This is Rod X, from México, I truly thank you for show me how to fix my 1973 ATC 70, now, I'm ready to rock and roll!!
This is the second time I'm doing this. You, sir, are a master instructor!
Man thank you for this video I have Ben trying to put that Spring in for 2 days now, I wound that the thing a hundred times and couldn't get it in its for my sons 110 atc after this video it took me one try, your great thank you my son was driving me crazy really thanks
Hey man, you do very informative videos. I've restrung both my 84 and 85 atc 200 watching this. Thank you so much for the info. I would pay you for this video if I can.
I used to do the funnel trick back before I had a cable luber, these things are great.
Wonderful video, saved me on my 200s. Dude who had it before me cut the decompression release stuff off so I broke my string. Didn’t realize how important it was until I broke it. Now I just manually decompress after 3 pulls of not starting
Awesome video, will remember that spring packing technique for life! Helped me get my 1985 Honda ATC200s running!
Thanks for the video I just could not figure out how to tension the spring to load the rope. Was super easy after watching this video. My daughter is now rallying around her 1983 200e big red again, her favorite thing to do during this quarantine.
Ray,
Thank you so very much for this video. I found my problem after hours of trying. I wasn't winding up the coil before closing it up. I also found I was missing the decompression spring, I will have to see if I can find a replacement and a boot.
Thank you so much for the tip on how to wind the spring back in, tried for an hour then searched for a video and wa la, first time and no grease all over, thanks again.
Thank you, D-Ray! Your video was truly a help for my rebuild on the recoil for my Honda!
Thanks a lot for the videos! This really helped us fix our Grandpa's 3-wheeler.
Thank you for this, going to try to help my son fix his on his atc200. Very clear and helpful videos!
I've used a piece of flat steel with 3 Holes in it about 3 inches apart then put wood screws I all holes, then tighten in down so it's about 3/8 of an inch away from 2x4 then used the center screw to hook the middle of the spring. Then wind up and secure with bailing wire.
Very helpful video, The only issue I had was I broke the old coil spring and had to order an new one.
I had trouble trying to get the pulley to hook on the spring. The inner hook was not near the center and I had to
play with for awhile before I got the pulley to hook.
Thank you for all your help. Very good and easy to follow
Very informative, Im missing parts on my recoil, thanks for the info!
Thanks, man! Such a great help and we'll done. I owe ya a beer
thankyou so much ive done these recoils for years and they always were horrible headache pmo now you made it easy thankyou!!!!
Excellent video. Getting ready to do this to an '82 Big Red.
Thanks for the help!
Good stuff man you saved me a solid hour of messing around
I've had a few springs get away from me before, scared the hell outta me, cause they go crazy! lol
This video helped me all I just got a 1984 Honda atc 200s and I wanted to know where you got your pull rope and how long it is.
Awesome video. Thanks so much for posting. Very helpful.
Great video!!!
I cANT PULL START MY 185S, ONLY PUSH AND BUMP START. wHY DO YOU FIGURE?
I've actually had a few small engine guys tell me to not lube the rope As it collects dirt once it is and basically becomes a hardened mud string. If it's an old cotton rope I'd say go for it but if it's synthetic like nylon, poly I'm sure any petroleum based product will negatively effect it And cause dirt build up in the rope.
Great vidio man thanks
How can I get my dogs to engage all the way out? They barely move, and won’t grab the pulley on the flywheel
I broke my nose with my spring yesterday lol
Thanks for the help my dude
Why is it when I put the assembly together greased an all it works but as soon as I put it on the machine and test it out the string will not retract? Any ideas to what’s causing the hold up. I tried different tensions and went over the pound pull you suggested.
great video, came in handy..thank you for the video
D-Ray,
On the 82' Honda ATC Recoil, I noticed you have had the Decompression Spring, I have not been able to find one anywhere and my bike didn't have the large spring in it. Do you know where I could find one?
Thanks for the info Great video
You said good leather gloves. I would hate to see your worn out ones. Video helped alot, thank you.
The good gloves get worn.
Hmm about 5 rotations for the rope roughly.
Like that cable block tool :-), if the cable is on the bike ive used the old method of eather make a tight fitting funnel of plasterceine or wrap a plastic bag round the top of the cable and fill with oil, not quick or pretty but still works :-)
For cruddy cables ive used wd40 to chase the crap out first, then real old for long term lube.
Now be honest lol, did you loose the spring at least once and swore ha ha :-)
I have a 1980 model 185atc Honda and I'm having a few issues problems it acts like its starving for fuel but when I first fired up it runs just fine when it's time for a little while and then it spits and sputters like it's not getting enough fuel petcock is fun and as far as I know the car wreck or something but when I turn the petcock on the bottom of the carburetor starts leaking gas out of it is that normal or not
+James Parrott youre carb needs to be cleaned probobly. If that dosnt help get a rebuild kit for the petcock.
I had one of those springs hit me in the face a few years ago, not a very pleasent experience.
wondering where I can find the whole recoil starter kit including the decompression components
You’re better off to find one at a junkyard. Ebay dosnt have the decompression parts
My Dogs will not engage? any ideas of why these are not. Looks like my cover plate may be moving and covering?thx
check the springs maybe order a recoil starter rebuild kit
this looks like a pain in the ãss for a beginner whos not mechanically inclined...
Awesome you da man
Why aren’t my dogs engaging if my hair springs are good?
When I put the last cover on top of the dogs and springs, the cover is too high and the little dogs and spring keeps popping out of place. What an I doing wrong???
Terry Coffman II one washer is thicker it goes on first the thinner one goes on top of the cover plate..
This step is so annoying
Where did you buy your parts??
He didnt
Just like that
hate springs
thank you jesussssss
