  • This is the archetype of an exotic module. It looks amazing, but it sounds eh... - different - and you may need to be creative to make it sound cool in a patch. I am not sure I succeeded and if it's a keeper. You could find one on a fair or used gear website, so it's always good to have a rough idea of what you're about to buy. It will be love at first audit for noise music, It will serve you well in sound design and maybe even industrial music, but it may be a bit too experimental.

I love my kit-built Tabør! I also loved your under water patch, so I need to get right back and play 🎉. Thanks 🙏

The underwater patch at the end was worth it!

Thanks! But everything sounds cool when submerged in filters, echo and verb :)

from what I've heard, and from what I remember from back when I used to (sort of) understand this module, yours is working perfectly. Changing out the LEDs that are providing the panel backlighting and visual under-the-hood status (if you're into DIY) supposedly changes how it behaves in a major way. Even switching to an LED that should be identical can have an effect due to component tolerances

I have TABOR racked with an X1L3 SHARD, Erica Synths SWAMP (Wogglebug), Razamasynth UNKNOWN PLEASURES, plus separate filter, delay and reverb modules. You should check out SHARD. However, TABOR is my favorite module in the rack.

I own five of them …..it’s a long story lol. There are numerous “sweet spots” (subjective 😅) within the module…..but it does take time to find them. I found mine best paired with a Maneco Lab Dark Grone module (the on-board Clouds clone helps)….the myriad combined textures are staggering. I had never thought of using my Tabør to ping a filter…..thank you for that idea!

FIVE?! Wow! You got me curious about the Dark Grone, thanks for the tip!

Love my Tabor, also built mine, which was a delight, cause then you realize how many vactrols it has under the hood doing all the work to churn out those organic textures. Definitely takes a bit of fiddling to tame, but you can get some absolutely EPIC rhythmic textures out of it. Genuinely one of my favorite "happy accident" modules in all of eurorack.

Thanks for sharing. I had no idea this module was so popular. Maybe it's not as exotic as I assumed :)

I love mine, I bought it new a couple years ago. I took a cue from another Cinematic video and fed little bits of Tabor into the Arbhar with terrific results. I don't use it often, but it sits near the center of my rack and I just let the LEDs twinkle and keep it rumbling away, maybe muted or maybe not, because it's the monstrous heart and soul of my system. Yours sounds like it's working perfectly.

I love my Tabor - built it from a kit so not nearly as pricey. It's a module that demands to be played IMO - hands on the knobs are a must to find the interesting spots (and to be able to get back to them).

Oh very cool to see a video about the Tabor from you! I have one as well but it's currently not racked ... I originally bought it to ping my filters with some nice rhythmic chaos but I just wished that the Tabor could get much slower without using the stall input.
