I feel sorry for Imhotep. The way he looks at Rick and Evelyn after being betrayed and abandoned by the woman he loved, is so heart-wretching. Seeing them together, truly loving each other, while Anck Su Namun didn't even care about Imhotep, makes it hard, if not impossible to feel for him. He was so broken that he just gave up. And from "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns", we all know that Imhotep wasn't a guy who gave up easily.
It perfectly makes sense when imotep gives up and Rick keeps fighting. For all the mummy hype he gets, imotep is still a priest at the end of the day and when he is forced to fight as a mortal. He is too scared to see a threat as he was never a warrior. Rick was a warrior both in his previous life and this life. So he doesn't shy away from fighting the scorpion king one on one and boldly face him.
The best mummy movie series of all time, the acting, the story, the adventure, the acting, all of them are amazing, it can be watched many times, it always has a place in the archive, the music is a masterpiece that was made in those years.
