OK, if you bought the 3rd Beatle's Anthology, you'd already know that John says "Shoot Me." Whether it was a drug reference or not, in a strange way, sadly, it came to pass. I don't know who this was retrieved, save from copying the Master Tapes. Yes, w/o the music, it DOES sound more 'sexual' than Revolutionary. I had never noticed until hearing this that John added a lot of SFX of his own, something he would carry into his solo career, even eleven years later, the fading vocals of Starting Over.
It has been said that John sings "Hold you in his arms, yeah" like he did on other takes of the song but that the person who transcribed the official sheet music heard it as "Hold you in his armchair" and John liked it better, so he approved it.
Listening to this in this form the song is really dark and sexual. The normal version sounds like a call for folk to come together in general. This sounds like, in its darkest interpretation, he wants people to come together in the hippy / 60s ideal of free love when he is shot dead, as though he is predicting his assassination and wants folk to take that as a sign to use him as an sacrificial icon, and to hold those ideals of sex with many people.
