The point is that it won't benefit the down n under Citizen. There won't be job creation coz those jobs exist n will be filled by ppl associated. What this country needs is invest to create, not indulgence on a niche sport
@nyamekohali7284 not really... If you know and understand the business of Formula 1 you know that there will be a huge job creation, both short and long term. Tourism industry will boom as well
@17_wm I don't doubt tourism will boom but it will be momentary. I'm stating that besides sports to change the economy we need to look inward. F1 won't even make a mark on our quarterlies
He's totally right soccer in model C schools and lower is not taken seriously they barley have srs games and tournaments . Soccer is basically not taken seriously in most schools that don't have the financial backing and the soccer system compared to rugby system in majority of SA schools is about 7 years behind tbh.
FIFA rules are against government interference in football and Football Associations. Article 17 of the FIFA Regulations[2], provides that: “Each member shall manage its affairs independently and with no influence from third parties.” So there's very little Gayton can do about soccer. Corruption and laziness must end at SAFA.
My friend, you think Brazil, Spain, England, France, Argentina etc don't interfere? those governments definitely interfere, it's how you do it, we don't do it properly
I think you are missing the point … formula one is multi billion dollar industry it will bring dollars in the country, it will create lots of jobs albeit mostly casual as it is seasonal….it will bring Technology … and other benefits… tourism etc … I think the initial investment of course will be huge but I reckon in the long run it would make economic sense … of course develop other sports too …
So true, we need to bring in Sports with impact. There is a whole economy behind the masses sports and we need to refine it better. It is no harm bringing in F1 which will probably boost a niche economy but in the end it will put South Africa on the tourist positive side. But masses sports benefit the whole of South Africa. For those not from the hood or rural areas, schools have no sports experience like we had in the suburbs. I have lived in all places
Harsh truth... His job isn't to uplift south Africa. His mandate is to develop and manage of sport, interms of infrastructure, and participation. So what these guys are talking about is just reversed farts.
The teachers in Kasi schools don't think about sport it only happens one week on the year and that's it. Make Kasi school sport competitive then we'll see some change.
It is as useless as Brazil's stadiums for the World Cup. It'll boost tourism for a certain amount of time. What we need is lasting investment as F1 is not a stationary organization and will have to bid to insure we can host everytime. Its USELESS.
This guy think Formula 1 is just about the driver. Each team in Formula 1 employs about 2000 people that just work on the development of the car. Unlike your rugby and football, motorsports encourages kids to do STEM subjects in schools. He should just say he doesn't know about the sport. 😂🤷♀ There's a much bigger picture in the motivation in bringing Formula 1 to the forefront to the country.
They said world cup will benefit south africa. In the end, the disadvantages outweigh advantages. Formula 1 is not benefitting Saudi Arabia at the moment.
That's just not true. Our infrastructure benefited hugely from hosting the Fifa world cup and it would be in an even better level if our government maintained it and further invested in it.
@sizwemendu5278 the same infrastructure that is costing government millions without profits. Examples include Royal bafokeng and Cape Town stadia which are barely used
Where do you get people who have immature minds to come speak on your platform beats me…the other day i was listening to Sbu talking a whole lot of bull about poor kids and why his so called kids wont Be married to such people blah blah blah…..i guess you see something in such people or inspired by them somehow because aint no way i spent time with a grown little adults talking nonsense….
Yes I think naturally the vast majority of us are negative buoyant … means we sink rather than float because of our bone structure … I would think we won’t dominate in swimming same as Europeans won’t be dominating long distance running anytime soon … just some body composition and physics
Bringing F1 To SA means absolutely nothing if you know nothing about F1. SA will make lots of money in just one weekend by hosting F1
The point is that it won't benefit the down n under Citizen. There won't be job creation coz those jobs exist n will be filled by ppl associated. What this country needs is invest to create, not indulgence on a niche sport

We said the same thing about the Soccer World Cup?
@@defumane6670 it's not like we'll be hosting F1 for the first time like the Fifa World Cup
This thing is dom😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tourism will boom if he brings f1 in SA
Yet some people are just pessimists.
Why then does the Department of Tourism not foot the bill? Gayton has plenty of sports facilities to refurbish.
Younger kids will inspire to be Lewis so bringing F1 to mzansi will be a big thing
Where will they practice?

This the truth we not talking about , it’s a lot of underprivileged kids in SA that could benefit from sports inclusion than expansion

Hosting the world cup , olympics and hosting formular 1is a beneficial for the rainbow nation 🇿🇦

Watching people talk about things their have no idea of is baffling.
These gents are tired. They need a nap.
He is the Minister of Sports not the Minister of Rugby and Soccer
Danko

I’d stay with re introducing leagues for the different codes. District/ regional, up to provincial. But all districts would be represented
What are you focusing on in your community ?

Cause you don't understand tourism and putting us on the world calender creates lasting jobs

Sorry Pen but swimming and us black people don't go together. Greetings from Namibia.
