he swears by the product. I just found that his was a little too small to cover the tent that i have. Cheers, KG
Hey troy. i noticed your light weight with everything you have. how come you have such a large tent. I know you have a family that you must go camping with too. but you spend so much on your other solo gear why not a tent too?
try this clothes washing idea.i heat as much water as i can in what cook gear i have along and mix it with lake water in a couple of those plastic water "tanks" by Platypus .then i stand on my dirty clothes on a clean rocky spot.a bit of water on my hair and some Campsuds worked in and then a rinse.the clothes get wet from the run off and i stomp around on them.more water and a bit more soap and a big finish with lots of water and more stomping.hang and dry and you have washed in hot water.
I'm still here! Alive and well with the Goose. I just haven't been able to get the time to throw together some new videos but I do plan on it. Much of my time has been taken up working on my new site, www.TheGearLoft.com. Check it out, it's under active development and would love to get you guys on board!
Thanks for the great posts. I remember you mentioning you were going to search for a better collapsable bowl, AND after seeing it in use I can definitely see why. Just a suggestion that you might consider, I use a collapsable PVC bowl from NRS that is much more rigid @ NRSweb.com. Again, thanks for the videos and keep 'em coming ;)

I understand what you were saying about the walls of the portable sink in your other video, maybe Sea to Summet makes one you could replace it with.

I'd love to see a video of how you set your tarp up like that.
Hi there. Tanks for the videos. I am looking for the rope tie downs you use to keep the rope on the painter. I'm in Toronto. Where can I get them?
