@@FragM3 I know he has provided vids on the Guest network and IoT network, and they're great. Which is why a similar video for a camera network would be nice too.
@@MrGatlin98 Just apply the same concept. Choose a different subnet (192.168.40.1) and make all the same firewall rules, add to any existing rules to include the new .40.xxx, etc.
Great guide. What do you think of creating a seperate network for your cameras like your Iot network? Is it possible and/or would it make sense? Greetings from Denmark
Is there a function to format a new driver or old driver that you install in the dream machine? I have a couple 8tb drives that I bought a while ago had some info on them but wanted to use them for now in the UDM.
You would need either a PoE switch or some PoE injectors if you have the UDM-Pro. However, there is currently a UDM-Pro-SE in the works (in Ubiquiti Early Access) that has PoE built in, in which case you would NOT need an extra PoE switch or PoE injectors. Chris has a video on the UDM-Pro-SE here: ua-cam.com/video/J3LmmKUyHIo/v-deo.html
Hey, love all your videos, mostly because you make it easy to follow for people who don't work in the industry. I have a question for you, I purchased the UDM and love it however it is not the pro. Now I want to add the G4 Doorbell. Can I make this work with just the UDM? I may expand to the UDM Pro later but for now just want the doorbell connected to the UDM. Will this work? Thanks.
Hey Chris I don't know if you will see this since this is an older video but I have a question for you. My goal in life is to start a business in a similar field to you(i want to own my own datacenter). However, I am currently in college studying IT. Once I get my degree are there any tips you could give me on starting a business(I am currently a super small 1 employee business owner so I do know a bit about the business world). Also would you consider yourself successful(at least where you would like to be)? If that last question is too personal feel free to ignore it
I just picked up a UDM SE, and this series is incredibly helpful! Thank you for putting together such a great series, it's extremely helpful!
A video on setting up a VLAN for the cameras would be awesome. Similar to how you did you Guest network, and IoT network.
Chris already provided those Videos. Watch Part 04 and 05 of these Series.

@@FragM3 adding a unifi camera to this doesnt work because the camera cant reach the udm pro
Cheers Chris, please keep the UDM-Pro vids coming.
The best series EVER!!! Thank you so so so much for this, you have no idea how helpful it is. You are awesome!
I didn’t see you add the cameras to any of the networks we created. Do UniFi cameras not need to be given a defined network?
Hi Chris can Non Unifi cameras be added to the UDM Pro? ( RTSP or ONVIF )
I have the same question here, I've got existing cameras in my house already, just would like to know if this would support them.
Nope, unifi only.
I appreciate this series. Thanks so much for putting in this time.
I have Hikvision camera's, can i add the Hikvision camera's to the UDM Pro Protect?
Great guide.

Camera's should always be setup on their own VLAN with no internet connectivity.
@@elminster8149 yes, this should be the right setup (cameras has no access to the Internet), but this is going to stop the Protect App to work.
Can you do a video for a unifi protect camera specific vlan?
Do you think the switch 48 Poe will be able to power 20 bullet cameras?
Was everything ran through the UDM-Pro or did you use another device from Unifi with POE?
If protect had an option to run ip cams it would be f awesome
So there's options for 720 and 4k but not 1080?

Hello Chris,
Question for you. Does Dream machine Pro support all Camera? Or do I need a additional PoE switch to power them?

nice video , how to set the firewall rules if the recording is on the udm SE ?

Is there an option to have wired cameras? are the ports on the switch able to take the cameras?
