I noticed the link went to Chongkers page instead of Elephant Robotics but I just thought it was a mistake. I didn’t know about this possible rivalry between the two companies. This is an interesting development. I guess we’ll see where it goes over time.
Thanks for this video. I have the white Meta Cat , from Elephant robotics which is the first version, and then I got the 2nd version which as you know has voice commands. However when I was on Amazon I noticed that Chongker has produced a cat that looks like a Metacat and much cheaper and I was upset because I bought my cats from Elephant robotics and thought Amazon was selling them cheaper. Thank you so much for clarifying this. You are right, people like myself would definately think Chongker ‘s cat is the same as Elephant Robotics and that is so misleading and confusing. I also wanted to order the dog, but so far he is not available that I know of. They also have made a Corgi p up too which is adorable.
Yes, I agree it’s really confusing! Elephant Robotics need to ship the MetaDog to their 49 Kickstarter backers before they make it available for general sale.
I think the plush it's the same, produced by the same chinese company. Elephant Robotics use the plush to build their robotic pet.

I wish Medacat would keep everything the same, but add that the cats can walk and sit.
As someone who doesn't know much about these kitties and only have learned from your videos it definitely is confusing. This is what happens when you have one two companies that disagree on the end result. It's very deceiving in my opinion for the other company to change a link to an official product to go to their alternative version. Especially for those that use affiliate links, the community are trusting the content creators. Having them change it makes content creators seem decietful when it's not their fault at all.
Though it's good that at least the Elephant Robotics clarified that they are not affiliated with the other company. And that you guys made this informative video! This does help potential consumers. I hope people will see your video and understand the differences and use that to determine which to purchase. I'll have to check out the Living with Robots unboxing even though I have no intention on buying it! I just like watching what is out there and how amazing technology has improved, Living with Robots videos are a great introduction to fun robot projects/products. Thanks for sharing! 💕

From what I understood, chonker was making the Metacat bodies and elephant robotics was making the mechanics. I didn’t know Chonker made Metacat first. Am I right about that? Or was it that Elaphant Robotics were selling Metacat first? Really confusing.
Chongker made & sold the plush cat first, then Elephant Robotics used the plush cat to make the robotic Metacat and both Elephant Robotics and Chongker had the Metacat for sale on their website & Amazon, then Chongker stopped selling Metacat and sold their own version of interactive cats.
I think that even if I were in the robo pet market, I would never buy from Chongker because of what they did with that link.
It really annoyed me.

I'm in Canada and I haven't been able to find where to buy one.
Sometimes things can be hard for me online as I'm legally blind. I have about 9% vision.
Am I missing something obvious?
I am from Canada too and would love a dog , but I don’t think they are for sale to the public yet. Hopefully they will be soon. Now having said that, I have not seen them advertised anywhere. On the Elephant robotics web site, they showed 2 versions. The husky and the Corgi. Both adorable.

I found joy 4 all fur real, but I don’t know if that’s the right one either. Can you provide the correct link? The one in the description only goes to the dog.
If they are not the same, how do they compare?
Is the metacat one weighted? Chonkgers weighs about 4 lbs I think, my son had the realistic NON interactive one and the weight makes it look and feel real.
I did add another comment with a link to the one I think might be metacat for $219 but it disappeared
I’ve added the link now. UA-cam doesn’t allow links in the comments. Our cat weighs just over 2 lbs so I guess it’s not weighted but that it’s the mechanics inside it that weigh a bit. Hope this helps x
