- You might know him as Lexicon Avenue or Echomen, but on this week’s Super Progressive podcast, we had the privilege to speak with the man behind the music… Chris Scott.
This was a special interview for many reasons. I feel like we’ve finally reached the point where these interviews are more like friends catching up, and a lot of that has to do with how good of a dude Chris is and how open he was with us about his career, and another HUGE addition to this episode is the global perspective Ruben brings as the new cohost.
Over this 1hr+ conversation, we chat about the different influences behind Lexicon Avenue and Echomen, being the most featured artist in Global Underground history (still need to fact check 🤣), how Forensic Records came to be, and how he stays inspired to keep pushing his sound forward today.
These interviews are getting better and better and I’m really proud of how they are progressing.
The interview will be released on all platforms tomorrow, and I wanted to ask you… what’s your favorite Lexicon Avenue / Echomen track?

So stoked on the direction of the pod bro!
Love it
hello guys, I send u hugs from Argentina. You are the whole interview so happy, smiling, so passionate, like a kid that saw Santa Claus, is contagious, it truly shows that you love this genuinely and only for that I appreciate you already. You are inmortalizing all this information and part of the music history and club culture. Thank you.
Holy sh! Music of Echomen is my love forever!
Hahahaha what a great memories… visiting the website of Lexicon Avenue… listening the bass line and a voice saying… So Deep So Liquid… and trying to find the vinyl of “Only When I Lose Myself” simply THE BEST!!!!! 👏👏👏
Such a great interview. Every Forensic release was a major seller in my record shop. Great times.
There was a little bar in my hometown in Crete Island, Greece where they played electronic music (mainly) progressive house. So i remember the summer of 2004 they played Echomen-Perpetual every single night! i still remember singing the vocals of this track... And this just one of the many many productions of Chris Scott, he is one of the most contributing producers to this genre!
love this!!!
Absolutely loved this interview. Its inspirational to see how moved Chris is by the realisation his music from 20 years ago is still bringing joy to people. I guess in many ways once you put tracks out there, they take on a life of their own which you never could predict at the time you were working on them in the studio. It's a kind of magic :)
This is class! So organic and natural, but so to the absolute point.
thanks bro
Love the Creamer & K anecdote, fascinating stuff. I now feel suitably enlightened, mint podcast
Thanks Andrew happy you enjoyed it 😎
wew thanks so much!!
I'm a Geordie from Newcastle UK, the home of Global Underground and Forensic Records, and Chris Scott is a local legend, along with his partners in crime. Heard them play at Shindig many times. Great interview, keep up the good work guys 👍

Just so happy you like this x
Amazing interview! I’m so enthralled by everything Chris says
LIVE STREAM SUGGESTION:
Red Jerry: Nu Progressive Era
If you love progressive, then you’re absolutely gonna fall in love with Nu Progressive Era. I think it would make a great live stream! Red Jerry’s mixing is sublime and genius! He switches atmospheres quickly and smoothly. I feel like not a lot of people have heard Nu Progressive Era and I think this would be a great way to introduce our community to the enthralling mixing by Red Jerry as well as the amazing track list
good call!
@@forensicrecords183 OMG HII!! I’m a huge fan of your record label!!! I have a lot of your stuff on vinyl!!
legend, used to play Little Green Men feat Eliza - Through with you (Thomas Penton mix) , had it on vinyl
For the record there are 11 tracks (produced or remixed) by the aliases or groups of Chris Scott that have been featured in the Global Underground Compilations. I hope i have count right but seems that John Graham (Quivver) has 12 tracks (produced or remixed) by any of his aliases or groups. I can't think of any other producer that has more tracks in GU compilations. Again huge respect to Chris Scott he is on of my favorites!
You’re a true historian George!!! Amazing comment!
Oh man Thanks for this!! - No stats (we were just told from another person) can I ask - does the eleven include -GU select Lexicon Avenue remix of Blackout and Chris's inclusion on GU Electric Calm as CJ One?
@@forensicrecords183 oh yes i apologize! i did the counting again... it's so hard with so many aliases! So yes... it's 13 tracks actually! In detail:
Lexicon Avenue: 3 productions, 3 remixes
Echomen: 3 productions
Mooncat: 1 production
CJ One: 1 production
New Phunk Theory: 1 production
Little Green Men: 1 production
and the compilations are 9: GU014, GU019, GU036, NU002, NU004, NU006, Electric Calm 6, Select 5, GU Passport

Thanks for an amazing interview! so much knowledge & wisdom Chris has! When we talk about progressive house/music of that era Lexicon Avenue & Echomen always at the top of the list there. Also an interesting & a funny fact for me that Chris was the main man behind these 2 projects, which if I ever knew then I couldn't remember that today, wasn't paying attention years ago when browsing Discogs :)
Thanks for this awesome reflection. Happy you enjoyed the video
