Love the look back at 0:41 from Bond, just making sure the guy behind him is dead. He has learnt from his mistakes in the opening plane scene from Tomorrow Never Dies!
My all time favorite Bond opening scene : the big waves before the dawn, the cold and muddy atmosphere, the military base, the colors, the hovercrafts, the scrap's noises and bullets sounds. And the icing on the cake : this shot at 1:54. It's pure gold to me. _Die Another Day_ is at best acceptable, but I ADORE its opening sequence, gunbarrel included.
What I love about him trying to shoot the mine is he's clearly struggling a bit. Still crazy Bond/movie-secret-agent levels of skilled, but there are a few times in this movies in particular where we see him _not_ make "the perfect shot". The other one that's always stuck in my head is when he shoots down the giant chandelier near the end. Hitting a tiny cable with a pistol from a moving car _at all_ is, again, Bond levels of crazy skilled... but instead of dramatically aiming and firing one perfect shot, he just spams a bunch of shots at it. It's these little things that help keep the character feeling human, even if, again, movie levels of absurd talent.
They had such a cool premise with Bond being tortured, how could it affect him viewer thinks? No worries mates, a rechargeable Philips Philishave Sensotec HQ8894 and Bond is good as new. Worried about mental illness and physical toll after months of torture? A rechargeable Philips Philishave Sensotec HQ8894 can make it all go away. Always have a rechargeable Philips Philishave Sensotec HQ8894 with you wherever you go. Craig's Bond didn't have this wonderful razor, so he actually had to go through whole process of recovery in Skyfall, what a pussy.
I'd agree he had the suave style of Bond while keeping some of the gritty action we'd seen in the Dalton era of films, I was born in 1990 so he was my generation's Bond.
Brosnan is still the best, too bad they didn’t have him another film to finish. At least his image is in the two video games night fire and everything or nothing
Every Bond actor to date deserved a better sendoff? Diamonds Are Forever? Corny jokes, misscast villain, cheap effects. A view to a kill? Roger Moore is too old and Stacey is a terrible Bond girl. But apart from these 2 aspects, It think a view to a kill is actually a pretty good film. I am among the very few people who absolutely dislike licence to kill. Completely overfilled with disgusting violence, terrible acting from Soto and a too long self obsessed title song. Die another day? Bad plot, terrible CGI but quite fun to watch! If Craig would have been done with spectre, he would have been the only Bond to have a good exit. I found Spectre really good. And well Lazenby? 1 excellent film!
I grew up watching Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. I was 9 when _GoldenEye_ (1995) came out, 11 when _Tomorrow Never Dies_ (1997) came out, 13 when _The World Is Not Enough_ (1999) came out and 16 when _Die Another Day_ (2002) came out.
Fun Fact:Brosnan was originally asked to play.007 in the Timothy Dalton films but NBC wasn't going to allow him out of his contract for playing in Remington Steele.
Terrible CGI, ridiculous plot, exaggerated characters, and a random tonal shift from dark movie with Bond being a POW to a movie that would look out of place even in the Roger Moore era.
Surfing Scene Halle Berry as a bond girl Invisible Car Fencing Scene Madonna's Song Awful CGI Perhaps the best way to describe it is the tonal shift. It goes from being this dark and gritty opening to an episode of the cartoon James Bond Jr.

Die Another Day has some genuinly great action scenes, but it's real weakness is the over the top nature of the characters and dialogue. Still far more watchable to me than something like Quantum of Solace, which tries its hardest to make you hate your eyes.
@@Firemarioflower Craig acted better in Cowboys vs Aliens And I forgot the name but a Mafia movie with him and Tom Hanks was top notch. His Bond was simply "play a stereotype" and so he did

Die Another day is bad because of its unrealistic plot and terrible CGI! But at least its damn entertaining and fun to watch! Its completely over the top, yet fun and not boring
I think this film would've performed better/had a more interesting and unique feel to it if it were more a story about Bond getting captured, like he does here, but the entire film is the story of him going through all the torture and tormenting and various escape attempts n' such.
Die another day is a great action movie and it doesn't deserve such hate. Even the Daniel Craig fanboys should notice that: the first half is pretty much like Skyfall. We have a Bond taken down/captured, abandoned/left for dead by his superiors. When he finally gets back to his job, he is dishevelled, angry and longing for revenge. What follows, even the fencing scene, is awesome! I admit, though, that things go downhill during the second half, starting from the scenes in the ice palace. But it had to do with poor writing, everything else is just fine. Regarding the special effects, only the "kitesurf on a big wave" scene doesn't fly, especially not now. Even for the time, that was bad CGI... Anyway, Brosnan is the best Bond and it's a shame he only had four movies to show it!
Except Daniel Craig's Bond looked psychologically damaged and physically broken. Pierce Brosnan's Bond is released from prison with a body that looks like he's been enjoying too many takeaways😂
So everything is grey and brown, and the bad guys are inexplicably unable to do anything effectively, allowing Bond to win despite a total lack of cleverness. Stunning.
Like, seriously. The driver's window isn't bulletproof? He can hit a landmine firing blind in a moving hovercraft? He can just ignore a heavy machinegun fired at him without any cover, and it doesn't even damage his vehicle? There's no tension in this scene, or any other scene in the movie, because it makes it very clear that Bond is simply invincible.
God this opening is so bond tho, Infiltrating north Korea, Disguising as another person, Blowing up shit and then to top it off a chase on hover craft through the DMZ
I know this movie is very disliked, but I feel you can on enjoy it on an absurd Moonraker level. I think people forget that's where Bond went to outer space, there was a lazer gun battle, and Jaws fell in love.
At least that movie was consistently bizarre and out there. DAD started off as a somewhat gritty POW story and then shifted into goofiness near the end of the first act
It goes further than that. Impress his father, and make North Korea the most powerful nation , have revenge on Japan and all other allies of the West, and fight against America.
If the whole movie had sequences like this it would’ve been so much better. It began so strong then fell off. The Cuba scene wasn’t bad either but that’s about it. The water sailing scene was so so bad lol
The only great part of the worst film in the series. Seriously how the heck do you go from this great, well crafted and serious action scene to all the goofiness and sheer stupidity that came after it.
