Listen, first off - a black woman in production (you), with a 90% black crew shooting a commercial of a WNBA/NCAA legend + black woman , this is the content we want and need. Very priceless content, thank you for sharing!
I love this!, there should be more of this seen, black female DP, Black Female Director, Black crew, and all beyond capable of producing excellent work, first time coming across this and I am In love with what I am seeing! this kind of content needs to be more out there.
When I seen this was a sister and with a predominantly black film crew, I subscribed with quick as possible. I been looking for something like this.. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for bringing us in on this. When I first started shooting I would say "I wish I could get on a set and just see what's going on", lol now I get to see A team of people that look like me make some amazing work all from the crib!
My wife is black and a video editor, and has been finding it hard to find gigs for the very reason that it is primarily run by white companies who unfortunately won't give her a chance. Seeing someone like yourself and other crews of color, is just inspirational. She has now begun doing her own thing, but I'm definitely showing this channel to her, because this is just great!! Can't wait to see more!
I Sympathize with your wife, I have been finding it hard to break into those white companies and spaces as videographers and photographers. It’s came to the point where I would by my own to ticket and shoot.
This is a MasterClass in a class of it's own. Right from conception, the lighting diagrams, to the BTS and final product. Congratulations to you Brittney and your whole team, considered you had only 2 hours with the legend Staley. Then final product is for the empowerment of Black Women the world ever. You being a black lady calling the shots on this project and hiring and executing what you had in mind it's the same final product you had visualized, this is truly fantastic. I love the tutorial, the camaraderie and teamwork on set. Thanks for sharing your creativity. I really appreciate it.
Excellent video! Absolutely loved the breakdown of the lighting. It was great seeing so many different people in their element and IN THEIR BAG! Well done! 🔥 Uplift Black Women! ✨
Brittney, it's wonderful to see professionals at work and sharing the process. Appreciate the in-depth explanation of the Arri Mini LF with the signature primes, teradeck, shot list, set diagram, etc., etc. Folks need to know that you don't just show up with an iPhone or budget DSLR and start shooting. As a longtime screenwriter and film editor, it was extremely informative for a someone that hasn't been on set for nearly a decade. Looking for to checking out the rest of your content.
Thank you so much for sharing, I really needed to see this today. I've honestly been so discouraged lately with production work and frustrated to the point I started thinking about just selling all my equipment. I used to loved being on set directing, editing commercials, and animation/vfx. After COVID and lock downs I've doing only post production and animation. Seeing you all on set made me smile remembering how much fun it was. Maybe I'll hold on to my equipment just a little bit longer. 😉
First of all, black women all day everyday! ✊🏽 I absolutely love BTS content, because it sheds light on just how much goes into production; people, gear, time, skills, blood, sweat and tears! Folk think that 30 second adds are shot in minutes, but they couldn't be further from the truth. I loved watching this and you best believe I'll stay watching your videos until the very end. 🙏🏽
I truly appreciate the amount of melanin in this bts video. AND, I love the expertise each person was able to show off. Everything came together nicely. Thanks for sharing this.
YES! I am here for all of this. A sister of color and a production crew of color, working and out there in the world, we need more of this. As a writer/ director of color myself, I would love to have this with my crew. Good luck with your future endeavors.
@MrLboydReacts thank you! Yea since we were in the gym and it wasn’t planned for us to go there I had to use my fx3 for the second day to get those shots. It wasn’t in the initial idea but the clients loved the fast cuts
My question, if it's a day scene with ambient light from the artificial light placed outside, why does the white curtain together with the lamp closer to the window have/ mimic a night look with the blue-teal look? could you educate me more on that?
When you look at the Kelvin scale the higher you go up the blue it is. Now of course this varies. Also if you look at the tech scout picture the natural light from that picture was exactly how the sun was coming in which is similar to how we did it. It’s very confusing and I get confused myself sometimes. But our white balance was at 5000 kelvin. Because we were mixing color temperatures and I didn’t want it too warm where we lost the mixture. Not sure if this is making sense so let me know.
Amazing content. I like how she explained the DP position of communicating with the crew on how they want the scene shot. Please upload more of this crews work. ❤❤
The sheer melanin of this crew is the most refreshing thing I've seen on UA-cam in MONTHS. I absolutely LOVE seeing my people both in front of and behind the camera! Having typed all that warranted praise for the almost all Black EVERYTHING cast and crew, I love seeing breakdowns and BTS like this! It's truly inspiring!
I'm living my dream now with agency work, but THIS is the next level of my dream, to shoot professional productions for women's college and professional basketball. I'm a huge women's basketball fan. I've coached and trained lots of top women's college players.
Just watched like 15 of your vids. I am a 25 year old Black man trying to break into film. I've been getting a lot of PA/ Gaffing gigs but I would love to be a DP. Learning a lot through you. Thank you
Ok, don't get me wrong, but I don't get comment section. She is black, black director, black crew, black black black. I'm watching her not because of her skin color, because she is professional in her job and I can get some inforation from her and use it. Why people are so obsessed about her skin color?
Thank you for sharing these videos, One thing about such videos is there are always different approaches people use to solve certain challenges, I mean I didn't know that know that coffee cups block the light from flashing on the walls. Thank you Janae.
This was great! Thanks Brittney for taking the time and the effort to show the behind the scenes of what it took to create this great PSA! Looks like you have put together a great team!
I absolutely love this! Beautiful message and your composition is always on point! Your crew is a beast and you are! I would love to hear more about using long format cameras on these major sets and your process with that and how you began using them. They are intimating to me lol and I just love how confident you are to do all things!
you kicked ass with this video. It's a good its video and the whole crew gave simplified explanations of what they were working on. I wish I saw this video 7 years ago!! I also see I clicked on the video for the same reason as the rest of the commenters. We are all happy to see you working and doing good. Keep going
I absolutely loved this. The only reason why I use the world LOVE is because I can't think of a word with a higher magnitude. You and the entire crew were professional, personal, and purposeful. Salute to you all.
This is going to sound repetitive but it’s so rare to find an all black crew I’m actually amazed I live in the New York and sets are still prominently white I can’t wait for the day I walk on set and everyone of color is the majority
Love it, I recently had some of my students on one of our feature film production shoots, and they tripped out, "wow! The behind-the-scenes doesn't tell the whole story, it's a lot more work" LOL Great job, Do your thing! Hollar at me if you ever need a team in Texas, we have your back! We at FaceTime Studios salute you #BlackExcellence
